An Ohio website, Central Ohioans Against Terrorism, got wind of these activities and posted about them.

This attention caused the following “clarification to be issued, which for some odd reason was posted on Asian Americans for Obama ’08 site:

National Muslim Voter Registration Day 2008 on 9/29-10/1

Posted by Eugenia Beh

CLARIFICATION: Since there has apparently been some confusion about this, we’d like to clarify that Muslim Americans for Obama has made clear to all its volunteers that all voter registration activity is strictly non-partisan (no advocacy on behalf of any candidate or party, whether written or verbal). None of the religious institutions listed are sponsoring or participating in the voter registration activity themselves. And though it is not required by law for non-partisan voter registration at a tax-exempt institution, volunteers are also staying on adjoining property.

Muslim Americans for Obama will be working to get out the vote for Sen. Obama, and they need help registering voters! Volunteers need not be Muslim, though appropriate attire is advised (no sleeveless tops; long pants and ankle-length skirts recommended).

You get that?

Muslim-Americans For Obama is a “non-partisan” group.

But it would seem that someone forgot to tell MAFO that:

From their “About Us” page:

About MAFO 2008:

Muslim-Americans for Obama (MAFO) was launched in August 2008 to provide a vehicle for Muslim-American supporters of Barack Obama to organize and mobilize our fellow citizens to get out the vote to elect Barack Obama the next president of the United States.

We are not affiliated in any way with a similarly-named site: muslimsforobama08.com. MAFO is not endorsed by the Obama campaign. While MAFO itself is not a 501(c)3, some of the information on this site may pertain to events and activities undertaken by other nonprofits.

Special thanks to MAFO members Faiz Ahmad, Shahed Amanullah, Zeba Iqbal, KWJ, Abdul-Rahim Mathon, Meena, Aftab Siddiqui, & Zeenat for their hard work on helping us expand MAFO.

And above all, thanks to the MAFO community whose hard work in the coming weeks and months embody the strength of the American ideal.

Mission Statement:

Although there is only a short period of time until the election on November 4th, there is much work to be done for supporters of Barack Obama’s candidacy. Muslim-Americans for Obama (MAFO 2008) was formed to offer a vehicle for Muslim-Americans to mobilize quickly and effectively so that our community turns out in great numbers for Barack Obama on Election Day. Given the role that “being a Muslim” has played so far in this campaign (most frequently as a slur or ‘allegation’ that Obama is himself a ‘secret’ Muslim), we also wanted to create a space that rises above such sophomoric and hateful rhetoric, in order to assert the following core beliefs:

• That we support Barack Obama because, among other reasons, he rejects the politics of fear, challenging our nation to embrace its collective identity, where each American has a stake in the success and well-being of every American.

• That we have a duty both as Muslims and Americans to organize and vote.

• That our role and responsibility as concerned American citizens in this or any election should not be to silence our voice, out of fear of being ‘spoilers’ or of being identified as a Muslim: this succumbs to anti-Muslim fear-mongering that will only fester in continued ignorance.

• That we have the same rights to petition and assemble endowed by the Constitution as do the Christian, Jewish, Hindu, Agnostic, or Atheistic communities, or any community for that matter.

• That, until the Muslim-American community is effectively organized in the United States, it will continue to be vulnerable to slurs and misperceptions and our many contributions and service to this country we love will go unnoticed.

While we are taught like every American to respect and embrace freedom of speech, we will not tolerate hate speech on MAFO 2008. Our goal is as serious as it is urgent: to register our voice and support for Barack Obama in this historic election. We do not have the luxury of time to engage those who stoke the politics of fear to divide our country and marginalize hard-working Americans who happen to be Muslim.

MAFO membership is not limited to Muslim-Americans. We invite all Americans who share in Barack Obama’s vision of a diverse but united America to join us as we help elect Barack Obama the next President of the United States.

It should also be pointed out that even this is a lie:

We are not affiliated in any way with a similarly-named site: muslimsforobama08.com.

For the WhoIs domain name record for muslimsforobama08.com tells us this:

But it is apparently okay to tell Kafirs anything.

  1. Steve says:

The Ohio website has added the following information:

They also claim that they are only doing activities on “adjoining property”, but that is belied by the fact that event postings on their own Muslim Americans for Obama website indicate that some of the voter registration/get out the vote booths are located inside the mosque. How exactly is that not sponsorship by the mosque? Can’t keep their lies straight, it seems. (And yes, we have saved screen shots of the evidence before they pull it down. Hello, IRS?)

Update #3: A quick aside, I would point out that one of the mosques targeted by Muslim Americans for Obama, Dar al-Hijrah in Falls Church, VA, is the mosque that hosted two of the 9/11 hijackers, Nawaf Al Hazmi and Khalid Al Mihdhar. Their former imam, Anwar al-Aulaqi, is wanted by the FBI for questioning about his role in helping these two terrorists while he was serving mosques in both San Diego and Northern VA. Read this Washington Post article, “Imam from VA mosque now thought to have aided Al-Qaeda” for more background on al-Aulaqi (who now lives in Yemen), and this previous COAT post discussing al-Aulaqi’s Central Ohio ties.

“for some odd reason was posted on Asian Americans for Obama ‘08”
We’ve seen how in Europe Muslims are referred to as Asian. I’m guessing that’s the case here.

It’s sad that so many people tuned into CNN and their like will never see this blatant pattern that comes with Obama. Our Islamic enemies and socialist adversaries have all come out to support this Manchurian nightmare and we’re supposed to believe he has this country’s best interest in mind. When he holds up four fingers how many will CNN report? Seriously.
