I like facebook, so I purposely avoid politics and religion on facebook. I like to see what my friends from earlier years are up to so I simply behave the way I would at a reunion or a wedding reception. I avoid all the quizzes and don’t respond to the invitations to join groups, etc., those things are just used as an excuse to get you to give permission to release your information. If one really wants to be a fly on the wall, facebook gives you the opportunity. If you want to mix it up with politics or other provocative stuff you can use private messaging to avoid airing your differences in public.

Maureen Dowd is butch, so don’t judge her by appearance. Since Sotomayor was raised in America, why does she think seasoning from another country is needed, like we don’t have enough. People that wanted to come to America because they loved America.

Sotomayor and Obama speak as though they are being held prisoner in America. As if they truly belong to their roots, and their roots are better than America.

Obama’s father consistantly, wrote self-loathing, America-hating Obama to come live in Kenya. Obama was so miserable, had to escape with drugs to ease the pain.

So, why does Obama and Sotomayor put themselves through such torture. They need to pioneer their way back to their homes they cherish in their hearts. It’s sooo easy today. No covered wagons, long sea trips to starve and die on, no deserted island survival. They can go sitting first-class in a big airplane and get there in a day. Finally, have a place they can call home-sweet-home.

That is a stunningly brilliant point, UNH.

I consider myself sort of a student of the period, and I have never heard anyone ever put it that way.

But there is certainly a lot of truth to it.

Off topic, perhaps, but let us honor the Jews, and others, who died in the Holocaust, if Hitler didn’t put resources into that campaign he may have won the war. (I’m not a WWII expert analyst)

I can’t login to facebook anymore without my blood pressure rising. I guess I thought it would be a good way to stay in touch with my high school/ college friends. It is impossible to argue with people who hold these views.

A former college roommate wrote this yesterday on Sotomayor:
“Well I’m sure a woman from Lesbos would be influenced by her experiences as well. I hear the underlying message loud and clear: Personal experience as an aspect of decision making is unacceptable in a judge- unless you are a white male.”

You can’t argue with beliefs like this, but really it pales in comparison to the other daily post praising Jimmy Carter as so wise.

I used to argue just to provide a counterpoint to the laughably simplistic and misguided assertions but I can’t sacrifice the time anymore.

I would agree with you on that bit about moderatism… which is probably a result of the liberal PC movement as a whole, where people walk around in fear of insulting or “offending” someone.

And frankly, can we call Maureen Doud racist for assuming the beliefs of a bunch of “white Republicans,” setting up a strawman version of what they believe and then showing how intellectual superior she and her ilk are by being so “above” that… while of course, systematically defaming anyone else who dares disagree with her.

As I’ve seen many wise people post on this site, when Liberals can’t use their talking points, they just go for personal attacks… which is usually a good indication that you need to keep moving forward because they view you as a serious threat.

How sad that she’s so unhappy. Old Mo used to be somewhat tolerable but within the last 10 or so years, she’s really turned bitter. I think what’s really bothering her is she was probably dumped by a white Republican male.
