MoveOn-er Bites Off Protester’s Finger

From the local Los Angeles television station KTLA:

Blood found near the scene of the rally

Man’s Finger Bitten Off in Scuffle at Health Care Rally

September 3, 2009

THOUSAND OAKS — A 65-year-old man had his finger bitten off Wednesday evening at a health care rally in Thousand Oaks, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff’s investigators were called to Hillcrest and Lynn Road at 7:26 p.m.

About 100 protesters sponsored by MoveOn.org were having a rally supporting health care reform. A group of anti-health care reform protesters formed across the street.

A witness from the scene says a man was walking through the anti-reform group to get to the pro-reform side when he got into an altercation with the 65-year-old, who opposes health care reform.

The 65-year-old was apparently aggressive and hit the other man, who then retaliated by biting off his attacker’s pinky, according to Karoli from DrumsnWhistles.

The man took his finger and walked to Los Robles hospital for treatment. Doctors reattached the finger, which was said to have been severed in half. He has since been released, according to a hospital spokesperson.

Neither man has been identified.

Sheriff’s officials are investigating the incident.

Note that an astroturfing paid hireling from MoveOn is the alleged perpetrator here. We had to read the artfully written article several times to make that out clearly.

Even so, this was reported by the Los Angeles Times exactly wrong:

Man bites off man’s finger at Obama healthcare rally

September 3, 2009

Here’s a weird little piece of late-breaking news about the nation’s healthcare reform debate:

A 65-year-old man at a Wednesday night California rally supporting President Obama’s embattled reform ideas had a finger bitten off during a scuffle with anti-reform protesters.

Ventura County sheriff’s deputies were called to  Lynn Road and Hillcrest Drive in Thousand Oaks near Los Angeles, according to TV station KTLA.

There, an estimated 100 supporters of healthcare reform affiliated with MoveOn.org had gathered as part of a nationwide array of pre-Labor Day rallies to attract attention in support of Obama’s reform plans currently before Congress.

Instead, the rally attracted the attention of a group of anti-healthcare-reform protesters across the street.

Initial police reports say that one pro-protester moved into the group of anti-protesters.

Some angry words were exchanged.

One protester punched another, a witness told KTLA.

A scuffle ensued. And the pro-protester had a finger bitten off

How typical, is it not?

    KTLA is in bed with the LA Times locally. A friend of mine writes stories for the local paper here where this happened. Here is her take:

    As she points out the Moveon.org person went over to the anti-protestors and started a fight then bit off the mans finger.

    What then is the future of Liberalism –– Liberalism “in the debased contemporary American sense of the term,” as Mark Steyn has called it?

    If Liberalism still has any contribution to offer, it is probably as a symbol of the human capacity for self-delusion or delusion by ideologies. All evidence points overwhelmingly to the futility and stupidity of Liberal hope-and-change ideology. After a century of failures to build a Marxist utopia –– countless experiments attempted in dozens of countries, deploying the awesome powers of totalitarian governments, often including the use of overwhelming violence, and usually at terrible cost in lives and treasure –– we find that Liberals have nothing of importance to show for their efforts. Not even the pinky finger of a 65-year-old tea party protester.

    All of their grandiose redistributionist schemes have failed. Their schemes have failed everywhere, across-the-board, without exception. Instead, we find that the only significant progress that has been achieved in the world is that which has been produced by capitalism, science, and technology. Thus although a Liberal may bite off a man’s finger, it is only Western, capitalist medicine that has the capability to reattach the finger!

    But even as we recognize the failures of Liberals and Liberalism, we should be big enough to give credit where credit is due. There are still a few contributions that Liberals have made to this country, and to Western civilization in general, things that enrich our lives and for which we might be grateful:

    – the boom in private schools;
    – the buyer’s market in real estate;
    – brisk sales of guns and ammo;
    – that special ingenuity that enables Liberals to visualize all different kinds of other-people’s-stuff that may lend itself to redistribution –– our money and property, our neighborhoods, hospital emergency rooms, areas of our country, our medical care, parts of our bodies, and years of our lives, etc.;
    – victimology –– a new branch of sociology and a whole new field of study that serves as a jobs program for historians, economists, political scientists, the literati, artists, and other unemployables, most of whom can be conveniently confined in out-of-the-way places such as government offices or universities (although the harm they do there is another matter);
    – the sandwich maneuver; and
    – lots of new reasons for drinking.

    I would be negligent indeed if I did not hasten to add that, as a result of our long personal acquaintance with them, we have learned a few useful rules of social conduct when mixing with Liberals in public:

    – make sure your tetanus vaccinations are up to date;
    – keep a close watch on your young children at all times;
    – never take a personal check;
    – always carry a packet of disposable sanitary hand wipes;
    – the importance of a concealed carry permit; and
    – the comfort of prayer and Scripture in time of stress (e.g., Numbers 11:33).

    Note the use of the term “anti-reform”.

    So, if you don’t want the government making all of your health-care decisions, you are against reform.

    They have an army of linguists twisting the language to help them trick us into willingly electing lives as theird serfs.

    I thought MoveOn members were mostly vegan…

    Still, that’s one way to give them the finger.

    “As she points out the Moveon.org person went over to the anti-protestors and started a fight then bit off the mans finger.”

    Obammy’s Green Shirts are jumping to action. Hitler’s Brown Shirts had similar tactics (although I’m not sure they including biting off digits) to try and intimidate the rational people of the US and possibly start a riot where use of force would be justified. They did this quite a bit in the Jewish ghettos. This all led to Krystalnacht where thousand of Jewish owned businesses were ransacked. Like they say, those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

    Petronius, this MoveOn ahole is lucky the 67 year old gent was not a concealed carry permit holder. If this bozo tried a stunt like this here in Vermont, they might be holding his wake today.

  6. Imus Signs with Fox Business News, I don’t know if Obama’s FCC Diversity Czar has issued a statement.

    “As she points out the Moveon.org person went over to the anti-protestors and started a fight then bit off the mans finger.”

    The AP version of the story seems to have gotten that fact correct, although they say the finger was not reattached.

    The rest of the AP article, predictably, is dripping with bias: “Unlike all other wealthy nations, the United States lacks universal health care. Most health insurance is obtained through employers, and almost 50 million of the 300 million Americans are without it. Barack Obama came to the presidency in January with almost unprecedented bipartisan popularity and strong backing for plan to make health care accessible to all Americans. But opposition has grown because of conservative attacks leading to increasingly raucus protests in recent weeks.” And their writer couldn’t help but smugly note that the poor old guy used Medicare to pay for his hospital visit.

  9. Liberals Demise

    Is this what they mean when they say, “We will extract our pound of flesh?”
