Tea Party Says At Least 800 Hind Co Votes Were Illegal

From Mississippi News Now:

MS Tea Party claims at least 800 illegal votes in Hinds Co. alone

By Brad Conaway, Courtney Ann Jackson | June 26, 2014

JACKSON, MS – The Mississippi Tea Party President says they’ve found evidence that nearly 800 voters crossed over in Tuesday’s runoff election that should not have been allowed to vote Republican.

"We have some evidence that we are concerned about," explained president Laura Van Overschelde. "We’re here to ensure the integrity of the electoral process. There’s a great concern over a great many of the irregularities and enrolling of voters."

Are they looking for ‘hanging Thads’? Oddly enough, this article never bothers to spell it out, but the McDaniel people are looking for people who voted in the Democrat primary and then voted later in the Republican primary run-off. That is not allowed under Mississippi law. (MS Code 23-15-575, states: “No person shall be eligible to participate in any primary election unless he intends to support the nominations made in which he participates.”)

That is to say, anyone can vote in Mississippi’s initial Democrat or Republican primary. But if there is a run-off and you voted in the initial Republican primary, you cannot vote in the runoff Democrat primary or vice-versa. If you did not vote in either of the initial primaries you are allowed to vote in either run-off. But that is the ‘irregularities’ that are being referenced here.

However, Hinds County GOP Chairman Pete Perry says there are some precincts where he knows workers marked the wrong column and corrected them the day of the election. He believes that could account for at least 200 of those being cited by the Tea Party.

So the GOP Chairman for Hinds county is claiming there are no irregularities. And never mind that mostly black Hinds county had the biggest uptick in turnout. It was up almost 50% from the last primary. And this was just a run-off election in a ‘off year.’ Also, for the record, Connie Cochran, the sister-in-law of Thad Cochran, just happens to be on the Mississippi election commission. She is also from Hinds County.

"The poll workers marked the wrong column," said Perry. "We know there are errors that happened that day and the poll workers out there corrected it. And they’re just trying to make up numbers to make it look a lot better than it is."

So the Republican establishment hate the Tea Party so much they will ignore voter fraud. That is just beautiful.

Members of McDaniel’s campaign staff and some supporters began sorting through voter books on Thursday morning at the Hinds County courthouse. They were looking for any "irregularities".  In Hinds County, poll workers used the Democratic primary books for the GOP runoff in an attempt to prevent crossover voters.

"It’s the easiest way for a poll worker to be able to look and see," explained Perry. "Instead of printing out a list that you’ve got to work from the list, when I look up your name I can look right there and tell if you voted in the Democratic primary."

However, the group from McDaniel’s camp is still searching those records to try to find anyone who voted as a Democrat on June 3rd and with the GOP on the 24th (the runoff.)

If McDaniel were a liberal Democrat like Al Franken, the counting and recounting and re-recounting would not end until he was safely elected. But because he is a conservative, this will go exactly nowhere.

  1. yadayada

is it any wonder why low infos have no confidence in the electoral system? both parties claim shenanigans and irregularities (and libs are frequently found to have committed blatant fraud) but NOTHING ever comes from it.
well, except franken. that in itself should be reason enough for gop to prosecute.
but with the majority of the gop inflicted with debilitating linguine spinitis, the fraud is now so routine as to become normal

  2. The GOP is just as capable of rigging elections as the Dem Mafia. The RNC really, really, really could not bear to have a McDaniel win ..

You and I are surrounded by evil, maleficent, demonic madness.
