Michelle Obama Had Ayers Speak In 1997

Children who kill are called “super predators,” “people with no conscience,” “feral pre-social beings” — and “adults.”

William Ayers, author of A Kind and Just Parent: The Children of Juvenile Court (Beacon Press, 1997), says “We should call a child a child. A 13-year-old who picks up a gun isn’t suddenly an adult. We have to ask other questions: How did he get the gun? Where did it come from?”

Ayers, who spent a year observing the Cook County Temporary Juvenile Detention Center in Chicago, is one of four panelists who will speak on juvenile justice at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, in the C-Shop. The panel, which marks the 100th anniversary of the juvenile justice system in the United States, is part of the Community Service Center’s monthly discussion series on issues affecting the city of Chicago. The event is free and open to the public.

Ayers will be joined by Sen. Barack Obama, Senior Lecturer in the Law School, who is working to combat legislation that would put more juvenile offenders into the adult system; Randolph Stone, Director of the Mandel Legal Aid Clinic; Alex Correa, a reformed juvenile offender who spent seven years in Cook County Temporary Detention Center; Frank Tobin, a former priest and teacher at the Detention Center who helped Correa; and Willy Baldwin, who grew up in public housing and is currently a teacher at the Detention Center.

The juvenile justice system was founded by Chicago reformer Jane Addams, who advocated the establishment of a separate court system for children which would act like a “kind and just parent” for children in crisis.

One hundred years later, the system is “overcrowded, under-funded, over-centralized and racist,” Ayers said.

Michelle Obama, Associate Dean of Student Services and Director of the University Community Service Center, hopes bringing issues like this to campus will open a dialogue between members of the University community and the broader community.

“Students and faculty explore these issues in the classroom, but it is an internal conversation,” Obama said. “We know that issues like juvenile justice impact the city of Chicago, this nation and — directly or indirectly — this campus. This panel gives students a chance to hear about the juvenile justice system not only on a theoretical level, but from the people who have experienced it.”

As the article notes, Michelle Obama was the Director of the University Of Chicago’s Community Service program at the time.

So this panel was surely her doing. She invited Mr. Ayers.

Still, we all must be mistaken, since we have been repeatedly reassured that Mr. Ayers “was just a guy who lived in the Obamas’ neighborhood.”

It’s true that Obama and Ayers were not close. An American Pravda reporter said so in a press release from today regarding Palin bringing Ayers to the forefront.

“In her character attack, Palin questions Obama’s association with William Ayers, a member of the Vietnam-era Weather Underground. Her reference was exaggerated at best if not outright false. No evidence shows they were “pals” or even close when they worked on community boards years ago and Ayers hosted a political event for Obama early in his career.”

It must be a relief for the Obama camp to have their “Fight the Smears” shock troops embedded in the AP in order to get the propaganda….err I mean facts out.

  2. AuntieAM says:

I’m surprised they’d try to lie about something that is so well-documented. For instance, on another board, someone posted a link to this Academy Award nominated documentary about the Weather Underground:

    Quote from the page:

“Hello, I’m going to read a declaration of a state of war…within the next 14 days we will attack a symbol or institution of American injustice.” ~ Bernardine Dohrn

BTW, it’s available for rent from Netflix if anyone wants to check it out.

  3. Anonymoose says:

Maybe it was just someone else who happened to be named Michelle. And Obama. Perfect coincidence.

  4. MrPurple says:

I think it is also noteworthy that the official U of Chicago site referes to Barack Hussein as a Senior Lecturer when Obama has been spinning that experience into being a full blown Law Professor.

  5. Rmy-mac-was-here says:

So if Sen Obama is elected President, how long do you think he will wait before he pardons Ayers?

  6. 1sttofight says:

Ayers was never convicted due to liberal judges.

    Go figure.

  7. Rmy-mac-was-here says:

right charges were withdrawn, could they be re-einstated? If so, he might need a pardon.

If the U. of Chicago pulls the linked article, note that it’s at a second spot of theirs also.

I love the part about “William Ayers, author of A Kind and Just Parent”…

One of the biggest aspects you look for in someone you are hiring is: what kind of person is this? You look at past references, check their resume, conduct a phone and maybe an in-person interview. If its a sensitive job, you do a background investigation. I guess you are trying to judge if the person has the capabilities and character needed to perform the job adequately. Sen Obama has stalled investigations into his Chicago and NYC backgrounds, he has minimized whom he had contacts with or networked with in his Chicago political days. Lifelong associates have been sort of minmized (left behind, thrown under the bus: call it whatever), during his campaign for the Presidency (His pastor, his real estate broker of sort, his fellow parallel board member). If you think about it. He uses people for advancement and then casts them aside when they become an embarassing media event. Sen McCain hasn’t done a whole lot of that. In fact, he accepted more years of hardship and torture after being offered a ticket home. I have a feeling that Sen McCain would NOT leave me or cast me aside. He didn’t do it to his fellow prisoners, maybe he won’t do it to me. Sen Obama cast aside friends, not just friends, but life long friends, I’m not so sure that he would not cast me aside.

  11. Helena says:

Excellent points Rmy-mac – The only friends and co-workers of this guy are not people I would trust with anything important. They’re all shady around the edges or downright sleazy. And he has NO problem “disappearing” them if they become inconvenient in any way. Nobama, nothankyou.

And speaking of Ayers, BHO had his political coming out party at Ayers’s house in Chicago, they live in the same neighborhood, their kids go to the same schools, they’ve been on a few boards and panels together, Michelle organized a panel of just a very few speakers on which both BHO and Ayers appeared (meaning Michelle is the person who invited Ayers), BHO wrote a laudatory blurb for a book Ayers wrote. No, they have no connection at all.

  12. Reality Bytes says:

I don’t see the connection. Obama was in his 30’s when this happened!!! How can you expect someone to be responsible for the things he does, what’s that? He’s only 46 now? Oh, never mind.

  13. A Mad Pole says:

Please change the photo, my coworkers are beginning to think I frequent an “alternative” lifestyle website.

  14. Reality Bytes says:

OM! It hit me. Bill Ayers & George Costanza – separated at bith. Who would have thought there would ever be someone more annoying than Seinfeld’s Sidekick. OHM x 2! Obama & Ayers – a campaign about “nothing”!!!

I see a youtuvbe vid – Obama as Seinfeld, Ayers as George, Biden as Kramer and Elaine as played by Hillary!!!

  15. Reality Bytes says:

    Wait! How about Larry David.

“You know, it used to be you could blow up a building and people would think it was funny.”

“Now, everybody’s makin’ a big deal out of it. Ohhh, look what you did! You blew up a building. A police department!”

“Big deal! So I blew up a police department. So What1”

Hmm. Seems liberals are all the same. Some use stand up. Others explosives.

  16. Steve says:

Drudge has put this story up on his front page — alas, without any link to us.

Still, we are glad to get it out.

Though, without it being pointed out, many will miss the role of Michelle Obama in all of this.

It was her panel and she must have been the one to invite Mr. Ayers.

  17. NueTral says:

How many people actually remember or for that matter care about everyone that they have had associations with especially some met during passing. Everyone you meet is not to be a life long friend some people are just in your life for the time to serve a purpose. Ayers for example. He was radical and his platform brought attention to the issue of Juveniles being charged as adults; and by the way if you weren’t raised in a metropolitan city you would not understand the impact this has on the community and further more if you’re not black you most certainly will never understand the devistation this has been to the black male population. However, MCain has had his association with some unsavory business dealers and no one holds that against him. Look at the issue with his wife, a woman who waited five years for her husband to be freed from containment only for him to come home and find out that she wasn’t the beauty he left. She had been in a terrible accident which almost took her life, instead it took her looks: within 1 year of Mcain’s return home he was divorced and remarried. Now that’ a true mark on ones character wouldn’t you say? And what about for better or for worse, in sickness and in health. Mcain has been just as ambitious as Obama, so don’t judge, neither canidate has a perfect record.

  18. AuntieAM says:

NueTral, I just gotta say–I don’t recall any of McCain’s buddies plotting against his country to the point of using violence, as Ayers et al have done–and still remain unapologetic, no less.

  19. fluffy says:

NeuTral: First, thanks for pointing out my inability to understand, being neither urban nor black. It’s great that you can reach out in that post-racial way.

Second, William Ayers & Barack Obama are not merely acquainted in passing. They have worked together for years.

  20. notunderabushel says:

I have heard that there are just tons of things that Obamamama could use against McCain, but, you know, I haven’t actually been enlightened as to what they are, besides the allegations that the Keating Five scandal was more nefarious then the Democrat who led the investigation and cleared McCain of wrongdoing states. Perhaps, NueTral you could give us a brief overview of some of these “unsavory business dealers” so I won’t remain in the dark.

Also, I am glad that you have personal insight into Senator McCain’s romantic relationships, and know the details of exactly why he got a divorce.

  21. 1sttofight says:

    NueTral ,
Have you ever met anyone who bombed American citizens?

    I haven’t either.

  22. GuppyNblue says:

We’re not talking about people that just casually crossed in life. We’re talking about two people who have a history of radical ideologies bent on overthrowing our system of government. They have clearly worked together and assisted one another in furthering their efforts. With subversion being a tenant of their ideology it would be naïve to think that where there’s smoke there’s no fire.

As for metropolitan cities and the black community – try some real change for once and stop electing the same liberal race exploiters. I’m no fan of McCain but comparing his lobbying relations is something you could do with every member of the Senate including Obama. As for his post captive marital situation very few of us could relate to what was his state of mind at that time. No matter what his reason for the divorce and remarriage, I don’t think it’s a threat to our country.

  23. March2theRight says:

A vote for Obama is a vote for the MSM – the biggest incumbents of all!

This blog has demonstrated two things about Obama. First, team Obama has not been honest about Obama’s association with Ayers. The association is far closer that they have ever discussed openly. Second, and I believe more important, is that the Main Stream Media has been neither forthcoming nor honest about it’s own support of Barack Obama.

William Ayers bombed the Pentagon, law enforcement offices and killed police officers. This we know. This we know today! Had William Ayers bombed an abortion clinic we would have known about it long before the Iowa caucuses, and Barack Obama’s campaign would have gone nowhere. My guess it that the MSM is quite comfortable with a terroist who bombs the Pentagon.

The MSM has reported on John McCain’s divorce and remarriage numerous times over the course of years. John McCain even brought the subject up himself at Saddleback church. I am aware of this history and these facts. I have been aware of these facts for a long long time. I can take it from here.

Let’s support real change and kick the MSM out of the picture.

    “so don’t judge”

Yup just close your eyes when your choosing your President!
    let the force guide you.

  25. bobsmyuncle says:

You place in quotes “was just a guy who lived in the Obamas’ neighborhood”

Isn’t the quote from Obama this?

“This is a guy who lives in my neighborhood, who’s a professor of English in Chicago who I know and who I have not received some official endorsement from. He’s not somebody who I exchange ideas from on a regular basis.”

Don’t get me wrong, it’s important to know the truth, but shouldn’t the truth be enough? Don’t stretch it
