2 observations:

Point 1:
Why has the administration been so quick to label this a terrorist attack? Obviiously, it is, but consider. The man acted alone. Nobody was injured. There was very little (perhaps no) evidence when they said he was a terrorist. Contrast the incident with the Fort Hood massacre, in which Hasan killed 14, had loudly proclaimed his fealty with radical Islam for years, was in direct contact with known terrorist abettors, had been tracked by the FBI and CIA for years, and screamed Allahu Akbar while he murdered his innocent victims.

I don't know the answer to that, but it seems strange, doesn't it? It couldn't be that Hasan was well known to the authorities, and probably had been reviewed by Holder and perhaps by the Moron, could it? Or that the intelligence about him only became crystal clear on the Moron's watch? Or that the level of mayhem would obviously be a blot on the Moronistration if the admitted what that the man is a terrorist?
a) Basically, it's a massive coverup to protect the administration.
b) There is little down-side to calling the latest nutter a terrorist. Nobody got hurt.
c) They can blame everything on Bush. He put the TSA in place.

Point 2:
How many billions of dollars have been spent on the TSA over the last 8 years? Thousands of employees, imense spending on databases and screening technology. Coordination with dozens of foreign security agencies. One of the highest priorities in the government. Huge public debate about methods and procedures. Massive impositions on the lives of travelers.

And the nutter was brought down by a few passengers.

But I'm sure things will be different with ObamyCare. With 2700 pages of carefully reasoned legislation, to be followed by hundreds of thousands of pages of detailed procedures, very little will be left to chance.

We are in good hands.

"The perpetrator has been identified as Abdul Farouk Abdulmutallab"

Alas, another fine, red-haired Irish boy gone astray. *sigh*

If only there was a way we could identify these perpetrators.....a visual means by which we could monitor our suspicions.

Terror alert will not be elevated, nor any extra precautions ordered, according to spokesman for Head of DHS.

Guess, Tea-partiers, U.S. soldiers still top
the list.
Since anti-tax payers is on the list, how come Obama is only rewarding and giving jobs to all of the tax-cheats bankrupting America.

The perpetrator has been identified as Abdul Farouk Abdulmutallab, 23, an engineering student at University College London.

Notice how once again this would be terrorist is not poor or disenfranchised, as Mr. Obama and the rest assure us they all are.

I heard the status color has not gone up, with some hee-humming debate if the government should raise it.
All the liberal lawmakers, CZAR's & HSD are probably sleeping on flights to Hawaii after it was said they stayed up all night and doubled the numbers the medicare reductions.
I can't believe plane employees don't even have pepper spray, yet alone something for when this happens. Imagine the passengers feared beating the terrorists to at least unconsciousness, they be arrested and labeled extremists, by terrorist empathizing Obama.
Yet another ATTACK, that Obama refuses to admit under his reign, as warned by Cheney.

While, FOX O'Rielly laughes, CNN is doing continued live coverage. One reporter said this was suppose to be a bigger attack the main target on our soldiers overseas.

A government official said he had a file in security data base and on "no fly" list, and that he did not go through 2nd screening at Amsterdam's high security airport.

One passenger said the terrorist was screaming like a maniac about Allah and Afganistan and 5 large men pined him down.

One reporter said he used a sophisticated device. One reporter said she heard he used hydrogen peroxide "powder" for hair treatments you can get at beauty shops. She said they've been putting the powder in batteries and into their cameras.

Obama will probably extradite him back to Yemen, after he get's the finest free medical health care.

TSA has been instucted to not be judgemental.

Just because a guy wants to put himself on fire and blow a plane up doesn't mean he's trying to create a man-made disaster.

Maybe somebody keyed his car. Or maybe he had trouble getting dates.

But one thing we know for sure.......there hasn't been a manmade disaster by a granny in this country since 9/11. We make damn sure THOSE teabaggers can't do any damage to one of the largest Muslim countries in the world.

Bilk, I hear ya, I just now caught it on FOX and their alert caption was
"WH: Recent airplane incident attempted terrorist attack" and the reporter didn't tell his muslim name, and no one got hurt. I thought 2 were "HARMED"? I guess if he'd put a hole in the plane and 280 died, but

an "INCIDENT" ?
an "ATTEMPTED" attack"? he carried it out.

It's getting better; various news sources are saying that the man was listed on the no-fly list.

So much for TSA security. (Remember that even though the plane boarded overseas, TSA is ultimately responsible for the security of all aircraft entering the United States.)

The Wall Street Journal has a great article up now, and doesn't mince words in its headline:

Midair Bomb Attempt Fails

By Peter Speigel, Cam Simpson and Neal E. Boudette

DETROIT-- A passenger on a Detroit-bound Northwest Airlines flight tried to detonate an explosive device that was strapped to his leg and later told investigators that he was trying to blow up the plane and had affiliations with al Qaeda, according to a senior U.S. official.

The passenger was identified by authorities as Abdul Mudallad, a 23-year-old Nigerian national, according to Rep. Peter King, a New York Republican who is the ranking member of the House Homeland Security Committee.

The device was technologically advanced and potentially devastating, Mr. King said. "This was not a firecracker," he said.

Stephanie van Herk, a passenger from the Netherlands who was in seat 18B, said the Northwest plane had lowered its landing gear when she heard a loud bang. At first she thought the plane might have gotten a flat tire, but then she said saw a flame leap from the lap of a man sitting in the row behind her in the window seat, 19A.

"It was higher than the seat," said Ms. van Herk, who was traveling to Detroit on route to a vacation in New York.

"Then everyone started screaming. It was panic," Ms. van Herk, 22 years old, said. She said the flight attendants shouted, "What are you doing? What are you doing?"

Mr. King said the suspect's name did not appear on any of the terrorist watch lists maintained by U.S. authorities, but that the Nigerian national did turn up "hot" in other terrorism-related databases maintained by intelligence officials.

Mr. Mudallad suffered 3rd-degree burns when the device detonated on approach to Detroit, according to Mr. King. He said none of the other passengers was seriously injured.

The man told investigators that he was given the device by al Qaeda operatives in Yemen, where he was also given instructions on how to detonate it, the U.S. official said.

"This guy claims he is tied to al Qaeda, specifically in Yemen," the official said. "He claims he was on orders from al Qaeda in Yemen." …

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB126178158688405369.html

The article continues:

"There's definitely a terrorist nexus -- that's the term being used by the people I'm talking to in Washington," Mr. King said following his briefings Friday. He would not say, however, whether there was a direct link to al Qaeda.

Mr. King said authorities were scrambling to find out where a security breach might have occurred. The plane departed from Lagos, Nigeria, and had a stopover in Amsterdam before flying to Detroit, according to Mr. King. He also said there was no intelligence indicating it was part of a wider plot involving other attempted attacks, but that authorities weren't taking any chances.

So he was able to get it on the plane in Nigeria, and then pass through security in Amsterdam with the device as well.

So much for Amsterdam's airport security as well.

Let's hear it for even Europeans who now realize that being docile can be fatal:

Once passengers realized the suspect's pants were on fire, they called for water, according to Ms. Van Herk, her sister, Dominique van Herk, and their cousin, Celeste van Herk.

The man was pulling his burning pants down, Stephanie van Herk said. She and several other passengers got water from the galley and the man was doused with water. Then a male Dutch passenger jumped on the perpetrator, Ms. van Herk said.

Meanwhile, it's nice to see the FAA and airlines continue to act like ostriches in the face of threats:

Regardless of what the investigation uncovers about the suspect's motives or the material that ignited, Friday's incident is likely to renew debate over whether additional security systems are necessary to allow flight attendants to alert cockpit crews about cabin emergencies.

In addition to calling pilots on the intercom, airlines and security experts for years have debated the concept of providing cabin crews with additional ways to warn pilots about potential threats from passengers, Video cameras, wireless alerting devices or some type of discreet alarm switch have all been discussed.

So far, the Federal Aviation Administration and many airlines have been resisting such mandates, arguing that they would be expensive and unnecessary.

Just attack the flight attendants and the pilots won't know anything until it's too late.

It worked great eight years ago, why change?

At least they won't have far to transport this guy - from Detroit to Illinois.

Meanwhile the NYT and much of the mainstream media is still in full-bore downplay mode, stating the man just "claimed" ties to al Qaeda and simply detonated some "innocent firecrackers." Yeah.

Meanwhile, it’s nice to see the FAA and airlines continue to act like ostriches in the face of threats:

Regardless of what the investigation uncovers about the suspect’s motives or the material that ignited, Friday’s incident is likely to renew debate over whether additional security systems are necessary to allow flight attendants to alert cockpit crews about cabin emergencies.

Just attack the flight attendants and the pilots won’t know anything until it’s too late.

It worked great eight years ago, why change?

At least they won’t have far to transport this guy – from Detroit to Illinois.

Meanwhile the NYT and much of the mainstream media is still in full-bore downplay mode, stating the man just “claimed” ties to al Qaeda and simply detonated some “innocent firecrackers.” Yeah.

How many Islamic officials will issue an apology for this attack by an extremist who couldn't possibly be representing his religion?

    [Crickets Chirping]

Will the MainStreamMedia wet themselves apologizing for an Islamic attack on this Christian Holiday?

    [Tick Tock Tick Tock...]

Will the MainStreamMedia wet themselves squealing that Muslims also think Jesus is a holy figure in Islam?

I love how Fox News is careful to soft-pedal the Al Qaeda comment:

The suspect, who ABC reported suffered second-degree burns, told federal investigators he was connected to Al Qaeda, though authorities are questioning the veracity of that statement, Fox News confirmed. A federal situational awareness bulletin noted that the explosive was acquired in Yemen with instructions as to when it should be used, ABC said.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,581153,00.html

So even when they succeed in their task, any possible link to terrorism must be downplayed.

Otherwise people might think there's still a threat…
