Why couldn’t it be a facsimile rubber stamp given to a staffer trusted to use it in lieu of disturbing Mrs. Obama every time her signature is needed? There is nothing new about this – the President even has machines that literally forge his name in ink to letters that go out from the White House.

The reason is simple – there would not be enough time for other tasks if the President was to personally sign every document. I think she’s just practicing getting the habit down for when she is First Lady. In her mind, she’s already Mrs. The One.

So I disagree that this is not genuine, if based solely on the identical signatures.

I see no reason to doubt the article. Especially since the Obama camp has not denied it.

I removed the (purported) receipt image because I don’t know enough about the site where it was posted to know whether it is reliable or not.

I also had noticed the signatures. Though I still think it is possible that the one was just a reproduction of the other. On the other hand, the whole thing could be a mock up.

In either case, the original article from New York Magazine still stands.

It could be that they are scanned copies done by the computer when it prints up the receipt.

But, just to be on the safe side, I have removed the image of the receipt.

However, the NY Magazine article has not been challenged, as far was we know.
