Michelle Obama’s USDA ‘Judge’ Visits Schools

From the Lexington, Kentucky CBS affiliate, WKYT:

Frankfort school cafeteria gets visit from USDA official

Feb 15, 2012

Audrey Rowe is visiting schools all over the nation. “Everything we can do…to make food taste good,” Rowe told students at Elkhorn Middle School in Frankfort on Wednesday.

The USDA official from Washington, DC got a first-hand look…and taste of school lunches in Kentucky. “I think we can make it to where one day you’ll say ‘that lady was here and I like this food now.’ That’s what I’m working on,” she said.

Taylor Boggs ate lunch with Rowe, who’s worked directly with President Obama on school lunch legislation

“Usually for students, if they don’t have a good lunch, sometime around mid-afternoon, they get sluggish, start having issues,” said Rowe, who says she visited the school in-between several meetings with officials in Kentucky.

Rowe says the bottom line is that school lunches today are going to be a lot different next year.

8th graders say their meals are pretty good, but some days…. “It’s really greasy…and not fresh,” said Boggs.

Rowe says some districts have brought in chefs in to make changes

Elkhorn Middle School was given the thumbs up for already serving fat free milk and whole grain buns.

All in their endless quest for great tasting food.

“I’m really pleased with what I see here in Kentucky. Other school districts are not as far along,” Rowe said. Rowe says the new laws will not just change what is served in cafeterias, but what is allowed in vending machines and other areas of the school.

Here is a little more background on what Ms. Rowe and Michelle Obama and the SEIU are up to, from a USDA press release, back in April 2011:

USDA Kicks Off Judging Period in Recipes for Healthy Kids Competition

15 semi-finalists in the "Recipes for Healthy Kids" contest to be Part of School Meal Enhancements Nationwide

WASHINGTON, April 26, 2011 –Today, Agriculture Secretary Vilsack announced the start of the judging period in First Lady Michelle Obama’s Recipes for Healthy Kids competition. A judging team led by Audrey Rowe, Administrator of USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service visited a local school in Greeley today, kicking off visits to 15 semi-finalist schools around the nation. USDA and the First Lady launched the Recipes for Healthy Kids competition last September, challenging teams of school nutrition professionals, chefs, students, and community members to develop creative, nutritious, and kid-approved recipes that schools can easily incorporate into National School Lunch Program menus…

USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service oversees the administration of 15 nutrition assistance programs, including the child nutrition programs. Improving child nutrition is also a focal point of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act that was signed in to law by President Obama in December 2010.

Also known as the ‘SEIU Cafeteria Workers Full Employment Act.’

This legislation authorizes USDA’s child nutrition programs, including the Summer Food Service Program and the National School Lunch Program, which serves nearly 32 million children each day. It will allow USDA, for the first time in over 30 years, the chance to make real reforms to the school lunch and breakfast programs by improving the critical nutrition and hunger safety net for millions of children. The Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act is the legislative centerpiece of First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! Initiative.

Hurrah! We love seeing every school cafeteria in the country being bent to the will of the First Lady and the SEIU.

It is very inspiring. And a great lesson for the children.

I almost don’t have a problem with this. School meals ought to be nutritous, kids ought to learn good eating habits, we ought to care about where our food comes from and what goes into it – if we did some of that stuff maybe we wouldn’t feed ourselves on garbage that a seagull would spit out and maybe some Americans wouldn’t be the enormous waddling tubs of size 5X blubber that they are. The problem comes when the Federal government gets involved, does it not? We still have local school boards in this country, right? And they still set policy, yes? So why do we need this lady?

Alas, I know the answer. In the UK the government is always using taxpayer money for this kind of health fascism; last summer the spent millions on a campaign warning us about the dangers of salt. Salt – the killer condiment! Telling us how much we can drink and then driving us to it. The latest scare is the scourge of ‘binge-drinking’ – firm action needed there, apparently (tax increase on beer and vodka on the way). Before that it was ‘middle class alcoholism’ (another tax increase on wine was the answer to that). The point, of course, isn’t health – its control. Always control.

The government knows as much about proper diet as it does about lifting people out of poverty. Whole grains equal whole crap. There is nothing nutritious about grains. They are empty calories filled with gluten and other junk that has caused the obesity epidemic in the US. Any ‘nutrition’ derived from grains is added, thus the “enriched” wheat flour part. Milk isn’t much better either. Milk as a net acidifying effect on your blood, which cause bones to leach calcium. It is also loaded with pro-inflammatory casein which is probably just as bad as gluten.

Here is an article about how gluten is killing you, sorry for the HuffPost link SG. Even liberal idiots stumble upon the truth every now and then:

Also, here is a link on obesity data. When you are looking at the charts, keep in mind the government issued its “eat more grains and carbs and less meat” proclamation in 1977. Coincidently the exact year obesity started to rise in the US.

When this power gets centralized, the agenda ends up never being driven by science, the costs of the programs and regulations they implement skyrocket, and usually end up creating entirely new problems with a new demand for government solutions. This is the cycle of Big Centralized Government, virtually without exception. These are the goals of the Socialist policy writers. The compassionate intentions are a tool, a shell game, to amassing more power to fund more demand for astronomically wastefully administered government union jobs and programs, replete with all the lush benefits.

These matters have to be handled by localities and states – those directly invested in issue. The programs that succeed hopefully get emulated state to state.

People have to be allowed to make their own choices and manage their own affairs, even if it’s their choice to pig out and self-destruct. It is a fallacy that big guv can ever be a benevolent nanny. Give it an authority and they’ll find a way to abuse it.

Yes, very accurate way to term it.

“Supreme national health” has always been a central obsession for national socialist utopians. It was a foundational pillar of Nazi Germany.

      Audrey Rowe: http://www.usda.gov/wps/portal/usda/usdahome?contentidonly=true&contentid=bios_rowe.xml

She has NO experience, education or knowledge concerning nutrition, health, diet, etc. She is plainly talking out of her a**.

Her “resume” consists of being an aparatchik for the socialist movement, cloaked in social justice. But I have seen people like this all my life, mostly though in serical comedies where they have a character who has no idea what they’re talking about making the rules.

But the thing she thinks she’s referring to where the kids are sluggish in the afternoon is a natural, human-borne phenomenon called the “feeling of well-being” after eating a meal and the body’s natural tendency to want a nap. We have all experienced it and it has nothing to do with whether the meal was “good” or “not good”.

      She’s an idiot.

These mentally-diseased corruptocrats always act from what they believe to be a Moral High Ground.

They wouldn’t understand morals if you taped it to them and used bats to beat the lesson into them. They are soulless swine fit only for (balance of post deleted by author) …. and then, salt the ground …

You have to chuckle at the name of the initiative though. It’s almost better than “Winning the Future”. WTF.
First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! Initiative.
I say if Moochy continues to get her way, we’ll all be saying “Let’s Move”.

First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! Initiative. They finally got something right. If Moochy continues to get her way, we’ll all be saying “Let’s Move”. Maybe Australia… New Zealand… Newt’s moon colony… anywhere but under the cankled jack-boot of Mrs Messiah.

    Classic: http://thehill.com/video/administration/210263-first-lady-answers-health-questions-admits-presidents-weakness-for-guacamole

Up next was a young boy named Shayan Fazli, who said his “favorite healthy snack” was Goldfish crackers and asked to know President Obama’s top snack choice.

Obama admitted that her husband has a “weakness” for guacamole and nachos, but left the young boy with a reminder to “keep eating your vegetables.”

The music in the background as she’s making her response is just, muah, perfect, too. Couldn’t script it any more hilariously.

Michelle Obama’s ordering the USAF & U.S. Military troops what to eat in her move.forward program is not setting well with U.S. Troops.

Michelle’s new regulations for their food and telling them to eat their vegetables has caused a stir.

First let’s start with Michelle not understanding an overweight soldier can be fined just as a football player if they are overweight.

My neighbor on his 4th tour watching his buddies slaughtered in Afghanistan asks for food aside other insane conditions I will not mention.

On his recent short leave after 4 months in the belly of the beast, the change from a man who worked out daily had lost weight (and teeth) yet what was there of him was pure muscle from the load he carried and lack and lack of food from the rations and in spite of food being mailed to him. Communication to family is rare as our soldiers are fighting for their lives after the announcement by Obama of pulling out troops
encouraging the enemy to slaughter our soldiers full force.

We’ve made it this far without these f-ing ninnies trying push crap on us. We are this well off that we’re being policed and preached to by these twats? Good God do we need to fire a whole bunch of government people!

  9. canary says:

    P. Aaron, thanks. I know some Mexicans that mention girl’s twats and they wouldn’t tell me what it means in English.
    Now I think I know.

  10. Mithrandir says:

The federal govt has no business in education or feeding children. BUT never underestimate the Republican’s ability to lose a winning argument. “But the media will make us look like we hate kids! How can we oppose this?”

And other winning arguments they love to lose…..

“We can’t oppose homosexuality, the media accuse us of hating civil rights!”

“We can’t change welfare or affirmative action either, the media will accuse us of hating blacks!”

“We can’t challenge immigration, the media will accuse us of hating Hispanics!”

“We can’t challenge abortion or women’s studies programs, the media will accuse us of hating women!”

“We can’t change social security, the media will accuse us of hating old people!”

So Republicans can’t do anything, so then, they raise taxes which is goal 1-10 of the democrat strategy, and people sit on their hands on election day. That summarizes the Republicans since Newt left office.
