Military Jury Clears SEAL In Abuse Case

From an outraged Associated Press:

US military jury clears SEAL in Iraq abuse case

April 22, 2010

BAGHDAD — A U.S. military jury cleared a Navy SEAL Thursday of failing to prevent the beating of an Iraqi prisoner suspected of masterminding a 2004 attack that killed four American security contractors…

Petty Officer 1st Class Julio Huertas, 28, of Blue Island, Illinois, was found not guilty by a six-man jury of charges of dereliction of duty and attempting to influence the testimony of another service member.

The jury spent two hours deliberating the verdict…

It’s troubling that it took the jury two hours to deliberate.

But it’s good news.

Though it doesn’t mitigate the fact that any of these men were dragged into this charade in the first place.

Holy crap you mean that there is actually some sanity remaining in this world? The ass who brought these charges and the spineless little pricks who testified for the prosecution should be sentenced to walk point in Afghanistan until the mission there is concluded. Better yet, give them a stick and let them clear minefields!

    • mr_bill says:

Amen, LMGS! I don’t think any of those turncoats will be getting much sleep anytime in the forseeable future.

    • Right of the People says:

Why give them a stick? Just have them put their fingers in their ears and go out and stomp until they find them.

I am glad to see that reasonable people still exist in this world – and that this insane attempt at smearing honorable young men in service to their country is not going to pan out as the foaming at the mouth li(e)brals had intended – sort of like the ‘murder in cold blood’ Haditha Marines – seems like Murthas facts were about as muddled as he himself was.

  3. Astravogel says:

That swooshing sound you just heard was the
careers of the military jurors going down the crapper.

    Democratica Delinda Est!

    Jury Nullification

When the government realizes it has ZERO credibility left with the people, they will stop tipping people upside down, jingle all the money out of them for their lawyer buddies, then people will have to defend themselves and not rely on the court system.

Let’s hope the accused Seal that caused the murdering terrorist a nose bleed. Will, he have a legal team & mental experts like the Terrorists tried in the U.S. recieve. Having seen so many blown up American soldier body parts, women and children mutilated and slaughtered by the savage muslims,
    he bumped the murderer’s nose?
This is another sign of the insanity Obama is putting American hero’s through. I’d be happy if someone just slapped Obama’s finger when he points it. Reminds me of alleged rapist Clinton’s finger in our faces.
Obama could make millions to feed the poor if he did one of those dunk the clown games fundraisers. Hey that would be great to use in interrogations of terrorists. Ask them a question, and they don’t answer, throw a ball & hit the lever, and they fall into the water. People would pay to watch that too.

  6. proreason says:

Obaminsky won’t be depending on juries in the future.

  7. Rusty Shackleford says:

Truly, this result will anger the boy and all his capos. They won’t make the same mistake again. He will instead circumvent the UCMJ by punishing military members directly by “executive order”.

However, I am glad that the soldier was found not guilty.

  8. Reality Bytes says:

Just checking but since we got pictures of these animals can we declare a holy jihad, track them down & cut off their heads & stick them on poles in front of their house?

Sorry – what was I thinkin’? I mean what kind of sick person would even think of such a thing?

  9. Mithrandir says:

The Nazis thought they were being fed fake propaganda when it was reported that the American president removed General Patton from command, for slapping a soldier.

The terrorists must have been leaping for joy upon hearing the report that Navy Seals would face a court-martial for punching a terrorist.

We are at war, just think about how petty and stupid this really is!

  10. jackal40 says:

It’s unfortunate that this incident ever went to Courts Martial, maybe this will send the message to our troops that they should just shoot to kill instead of “capturing” a terrorist. This jihadist got less abuse than U.S. Citizens who resist arrest – just shoot them next time!

I just thought that this was such a perfect place to write these little facts, re historical perception (which the li(e)brals just can’t seem to get their pointy little heads around). Due to my Mom’s passing – I have become the holder of all things family history – while most thought my Mom was a crazy old lady who was way far gone on hoarding – I have come to realize that she was indeed the holder of all things family history – most of which are priceless. Included among the boxes I’ve already gone through (at least 25 still in the garage and probably as many more still in storage) are these two WWII gems:
From a Time magazine July 16, 1945 (mailed from HI) –

    The Bad with the Good
The War Department released some statistics . . .on soldiers, and they are shockers. . .
    1) Since the war began 101 have been executed for murder or rape (47 for murder, 43 for rape, eleven for both. . .)
    2) One man was executed for desertion under fire. He was the first US soldier to be executed since the Civil War for a purely military offense.
    3) More than 200 others were condemned to death but had their sentences commuted to life in prison or less.
    4) A total of 33, 519 have been under guard in the US and overseas for various offenses.
Navy Department statistics were not quite so surprising. Some 22,000 have been confined. Executions of Navy, Marines, Coast Guardsmen: None.

This, remember, was a Democrat in Office at & during the War (and never forget FDR was the one who interred American citizens) from 1942 until 1945 (do the math 3 years).
And yet, the foaming at the mouth li(e)brals are up in arms over less than 15 cases in two concurrent Wars (OIF – 7 years, OEF -8+ years)?!?
And finally how about this telegram:

With the announcement of the virtual completion of the South Pacific Campaign X Except mopping up and starving out operations X I can tell you and tell the World that no greater fighting team has ever been put together X
From the desperate days of Guadalcanal to the smooth steam-rolling of Bougainville and the easy seizure of Green and Emirau all US and Allied Services put aside every consideration but the one goal of wiping out the Japs X
    . . .
You never stopped moving forward and the Jap never could get set to launch a sustained counter attack X You beat them where ever you found them and you never stopped looking for them and tearing into them X Well Done X Admiral Halsey XX

Oh for America to have leaders like this – today – We’d have wiped out Iraq & Afghaistan radical islamic terrorists (oops, I did it again) – probably in the same 3 year time span!

  12. wardmama4 says:

Great news – just read that the Court cleared another one of the Seals! There is some real justice left in America.

Petty Officer 2nd Class Jonathan Keefe was cleared today of charges of dereliction today in Iraq.
    The AP reported:

A U.S. military judge has cleared a Navy SEAL of wrongdoing in the alleged beating of a prisoner suspected of masterminding the grisly 2004 killings of four American contractors in Iraq.

The military says the judge found insufficient evidence to convict Petty Officer 2nd Class Jonathan Keefe on charges of dereliction of duty.

Keefe — one of three SEALS charged in the case — was not accused of assaulting Ahmed Hashim Abed but of failing to prevent the abuse.

    • canary says:

yeah, they made a deal to snitch on the 4th.

Is the time limit up to charge Obama with busting a kids nose, shoving a girl to the ground, getting rough and shoveling over stupid basketball. Assaulting Keyes when they ran against each other, aside admitted drug use.

  14. MinnesotaRush says:

I’m praying that each and everyone of these SEALS are found “Not Guilty” and completely cleared of these ridiculous charges!

These men deserve honors for performing their duty and capturing this barbaric scumbag.

I have complete and utter disgust for the people and system that patronize this foolish crap.

God Bless those (and all) SEALS!!! God Bless Our Troops!!!

  15. crate says:

Good.. Support our Troops and God Bless Them!!!!
