We can't wait here in southeast Michigan. We are also trying to get a nuclear waste dump and a waste water sludge pit.

Maybe they could drop them into Detroit. But that would be cruel and unusual punishment.

A costly dangerous disastor, all because an egotistical maniac president Obama can not admit he made a promise built upon his stupidity and ignorance of the situation.
Americans have spoken. We don't want them.
$4000 a year we pay Cuba for piece of land we under treaty to keep paying for.
Michigan? who cares since they are letting prisoners free in Little Afganistan anyways.
They have NOT accounted for Ft. Leavenworth KS which houses
criminally charged "U.S.military soldiers", where it is against the law to house "foriegn prisoners" with the military. I'd expect an increase of U.S. military imprisoned during the Obama reign. Maybe another way to kill off the U.S. military trained soldiers, even if they are criminals.
Course Kansas folks would take care of any terrorist escapee. Some mighty fine hunters in Kansas.
So, add more costs. What''s a few billion compared to 1,599,999,999,999 & $ 999,999,999,999 packaged bills.
And what about Obama's ongoing life-time of anger against slavery. If he makes an unpopular decision to close Gitmo, then Obama should cut the chains from his brothers, and allow them to return to their own tribes, with their own people, religion, cultures, and muslim beliefs. "Obama! Let Your People Go! "
Obama has no guilt over our own troops dying and going without medical care, but he's so concerned for his muslim brothers, who will get 1st class medical and welfare.
You see Obama is forcing the American democracy, imperialism and prosperty, he has blamed the entire global problems on, apologizing endlessly to tyrants, for....His forever bitterness of his own relatives selling their people into slavery. His chance to send them back, but he's decided America is the best place for them?
What a mockery Obama is making, of his apologies for America's
influence. Obama stop your human importing people. Don't repeat the sins of your fathers. Take them to their homelands and cut their chains. Let them go back to their families. Let them go back to their tribes! Let your people go! Why do you chain them in America that that they hate with every cell of their body and soul. Let them go home. They want to be close to their allah's real home.

or, build a dang prison in Chicago, where they will feel at home with your peers and mentors. Where their anger and rage is acceptable.
Where violence and corruption is a way of life. Have mercy on them.

WASHINGTON — The Justice Department has identified between 60 and 80 who could be prosecuted, either in military or federal criminal courts. The Pentagon would oversee the detainees who would face trial in military tribunals. The Bureau of Prisons.. manage defendants in federal courts.

_long-term holding cells... because intelligence and counterterror officials conclude they are too dangerous to risk being freed.

As many as an estimated 170 of the detainees now at Guantanamo are unlikely to be prosecuted.

Scott Silliman, director of Duke University's Center on Law, Ethics and National Security, called the proposal "totally unprecedented" and said he doubts the plan would work without Congress' involvement because new laws probably would be needed. Otherwise, "we gain nothing — all we do in create a Guantanamo in Kansas or wherever," Silliman said.

Legal experts said civilian trials held inside the prison could face jury-selection dilemmas ...One solution, Silliman said, would be to bring jurors from elsewhere.

Yes.

They will be tried by a jury of their peers. In Dearbornistan.

And how many believe this is an accident?

Just wait till we get to jury selection.

Better buy padding and braces for when your jaws hit the floor.

You ain't seen nuthin yet!

Lawmakers want the administration to say how it plans to make the moves without putting Americans at risk.

I have some questions myself …

Are these trials going to be military trials or civilian (jury) trials? I have come to the conclusion that in general, Americans are now too stupid to really get down to the nitty-gritty when it comes to being on a jury. Best to let a judge hear the case… especially if the jury pool is truly a “jury of their peers” in Michigan.

(I vote that they end up in Kansas for that reason, but I can sure understand the community not wanting those guys around. Add Leavenworth as a terrorist target, I guess. Gotta free their brothers in arms, ya know.)

Will the families of the “accused” be allowed into the United States to be supportive during the trials? How many family members? And who will pay to get and keep them here? Better not be you and I, a.k.a. taxpayers. And who will make sure they leave when it's all done?

Once the convicted terrorists do their time, will they be properly deported? Or will they apply for political asylum, because you know, they failed in their mission and the mullah are all pissed off at ‘em. Then they’ll apply to bring their families over and no doubt there will be “programs” to ease everyone’s transition into <strike>the American way of life</strike> forcing Americans accept their customs and cultural norms.

Will their health care on the inside of the prison be better than mine on the outside?

While in prison, will the inmates be required to have a job within the prison walls (janitors, cooks, etc.)? Will they receive free vocational training? Free college courses? Free mental health care? And will the dollar a day they are paid for their jobs go back to the U.S. to pay toward restitution for the crimes they did against this nation?

Madeline could do a lot worse. Most of us believed she was an alien life form from a parallell universe anyway. As far as Manhattan KS, the good folks there have enough on their plate being home to K-State and all the college-kid shenanigans. The real clueless folk reside in the nations capitol.

John, not surprised even as close as Manhattan is to Leavenworth-relatively speaking that the people are pretty clueless. I spent about 9 weeks out there a few years ago while my husband was at some school at Leavenworth. The papers are pretty left wing and they've probably never mentioned it.
It's truly mindboggling that this man is closing the best place for these POS. All because he wants everyone to like us again. Last week there was an article in the paper (can't remember if it was the Compost or the Times) where Madeline Halfbright said "Now we don't all have to say we're from Canada anymore, lol!". There are many in this country who have nothing but space between their ears.

Here we go re-inventing the wheel......again. We already have the most secure prison for holding these vermin, totally unencumbered by the Justice Department and DHS messing things up. Could it be that these trials that would be held in the hybrid court/prison in Michigan would field their juries from the inmate population? Or the civilian population? You know, the one with the highest concentration of Islamists in the general populace. The state with the greatest number of radical Muslim mosques and madrassas.

Amazingly, while I was traveling out west this summer, we stayed one night in Manhattan Kansas. When I mentioned to a waitress that Obama was contemplating housing Gitmo prisoners at Leavenworth, she was totally unaware.

People are sheep!

Love the photo...Isn't that a prayer rug he is flopping on? Wonder what old Mohammand would think of that?

We can't touch the Koran (but then, who would give a flip) but he can flop on it? Oh well, one more piece of hypocrisy from the Gitmo bunch.

Time to put terrorists in your neighborhood!

From an ecstatic Associated Press:

Sources: Obama Eyes U.S. Military-Civilian Terror Prison

WASHINGTON - The Obama administration is looking at creating a courtroom-within-a-prison complex in the U.S. to house suspected terrorists, combining military and civilian detention facilities at a single maximum-security prison.

Several senior U.S. officials said the administration is eyeing a soon-to-be-shuttered state maximum security prison in Michigan and the 134-year-old military penitentiary at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., as possible locations for a heavily guarded site to hold the 229 suspected Al Qaeda, Taliban and foreign fighters now jailed at the Guantanamo Bay detention camp in Cuba.

The officials outlined the plans as the latest effort to comply with President Barack Obama's order to close the prison camp by Jan. 22, 2010, and satisfy congressional and public fears about incarcerating terror suspects on American soil. …

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/elections/2009/08/02/sources-obama-eyes-military-civilian-terror-prison/

I wonder how Michigan and Kansas voters feel about this?

At least the Michigan voters not blinded by union loyalty.
