Muslims Only Own Half WTC Mosque Site

From the New York Post:

Half-baked mosque

By ISABEL VINCENT and MELLISA KLEIN
August 8, 2010

Not so fast.

The developers of the controversial mosque proposed near Ground Zero own only half the site where they want to construct the $100 million building, The Post has learned.

One of the two buildings on Park Place is owned by Con Edison, even though Soho Properties told officials and the public that it owns the entire parcel. And any potential sale by Con Ed faces a review by the state Public Service Commission.

Not that this will be any obstacle, if Mayor Bloomberg and Mr. Paterson have anything to do with it.

“We never heard anything about Con Ed whatsoever,” said a stunned Julie Menin, the chairwoman of Community Board 1, which passed a May resolution supporting the mosque

It sounds like this New York City Community Board did not bother to do much due diligence. We wonder how much the members make a year.

Rep. Peter King, who opposes the mosque, said the developers seemed to be “operating under false pretenses.”

“I wonder what else they are hiding,” said King (R-LI). “If we can’t have the full truth on this, what can we believe?”

These people don’t waste the truth on infidels.

Sharif El-Gamal, the head of Soho Properties, first came forward in 2006 seeking to buy the empty building at 45-47 Park Place, said Melvin Pomerantz, whose family owned the property.

Pomerantz said El-Gamal eventually raised $4.8 million cash for 45-47 Park Place. El- Gamal paid an extra $700,000 to take over the lease with Con Ed for the building next door. The lease expires in 2071

Once again, we still have not heard where Mr. El-Gamal got all of this cash.

Con Ed said El-Gamal told the utility in February that he wanted to exercise the purchase option in his $33,000- a-year lease for the former substation.

The utility is now doing an appraisal to determine the property value, and it would be up to El-Gamal to decide whether to accept the price, the utility said. The price is estimated at $10 million to $20 million.

“We are following our legal obligations under the lease. We will not allow other considerations to enter into this transaction,” Con Ed said.

Really? What part of “public utility” does Con Edison not understand? Let’s hope New Yorkers remember this attitude when it comes time to pay their utilities bill.

The sale proposal will go to the Public Service Commission, where it could possibly face a vote by a five-member board controlled by Gov. Paterson.

El-Gamal told The Post his long-term lease was equivalent to ownership and that it even allowed him to demolish the building. Still, he said, he was determined to buy the property. “The cost is not an issue,” he said.

That is to say, ‘money is no object.’ And yet we are not allowed even to question where all of this money is coming from.

The building at 45-45 Park Place had been on the market for years with a sale price that at one point was $18 million.

Yes, the sale price was a lot higher – before 9/11.

It was owned by Stephen Pomerantz, who died in 2006. His widow, Kukiko Mitani, said she was in debt and desperate to unload the property even at a bargain price of $4.8 million to El- Gamal.

She said she thought El-Gamal wanted to build condos, not a mosque — but he should build whatever he wants.

Did Mr. El-Gamal buy the property under false pretenses? How shocking.

But of course Ms. Mitani doesn’t care, as long as she gets her money.

The Web site for the mosque and community-center project, now called Park 51, says it will be financed “with a mix of equity, financing and contributions.”

But just $200 in donations has come in so far, according to Ameena Meer, head of Muslims for Peace, the nonprofit accepting the contributions

Don’t worry. The rest is being financed with blood money.

    Always remember that Islam is a religion of peace. Because if you say it isn’t, they’ll kill you.

      Tell me…any chance this concern going public? Franchise? I know a lot of folks who would like a piece of that action…lol

      Must be Pork BBQ to work best.

      I was having wonderfully evil thoughts about walking back and forth in front of the mosque accidentally dripping BBQ juice all over the place on the PUBLIC sidewalk.

      Think about that…would they cross that trail of pork juice on their way to prayer? Or try to kill those who drip…Sharia law you know.

      Of course Bloomberg could be depended on to back them up.

      Nice dream though…

    What an annoyingly naive statement from your average empty-headed machine Republican.

    “These people don’t waste the truth on infidels.”

    What a perfect rebuttle.

    The truth is blatantly obvious with a little critical thinking and research. This Imam isn’t any smarter or sneakier than Barry O-blah-blah. In fact he’s just as frustratingly forward with the duplicity and arrogance. Frustrating because the very fact that this is happening is outrageous, par for the course in the Obamanation.

    I was searching for any “historical zoning requirements” which can make new buildings have to be built in same
    style era, which in this case is the 1800’s. And I think the “landmark” issue is good. I also found a muslim arguement that NYC’s first muslims gathered on Park Ave to pray & worship.

    Obama lived with his illegal muslim roommate when his mother & half-sister came to visit and stayed on Park Ave.

    Dreams From My Father by Barack Obama 1994

    pgs 122-123 excerpts: “They stayed with Sadik and me for a few nights, then moved to a condominium on Park Avenue that a friend of my mother’s had offered them while she was away….so my mother and sister spent most of their days exploring the city on their own. When we met for dinner, they would give me a detailed report of their adventures:…I would eat in silence until they were finished and then begin a long discourse on the problems of the city and the politics of the dispossessed. I scolded Maya for spending one evening watching TV instead of reading novels I’d bought for her. I instructed my mother on the various ways that foreign donors and international development organizations like the one she was working for bred dependence in the Third World. When the two of them withdrew to the kitchen, I would overhear Maya complaining to my mother.
    “Barry’s okay, isn’t he? I mean, I hope he doesn’t lose his cool and become one of those freaks you see on the streets around here.”

    I think that’s kind of muslim & sexist to have them cooking meals & washing dishes and ordering them what to do on their vacation. What job they should do. And he it clarifies his own admittance of his own marriage problems where he was detached from his family.

    Then, while as a Senator, Obama flew to Africa to help a relative get elected to be a dictator & enforce Sharia law is, and his belief the constitution was not written from a belief in God, seems to support gay marriage, and shows bigotry in his description of the Right’s problem is they are religious, and Democrats not being religious.
    One thing is for sure. Obama has honored Islam holidays, catered to Islamic radicals & terrorists, more than Americans.

    The Audacity of Hope by Barack Obama 2006
    (excerpts from Faith Chapter pgs 195-)
    The reason the doctor was considering voting for my opponent was not my position on abortion as such. Rather, he had read an entry that my campaign had posted on my website, suggesting that I would fight “right-wing ideologues who want to take away a woman’s right to choose.”..
    I checked my website and found the offending words. They were not my own; my staff had posted them to summarize my prochoice position during the Democratic primary..

    The single biggest gap in party affiliation among white Americans is not between men and women, or between those who reside in so-called red states and those who reside in blue states, but between those who attend church regularly and those who don’t. Democrats, meanwhile, are scrambling to “get religion,” even as the core segment of our constituency remains stubbornly secular in orientation, and fears-rightfully, no doubt-that the agenda of an assertively Christian nation may not make room for them or their life choices.

    But the growing political influence of the Christian right tells only part of the story…

    ….liberals get nervous. Those of us in public office may try to avoid the conversation about religious values altogether, fearful of offending anyone…
    Some on the left (although not those in public office) go further, dismissing religion in the public square as inherently irrational, intolerant, and therefore dangerous-and noting that, with its emphasis on personal salvation and the policing of private morality, religious talk has given conservatives cover to ignore questions of public morality, like poverty or corporate malfeasance.
    Such strategies of avoidance may work for progressives when the opponent is Alan Keyes…
    More fundamentally, the discomfort of some progressives with any hint of religiosity has often inhibited us from effectively addressing issues in moral terms. ……
    Our failure as progressives to tap into the moral underpinnings is not just rhetorical, though.
    I am not suggesting that every progressive suddenly latch on to religious terminology or that we abandon the fight for institutional change in favor of “a thousand points of light.”
    I am suggesting that if we progressives shed some of our own biases, we might recognize the values that both religious and secular people share when it comes to the moral and material direction of our country…..
    We need to take faith seriously not simply to block the religious right but to engage all persons of faith in the larger project of American renewal.

    For many practicing Christians, the same inability to compromise may apply to gay marriage. I find such a position troublesome, particularly in a society in which Christian men and women have been known to engage in adultery or other violations of their faith without civil penalty.
    ~~~~~~~~~
    I think Obama & the liberals are pushing Islam, because of Islam being the fastest growing religion in the world, they will get votes. And muslims will run and get all the votes based on religion alone.
      The buildings in the area (2 blocks or more – not sure) around Ground Zero have/are in process of applying for Landmark status. This building was the first one to be denied.
      As I said, I bet this council are the same drooling moonbats who held up the whole rebuild because they wanted a ‘reconciliation’ center.
      And oh btw – the ‘religion of peace’ activists developers – want to break ground on – Yes you guessed it September 11, 2011 – the 10th Anniversary of the act of war on America by 19 radical islamic terrorists.
      Is anyone over the age of 10 that stupid to believe that this isn’t a ‘conquered’ memorial to the ‘religion of peace’? And if they do – should they be holding any power in local, city, state or Federal positions?
    The 99 Stones cartoon Obama partnered with a muslim to make of new muslim superhero’s. This tailer starts with NYC background, and a mosque standing where the Statue of Liberty is. The muslim used the Quran to write this 9/11 9X11 = 99 to spread the quran around the world. It takes on more significance as Michelle is in Spain visited Gernada where the saved books were taken, until Spain defeated the giant mosque that the NYC mosque first named their new mosque.
    So, I think this explains Michelle’s official trip to Spain & visit to Grenada where parts of the quran were hidden (the 99)
    Along with naming Indonesia as the country, and example of the global Obama also, was critical of Ronald Reagan’s “… invasion of tiny, hapless Grenada”
      I noted the gushing and awestruck comments below the video on how wonderful this is.
      Such as “seems cool might even make ppl more open to eastern culture”
      We truly are raising a bunch of undisearning mush-minded kids. Then again look as some of their parent’s beliefs and behavior.
      Maybe Obama care will work out for us older folks after all. They will give us a pill so we don’t have to see all the heartbreaking “fundamental change” Obalmy and his muslim and commie buds will bring us in the future.
      This country is in for the fight of it’s life. This will continue way past November…way past 2012. These evil people have gained such a foot hold…with help from many of our own countrymen, like Bloomberg… that we are going to have to knuckle down take the gloves off and mean business. That is if there are still enough of us who love this country the way our parents did. They’ve done a fine job on brain washing our kids.
      This has been going on for thousands of years. We shouldn’t be too shocked that it’s hit our shores. Still its so hard to wrap your head around the thought processes that these Americans have to want to throw out their liberty and freedom and subject themselves to the evils of Islam and communists. Mind Boggling.
      I keep remembering right after 9/11, a muslim said they wouldn’t stop until the star and cresent flew over the WH. I laughed at such ridiculous thoughts.
      Fundamental change…
    • proreason says:
      I look for simple explanations, based on behavior that are universal.
      Many men want only to control women….the more women the better…the more control the better. That’s what I think Islam is really all about.
      And that in turn drives the fury of young Muslim men, because the old men control the women, and only a small percentage of the young men are born homosexuals. And that fury is re-directed by the old men into anger at infidels, or jews, or america, or technology, or whatever the villain of the day happens to be. So you have a handful of diseased old men directing the young men into jihad when in fact the young men are really furious at the old farts who are okey-doking them.
    • Rusty Shackleford says:
      “Still its so hard to wrap your head around the thought processes that these Americans have to want to throw out their liberty and freedom and subject themselves to the evils of Islam and communists.”
      jobeth, it dovetails into what I said in another thread. First, they get it in their heads that everything America does is bad. That feeds well into their own feelings of low self-worth. So, the “answer” is to change everything. What they are actually doing is the same as bored teenagers engaging in stupid and/or dangerous activity simply for something to do. “Anything’s gotta be better than this”, right?
      Fundamentally, it also touches on one of the problems with our government. Never, has the US government been satisfied to remain static. Bush 1 is the only guy in office I ever heard say, “Sometimes, you just have to wait and see”. That drew truckloads of criticism. Perhaps we are, as a nation, so used to half-hour sitcoms where all problems are neatly wrapped up by the end of the show, or..in an hour if it’s a two-parter that we forget that reality sometimes has a much longer timeline.
      Maybe we’re programed to read the last page of any book first and cannot wait to get to the chewy center. I dunno. I do know that other cultures are much better at patience than Americans.
      But back to my point, perhaps the reason socialists embrace “opposite-land” so heartily is because they have grown bored with the status quo. These people are incapable of sitting on the porch, looking upon all the good that exists and accepting it with the bad. Plus, their definition of good is a ball of taffy with flies, dirt and ant poison mixed in. I could draw a flow chart but you get the idea. Anything that a person says that the US did that was good, they will counter with a “why it was bad” point. Doesn’t matter that it may be incorrect.
      So they see the world as half-empty and are hell-bent to fill the glass….again not realizing the world will spin without their help. Sometimes doing nothing is EXACTLY what is needed. Case in point: GM and Chrysler. I can’t think of a better place to trim, make more efficient, cut salaries, benefits down to a realistic level and allow GM and Chrysler to make the best cars in the world, and let a bankruptcy in the private sector take its course. But, it will eventually implode under its own weight. Has to. And at far greater cost to the “employees” than they would have ever seen in 2008. Oh well. Thanks to government meddling.
      The meddlers and manipulators in office do not understand “don’t touch”. Their fingerprints are on everything that will eventually fail and is failing. Their own insecurity drives them to “fix” that which isn’t broken and to “make better” that which functions just fine on its own.
      For me, it’s like walking into the living room and seeing that my 3 year old has discovered the spray paint.
    Really great site TS!
    Answers why they can claim to be a “religion of peace” and still be such a murderous bunch.
    Seems that muhammad said that if two verses contradict each other its the latter that is to be followed.
    Guess which verses come first…peace or jihad and war?
    And since muhammad says its just fine and dandy to lie to “infidels” in order to further islam…They can claim to be peace loving all the while they lop your head off.
    Great religion.
    Another little tidbit I noted was that the earth is said to belong to allah.
    Now the Bible says that satan won the earth for a time.
    Umm…putting two and two together…. Just sayin’
    This would be a great page to print up and give to some of our starry eyed young people who want to be one with the world…including embracing all religions…you know peace and love and all that rot.
    (for the record, the lack of caps on certain words are by design.)
    • AcornsRNutz says:
      The tricky thing here is that the hadith are as revered and significant to the muslims as the koran, which is essentially a narrative from allah to muhammed. The hadith are a pile of literature, which most westerners who are all “enlightened” from having read the koran are seldom aware of, and they are the events of mohammeds life and the ascendency of the muslims. It is there you find the strongest proof that muhammed was a madman.
      Further, in what I believe to be a calculated effort to keep their goals ambiguous to any potential invadees, the koran is not in chronological order. Only a devout, hard liner muslim would know by heart the exact order the surrah would be placed if they were in chronological order. If you place them in order, (which then coincides with his rejection in mecca, his rise in medina, and his return to mecca to exact vengeance, as well as his assembly of warlords to become his generals, the fighting with various pagan tribes and assimilating them etc) you can literally watch the peace and love stuff fall away by degrees. IN a chronological translation of the koran, pretty much the last surrah would be the most famously quoted ones concerning killing the infidels wherever you may find them ( I believe 9:5, the surrah of the sword, but my koran is kind of rusty. Much like mein kampf, its not a book I really ever wanted to know by heart, or even read at all).
      I have had the priviledge of engaging in a long conversation with a Christian Iraqi soldier (one of the best eduacted and well spoken Iraqis I ever met) and got a little first hand accounting to back up the things I had learned and studied concerning islam. He would not elaborate a great deal on specifics, but suffice it to say that we can only imagine what beinga christian in a muslim country is like. And this was not a terribly devout muslim country, mind you. I can only imagine what Iran or Egypt would be like.
  12. wardmama4 says:
    DId you notice how opposite the Bible and the Qu’ran are?
    The Old Testament is about God conversing with and striking down people directly, violence, bad behavior by most of the people, and of course the people being kept away from ‘God’ by the holy people. Then in the New Testament – Jesus comes and fulfills the entire ideal of God – with love, peace, being a better person and of course changing the ‘church’ so that the people can ‘go’ directly to God.
    And the Qu-ran started out peaceful (had to get those people into the mosque) and then (probably when Caesar wanted his pound of gold or was considering banning the cult out in the sticks) became violent and intolerant and of course keeping most people away from what the Qu’ran actually says and certainly away from God.
    I loved Condell on the Mosque – very well said.
    • jobeth says:
      Wardmama…In the link given by TS above it claims that at first muhammad began peacefully…and only attracted about 150 people in 13 years…until…he got ruthless and forced people to become muslim or die. In 10 years he spread islam to millions. (To me that just shows that satan rewards his minions on this earth)
      And, as you said…The Bible shows that Jesus brought peace, love and respect, not only between men but also He treated woman as respected people to be given the same love and respect we are to give men.
      The koran on the other hand, because a peaceful method didn’t work…muhammad became an unholy terror to push his religion. That had to make satan smile.
      Your keen observation of how opposite the Bible and the koran are seems to me to be a huge indicator that the koran really does spew forth “satanic verses” as one author said.
      So to me its not a far extrapolation that muhammad is satan’s version of Jesus. He espouses the direct opposite of what Christ preached.
      Nice to know I’m not the only one that sees that direct connection of opposites and its implications.
    • hushpuppy says:
      wardmama, actually the God of the NT is the same God as the OT. (John 1:1) “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” cf Gen 1:1. God says He is the same yesterday, today and forever and that He changes not. (Hebrews 13:8 & Malachi 3:6)
      I am an unabashed Christian, and have studied the Scriptures for over 30 years. The NT and OT do not contradict each other. The NT Church used the ‘OT’ Scriptures to teach from.
      When God led the Israelites out of bondage and captivity in Egypt, and on though to the Promised Land, He assembled the people and re-gave them the 10 Commandments first. The fourth Commandment said to ‘Remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy…
      What was happening here was that God explained the Commandments, outlined the Blessings that come with obeying Him, and outlining the curses that would come with disobedience. You can find them listed in Dueteronomy and Leviticus. This was no different than a parent telling their children the kind of behavior expected of them and if the kids disobey their parents, they get a spanking.
      The blessings we saw as a nation are slowly being withheld because of disobedience to God, and among other things for disfellowshipping God in the name of expedience, votes and pandering to false religions.
      Jesus was our Passover Lamb who came to show us His Father, to take upon Himself our sins – but this does not mean that it’s ‘all been done for us’ and that we don’t have to do anything ourselves.
      Christ said ‘if you love me, keep my commandments’ (John 14:15) and ‘For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.’ (1 John 5:3.)
      Christ set for us an example. If we call ourselves Christians, we walk in His footsteps. Christianity isn’t a passive calling…
      The koran never was ‘peaceful’…. and Caesar never wanted ‘his pound of gold’. Perhaps you’re confusing the money aspect with Judas who was given 30 pieces of silver for betraying Jesus?
    • wardmama4 says:
      I never said God changed – Jesus himself said – Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. Matthew 5:17, I was simply comparing to a very simple degree the two Testaments of the Bible. Theology wasn’t my goal.
      And I thought that with the comment about banning the cult in the sticks – everyone would see I was joking about what ‘turned’ islam (as I have a real limited knowledge of islam) from a peaceful to a violent religion.
      And I agree – never said that the OT & NT contradicted each other – I believe that the NT fulfills the OT – and yes in a good Bible study one can learn how they agree and support each other and make a complete and whole story of a persons journey to God.
      I agree about our blessings (in America, right now) but it becomes a question of which came first – the churches (i.e. religion) moving away from God and Biblical teachings or the people moving/falling away? And how much can also be attributed to liberal/leftist politicians/judges who have made laws and decisions that are completely against God?
      I truly believe there are a good number of people who vote for the slime we have in politics because it makes them feel superior – better than the political class – even though it ends up dragging all of our society lower and lower. It is a shame – and it is because way too many people in America do not have God in their lives and soul – that they have to make themselves feel better at the expense of their fellow man/woman.
      How socially just, how fair is that? It is an abomination to both the Biblical and secular ideals – and most people and liberals are too ignorant to see it.
  13. wardmama4 says:
    I do not know if you caught Glenn Beck last night but it was an interesting bit of information on this issue – how inter-connected these people are with very, very – gee the only way I can say it is – terrorist and radicalized – aspects of islam. Not to mention (very sadly for America) the Administration.
    This whole situation should be considered by Americans as a declaration of War, much like 9/11 (once, in the very beginning) was.
    This is not a religion (it is a political ideology) and just because it is ‘viewed’ as a religion and people ‘call’ it a religion, it should not have the same considerations – Cults in America are taken into court routinely – and most Americans view them as insults to God, religion and church.
    If the imam/people involved in this were honest about where the funding was coming from (and oh btw, how many ‘religions’ in America seek the majority of their funding – overseas?!? Just asking), if the imam had or would condemn the 9/11 highjackers as radical islamic terrorists who were not representative of the ‘religion,’ and if this imam did not have ties to the free gaza flotilla – then maybe Americans could consider this indeed as a outreach and simply a religion wanting to build in the area. But those are huge stumbling blocks.
    And now that the Obama Administration is using our tax dollars to send this man on a ‘cultural’ outreach to countries that have nothing in common with the US other than we are all humans and daily declare their desire to overtake the World, wipe Israel from the face of the earth and at the very least disdain how decadent the West (i.e. US) and how all the problems (like billions for decades flowing in as all the infidel West buys the very oil, the local people probably never would have gotten it without our technology, help and of course original idea of it’s usefulness – not to mention Blue Bunny Ice Cream) of the Middle East are due to the Wests ‘imperialism.’
    OMG, they are like liberals (probably why the liberals love and defend them so much) – they project their very ideas and actions on those they seek to destroy.
    I don not want to destroy anyone, even stupid pedophile, women enslaving cultists (of all races, ‘religions’ and countries) , I do not even hate liberals – Just leave America alone – We have Freedom, Liberty, and Individual Rights. And that is just perfect for me.
    Take your World domination, fundamental change, socialism, communism, and hypocrisy somewhere else – You all hate America (liberals, et al) because it is 234 years of proof that in a free, small government environment – anyone from anywhere can be anything and succeed – and to keep your hateful, dangerous, evil, vile and controlling beliefs alive and functioning anywhere – You must destroy America.
    BTW, if you think that even for a second an American who does not declare him/herself to islam, will ever see the inside (other than the PR grand opening to be covered by every acceptable media outlet with The Won giving his ‘conciliatory’ speech first on al Jazeera) of this ‘cultural center’ (i.e. mosque) – don’t bet on it unless they are beheading you for the ‘faith’.
    As I said, I don’t hate you, personally, but if you attempt to destroy America – I will fight back. Even to the empty suit who calls himself our President. Born in America – Come on Obama – PROVE IT. Make me look stupid, distrustful, disrespectful and a conspiracy theorist – I dare You!
    God Help America. And NYC.
      I would venture to say that America’s version of imperialism has helped the quality of life in the world much more than say, banning DDT and subjecting millions of children to maria and other insect borne diseases. Just sayin’.
