Medvedev Honors 10 Russian ‘Non Spies’

From the UK’s Telegraph:

Russian spies given top Kremlin honours

Dmitry Medvedev, the Russian president, honoured their controversial work as sleeper agents in the United States by giving them all medals.

"A ceremony took place in the Kremlin today to hand top state honours to a number of Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) employees including the spies who were working in the United States and returned to Russia in July," said Mr Medvedev’s spokesman.

So Mr. Medvedev’s own spokesman called them "spies" and said they were "working in the United States"?

She declined to say exactly what state awards they received though all such awards are handed out in recognition of services rendered to the motherland…

And, of course, Mr. Obama did not want to know what they were doing. After all, it would have been a huge embarrassment for his side.

The Kremlin was initially coy about discussing what amounted to a serious setback to its worldwide espionage operations though Vladimir Putin, the Russian prime minister and himself a former KGB officer, later boasted he had sung patriotic songs with the spies.

The 10 spies have kept a low profile since their return to Russia with the exception of Anna Chapman who has taken a job advising a bank and made a series of bizarre publicity-seeking appearances.

Funny how we are only hearing about this from the British press. As of this hour there is still nary a peep about this in the mainstream US media.

(Perhaps they don’t want to remind the voters about Mr. Obama’s accomplishments in foreign affairs, with the elections only two weeks away.)

And what does this say about how the Russians view Mr. Obama and the US in general, that they are willing to humiliate him and us this way? Talk about a lack of respect.

By the way, the last sentence in the article is a reference to, among other things, Ms. Chapman’s appearance on the cover of a girlie magazine (above).

I like it better when the sleeper agents appear in Maxim.

It’s more dangerous when they sleep in the White House.

Amen Brother! Be honest though. You’re just jealous YOU didn’t get to pin a metal on Anna’s chest. Aren’t You! Admit it!
