Mosque Builders Reject Paterson Meeting

The latest as of this hour, from the New York City NBC affiliate, WNBC:

Mosque Developer Rejects Meeting With Paterson

Wed, Aug 18, 2010

The developers of an Islamic cultural center that would include a mosque near Ground Zero have rejected Gov. David Paterson’s offer to help them find a different site.

Paterson said today the group is apparently committed to building in the proposed site. "I think they would like to stay where they are, and I certainly respect that and I certainly respect them,"  Paterson said.

But, Paterson said the dialogue would have been useful as the project has ignited nationwide debate over freedom of religion and anger over the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.. "Having said that, how much more foresighted would it have been if the Imam who is the developer of the project had been willing to hear what we are actually talking about?" …

Morgan Hook, a Paterson spokesman, said talks were under way between the governor’s office and representatives of Park51 to set up a meeting between Paterson and the project’s leaders.

"We are working with the developers on a staff level but there have not been any formal discussions between the governor and imam or developer," Hook said. "We expect to have a meeting scheduled in the near future."

Mosque spokesman Oz Sultan released a statement Tuesday saying he did not believe a meeting had been scheduled yet.

"We appreciate the governor’s interest as we continue to have conversations with many officials," Sultan said.

King, the ranking minority leader of the Homeland Security Committee, said that he had spoken to Paterson on Tuesday and that the governor expected the meeting to take place within days

Why all the confusion? Why is it so hard to just arrange a meeting? And these are the people who are going to build understanding between Muslims and the rest of the world?

(By the way, the Cordoba House’s ‘media consultant,’ Mr. Sultan, is a real piece of work. And a perfect example of how much these people really want to ‘reach out’ and ‘form bridges.’)

Rauf was scheduled to leave this week on a two-week trip to the Middle East as part of a religious outreach effort by the State Department

Well, we certainly would not want to inconvenience him.

Where is the ACLU outrage over this state sponsored religious act?

They keep giving us the finger and we keep smiling. Pretty soon I would hope that would change. They are the enemy. They want us all dead. Doesn’t matter what they say. It’s their actions. And they have overwhelming support from the socialists in our own nation.

Absolutely criminal. But what makes them believe that the muslims don’t want them dead as well? “The alligator will eat them last?”

It’s a mutually beneficial proxy partnership for the time being, Rusty. Kind of like Russia’s meddling with Iran.

Actually we invented the mordern variance of the strategy. Containment policy – funding proxy alliances (even with unscrupulous people) to stall the spread of Communism until it starved itself. In these present cases it’s being used against America to both gain advantage and prevent its restoration.

The truth – I’ve been thinking about this one a lot – is that I don’t believe Imam Obama is supremely loyal to the Islamic World but to himself. He wishes he could be – he’s certainly sympathetic to the faith and believes in the veracity of its mission. Certainly its inspired him to lead his political party to suicide bomb the US Economy and Constitution.

But Obama will not sacrifice himself (his power) for Allah as commanded because his logic and education dictates that this life is all he has to ‘change the world.’ It’s the Western in him. It’s the way he had to be to do what he did. I think he hates that fact, reflected indisputably in not just how he came to rip out the backbone of this country’s greatness, but take a sledge hammer to its very foundational values while lavishing in the luxuries of everything its produced.

He only stirred up this issue to cause more division and chaos, besides his profound respect and envy for the Islamic way. Each time this snake bites and slithers away, we’re left as the anti-bodies to try and halt the spread of the poison. How many more strikes will it take to paralyze the body, the snake and the anti-bodies wonder. The longer it takes, his hate and ruthlessness only continue to consume him.

This November, we’ll chop the head from the body – but the head can still strike, and will the poison take us..

So much for tolerance, reaching out, and bridge-building. The FU mosque developers just told Gov. Patterson to FO.

    No provocation intended, I’m sure.

In the meantime, Nanzi Peloser wants opponents of the FU mosque investigated. She can start with me… I’m home all day.

  5. Natural Born Citizen says:

BHO and Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf have a lot in common, they both speak out of both sides of there mouth. BHO has a habit of saying one thing to one crowd, (clinging to your guns, and religion) and then turns around and walks back what he said with a different crowd. He basicly panders to the crowd in front of him. The Imam holds the same qualities. Outside of the US or in front of a like-minded crowd his rhetoric is different and in fact shows that he is misrepresenting himself to the American people. He has publicly stated in Arabic that he see’s no need for discussions amoung conflicting religions. He also wrote a book stating he wants to own 9/11 and use it as a recruitment tool. He follows the goals of the Muslim Brotherhood of promoting Islam and Sharia law in-order to take over Western Civilization from within.

This is Taqiyya in action. Pay close attention to all the lies and deceptions of the Ground Zero mosque developers. They are reacting to every criticism and creating alternate realities through deception to try and placate the controversy. First it was a mosque, but now it’s a community center like the YMCA. First it was Cordoba House, now it’s Park51. First the location so close to “9/11” was “iconic”, now it’s “not even close to Ground Zero”.

Newsbusters found some good evidence that the location is all that mattes to Imam Rauf:

This is a no brainer to the regulars here at S&L, is it not?

It is all about our sworn enemies building a victory symbol to cast a shadow on the hearts we wear on our sleeves.
They aren’t going to back down from where they want to rub America’s nose into the smokin’ hole they created………with glee I might add.

Why doesn’t anyone tie this into the appalling monument they want to erect in Pennsylvania. My God…………is this where we have lowered ourselves?

The Hamasque may get built but I foresee a string of incidents that will bring blood to the streets of NYC.

Just the beginning because we have a retarded leader and flunkies kneeling towards Mecca.

    • JohnMG says:

If left to me, that building would never see a topping-out party. If they think 9-11 left a smoking hole in the ground…….well.

But since Patterson, Obama, Pelosi, and their like are so concerned with constitutional rights, (yeah, I know…) maybe a bunch of us could open up a butcher shop across the street, or a bar-b-que shack featuring smoked pork loin. Maybe somebody could “accidentally” spill a HUGE quantity of pig blood on the site. Repeatedly. How hard would that be?

Where is the outrage among the people of New York?? Are they too meek to practice their own home-grown acts of civil disobedience? How hard would it be to run these camel-shagging sons-a-bitches off with the very things with which they seem to have a phobia? Pork of any kind! Lard! Guts! Blood!

Come on, New York. Get your balls out of cold storage and beat these assholes at their ownn game. In spades!!

    • tranquil.night says:

I agree whole-heartedly John. Let’s make that whole area Tolerance Street. Nudists, cult anarchists & nihilists, crazy hillbillies. California has some extra child and sexual predators we can loan.

Oh, speaking of tolerance, how can we forget our best friends from our less fortunate neighboring country to the South? You know, your everyday murderers, drug smugglers. Let’s get a community center for them in there too.

The Moron and the Witch both reiterated their lunatic positions today.

So it must be a strategy, not random brain farts.

They probably think that anything that is a distraction from the Obamy Depression is a good thing for November.

These are the same people who expected to win a landslide by jamming Obamycare down the country’s throats.

What does it say about the country that elected them?

I quite agree. Useful idiots…and scary to boot.

“What does it say about the country that elected them?”

Except for the 40 odd % on the government dole, also
useful idiots, the rest were brainwashed by the lapdog
press. Journolist members, as well as most other MSM
are accountable for intentionally misleading the American
public. AND John Q public, in general, needs to take
responsibility for the fact they didn’t do their homework
allowing someone else to think for them. Let’s hope an
important lesson was learned this past POTUS election.

Shocking contrast! Denial of rebuilding St. Nicholas Church destroyed 9/11, compared to muslim only mosque’s building has no trouble.

Plan to rebuild Greek Orthodox church at ground zero remains puzzle to R.I., N.Y. clergy

      By Richard C. Dujarin August 19, 2010

NEWPORT, R.I. –– As controversy continues to swirl about the plans by a Muslim group to build an 11-story mosque a couple of blocks from ground zero, some Greek Orthodox Christians here and in New York say they are puzzled as to why there has been so little progress in the rebuilding of yet another house of worship. St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, a tiny, four-story building that had been located directly in front of the second tower, at 155 Cedar St. was destroyed in the collapse of the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001. It has yet to be rebuilt, even though there had been assurances as late as two years ago that the church would have the Port Authority’s permission to erect a new slightly larger structure at 130 Liberty St., about 100 yards from the original one.

“The Port Authority said we would be hearing from them, but we have not heard anything,” said the priest

In a statement Wednesday, Port Authority spokesman Steven Sigmund said the Port Authority thought it had reached an agreement with the church in 2008 but that the church then began to make more demands, such as a right to review plans for a Vechicle Security Center, that was to be built underneath the church as part of the reconfiguring of the World Trade Center.

He said the Port Authority made a final offer that included a commitment of “up to $60 million” toward the project, but that the offer was rejected by the church.

      {however this is denied, and Port Authority have changed their story several times}

Father Arey says none of that was ever communicated to church officials, who have yet to hear from the Port Authority.

“This has never been about money,” he said, contending that the church had done whatver the Port Authority asked, and always anticipated paying for the church with private donations.

The Rev. Andrew George, pastor of the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation in Craston,…“The real question is why is the Port Authority trying to renege?”

The Rev. George Economou, the pastor of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church in Newport, said…

“I am puzzled as to why the Muslims would be allowed to build a center so close to Ground Zero while a church — that stood at that site many years even before the World Trade Center — would get such a run-around.”

Human Events: Mosque Moves Forward, Yet Church in Limbo
      by Mark Impomeni 08/09/2010

St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, which once sat right across the street from the World Trade Center, was crushed under the weight of the collapse of Tower Two on September 11, 2001. St. Nicholas was the only church to be lost in the attacks, and nine years later, while City of New York officials are busy removing every impediment to the building of the Cordoba mosque two blocks from the site, St. Nicholas’ future remains unclear.

The last bit of hopeful news for St. Nicholas came two years ago, in July 2008, when church officials and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey announced a deal which would have allowed the church to be rebuilt about two blocks from its original location.

The Port Authority agreed to give the church a parcel of land at Liberty and Greenwich Streets,…

Trouble emerged after St. Nicholas announced its plans to build a traditional Greek Orthodox church building, 24,000 square feet in size, topped with a grand dome.

Port Authority officials told the church to cut back the size of the building and the height of the proposed dome, limiting it to rising no higher than the World Trade Center memorial. The deal fell apart for good in March 2009, when the Port Authority abruptly ended the talks after refusing to allow church officials to review plans for the garage and screening area underneath. Sixteen months later, the two sides have still not met to resume negotiations.

St. Nicholas Church’s difficulty in getting approvals to rebuild stands in stark contrast to the treatment that the developers of the proposed Cordoba mosque have received…

      The mosque is proposed to rise 13 stories, far above the height of the World Trade Center memorial, with no height restrictions imposed. {!}

… Demos said. “The Port Authority is insular and simply doesn’t care about public opinion. They are simply not making this a priority. Chris Ward is the Port Authority director and he is not allowing this to go forward.”

For its part, the Port Authority says it had no choice but to break off negotiations with the church to avoid delaying the World Trade Center project any longer. The authority said….The church continues to have the right to rebuild at their original site, and we will pay fair market value for the underground space beneath that building.”

Demos said it is the church that has been unjustly delayed. “One place of worship was destroyed in the attacks. That should be the first thing on that board’s agenda. That should be the first priority,” he said. “There were actually relics of St. Nicholas in that church that were lost in the attacks…”

NOTE: I saw pictures of the original church next to WTC and it had a cross on top.

In my state in the last 3 decades I recall 3 incidents.

One the woman who got prayer out of the schools tried to get a statue of Jesus taken down as people should be able to drive on a highway without seeing a religious
symbol. It was a historical spot, not sure on govt or private property. The woman lost, and of course was later murdered for taking her orgs money and running. Her son became a Christian.

One muslim tried to get a cross romoved on a church property on a highway same for same reason he lost.

One muslim sued a city for a cross on public property and he won.

If a cross offends you think of the lower case letter “t”.
If a statue of Jesus or Mary offends you, just pretend they are statues of people which is common.
