Muslims Want ‘Our Lord’ Off Of Diplomas

From a non-judgmental San Antonio Express-News:

Students want ‘Our Lord’ phrase off diplomas

By Melissa Ludwig – Express-News

A group of students at Trinity University is lobbying trustees to drop a reference to “Our Lord” on their diplomas, arguing it does not respect the diversity of religions on campus.

“A diploma is a very personal item, and people want to proudly display it in their offices and homes,” said Sidra Qureshi, president of Trinity Diversity Connection. “By having the phrase ‘In the Year of Our Lord,’ it is directly referencing Jesus Christ, and not everyone believes in Jesus Christ.”

Qureshi, who is Muslim, has led the charge to tweak the wording, winning support from student government and a campus commencement committee. Trustees are expected to consider the students’ request at a May board meeting.

Other students and President Dennis Ahlburg have defended the wording, arguing that references to the school’s Presbyterian roots are appropriate and unobtrusive.

Founded by Presbyterians in 1869, Trinity has been governed by an independent board of trustees since 1969 but maintains a “covenant relationship” with the church…

The debate started last year when Isaac Medina, a Muslim convert from Guadalajara, Mexico, noticed the wording while looking at pre-made diploma frames in the Trinity bookstore. When Medina applied to Trinity, university staff told him it wasn’t a religious institution and that it maintained only a historical bond to the Presbyterian Church.

So the godly reference “came as a big surprise,” said Medina, who graduated in December. “I felt I was a victim of a bait and switch.” …

In January, the student government and the Muslim Student Association co-sponsored a forum to debate the issue. And in February, the Association of Student Representatives and the university’s commencement and convocation committee both voted to support the change, Qureshi said…

What about the name ‘Trinity’? Or is that the second shoe?

Oh well, this just some more of that famous Muslim tolerance.

Though aren’t we always told they venerate Jesus, too?

We have made all of the accommodations we should ever make for these people save one: help them leave.

OK, then when DO they graduate. In the year 2011? Or 2014? Makes no difference inasmuch as the calendar we use is based on the number of years since the birth of Christ. Anno Domini is Latin for “the year of Our Lord. So I guess we need to revamp our calendars too. I know, why doesn’t the whole world just kiss every muslim’s ass and get it over with–because they won’t rest until we do.

Or, as Enthalpy says, assist them to the border and assure they never return. These vermin don’t deserve to live here, much less dictate the terms of their acceptance. I question whether most of them even deserve to live–here or anywhere else.

Also on the board’s agenda is the proposal to make Trinity a divinity school that is for attaining higher degrees in the world of Christianity only.

At least, I would hope so.

This is, once again, coming to a house as a guest and putting your feet on the furniture.

Or, they can simply print them up a diploma that says, “By allah’s intervention, this student managed to graduate from here, against all hatred and discrimination from Christianity”.

Or, since the calendar we use is based on the “Year of Our Lord”…..ask them what year they want to have put on there.

I think a separate diploma is a great idea. Then, when potential employers see it, they will constantly have to go through the rigmarole of getting it checked for authenticity. Which any employer should do anyway…. Especially when hiring…..”those people”.

“This is, once again, coming to a house as a guest and putting your feet on the furniture. ”

More like a guest coming to visit and then taking over your house…telling you what it should look like and what you can say and and do.

If they wanted a non Christian education, why are they in a Christian University?

Why don’t they go to a muslim university….I’m sure there must be a few out there. Somewhere…out …there. Maybe.

Next they will become offended by the cross or crucifix and want to hang a black cloth over it. Oh, wait…Obalmy has already done that.

    • JohnMG says:

      …..”Why don’t they go to a muslim university….”

Because there isn’t any such thing as a muslim institution of higher learning—-if there was it’d be one step below kindergarten. Soooo…

I’ve got a better idea. Why don’t they all go straight to hell.

Demanding a church affilated school drop religious references is stupid, if you don’t want to have a link to it, don’t go to the school. I find it shocking taht it took 4 years or so for the muslims to notice that it is a christian school. If they want a completely sanitized diploma of anything unPC, go to the california state system. I wonder what the response would be if the muslims tried this at say birgham young or a jesuit run college.

    • jobeth says:

“. I wonder what the response would be if the muslims tried this at say birgham young or a jesuit run college.

…or if a Christian would demand the word Alla be removed from a muslim school.

      Yeah…that would be accommodated…Not!

Rally at Apollo supports Muslim students in St. Cloud schools

By Dave Aeikens March 29, 2010

More than two dozen Muslims and their supporters rallied for peace Monday across from Apollo High School to show support for students who attend the St. Cloud schools.

The rally was on public property on the west side of 44th Avenue North across from Apollo. It went from about 8:30 a.m. and ended before 1 p.m., said Mohamoud Mohamad, executive director of the St. Cloud Area Somali Salvation Organization and the organizer of the rally.

The rally ended about two hours before it was scheduled to end. Mohamed said that was because people had been there a long time, there were no easily accessible bathrooms and the wind made it chilly

Those at the rally say the school staff is not doing enough to keep Muslim students from being harassed and in some cases is contributing to it. The rally comes less than a week after a Minnesota Muslim civil rights group announced it asked the U.S. Department of Education to investigate a series of allegations that could create a hostile learning environment for Somali and Muslim students at Apollo and Technical high schools

Works for me. Let them go study at a comparable mohammedan university where it says something mohammedan instead.

What’s that? There are no comparable mohammedan universities?

How about that. What a strange coincidence. Wonder if it has something to do with … nah! Couldn’t be.

Maybe they ought to say something appropriate like … thank you.

    Screw the ungrateful bastards.

Stop mohammedan immigration and guest student programs today!

  6. caligirl9 says:

A fine example of taking political correctness to an extreme.

WHY in God’s name would a person attend a university that is affiliated with any sort of church/religion and then decide that the term “our Lord” is objectionable? I mean it’s kind of right out front there, ya know. No hidden church or chapel on campus …

This nation is going to hell in a handbasket …

    • jobeth says:

      hiya Caligirl

Haven’t seen you post for a while. Hope all is well for you.

This stuff with the muslims never end…and can’t see it ending anytime soon.

not because he was a fan of the football team!

But to be clear….this is a deliberate strategy. It’s another form of terrorism.

Why we allow it is beyond me.

America used to be about the immigrants adapting and assimilating to American culture – so the real questions become:
    1) are these Americans of middle east decent? Then indeed they need to start assimilating and get with the program (btw – who reads other than their name, degree and date their diploma from college?!? or even cares!)
    2) are these student visa foreigners. Then indeed – they need to shut up and not even get the diploma – as they aren’t entitled to TELL Americans what to do in their own country.

It is intentional – I do believe, aided and abetted by the Left who want no mention of God, Christ and religion in America (which tee, hee, hee – is the only things (minus the Christ) that the muslims want in mentioned when they take over).

I’ve always said – that they eat their own. But for the moment – the annoyed muslims need to pack up and go home – THIS IS AMERICA – You change before We ever will!

I went to Trinity and this is a crying shame. This guy must be the only mohammadan on the entire campus. There is a Presbyterian chapel on campus although it has services for many (Chrisitan) denominations. There is a Presbyterian church on the practically on the campus. It’s right next to several dorms, you can’t miss it (lots of students actually park in their parking lot, until they get towed). If you live in the upper classmen’s dorms, you pass within 20 feet from it in order to get to class. There is no pretense that the school is not religiously affiliated. This guy is just an ass who seeks to impune one of the finest schools in the nation, (I have to brag on Trinity a bit, ranked #8 in the country for academics).

I have some faith though, that Trinity will do the right thing and tell this mohammadan to pound salt. It’s a mostly white, Christian, private school and it values its traditions. I think the chances of them cow-towing to this tool are slim, but I could be wrong.

To say that he was surprised by the “Godly reference” is nonsense. I can tell you firsthand that all admissions staff openly state that Trinity is a Christian school with a relationship to the Presbyterian Church but is not geverned by the Presbyterian Church. They all use the exact same canned response for that question. For him to say that it wasn’t acknowledged is a lie, an out and out LIE.

Beyond that, his dispute revolves around the use of “the year of Our Lord” in the diploma. I wonder if he is aware of the usage of A.D. (anno domini), which is the basis of the year numbering system used by the overwhelming majority of the world (Chi-coms excluded).

  9. NoNeoCommies says:

Let them study at one of the (too many) muslim schools that are getting our tax money.
Once they are there, tell them they can’t talk about Allah because their school is getting tax money.

Is muslim president of Trinity, Sidra Qureshi going to change the name of her club when it honors the Trinity? The Blessed Trinity – God, Jesus, & the Holy Spirit. Three in One – The Father, Son, & Holy Ghost.

Doesn’t Sidra get the true “Connection” of the Trinity?

“…said Sidra Qureshi, president of Trinity Diversity Connection…”

Medina… a Muslim convert from Guadalajara, Mexico,
    .. “I felt I was a victim of a bait and switch.” …

Did these minorities get a free education?

    “…the Muslim Student Association…” !!!!

If “Lord” has to go, so should every “muslim” as it is a word that reminds of terrorists and their holy war.

  11. JaneLovesJesus says:

    um ….T R I N I T Y University?

And that wasn’t enough to be your first clue?

The more you try to accomodate this bunk, the worse it get. Can you imagine how obnixious it will be when muslims work their way up to, what 1% of the population?

Stop accomodating; it only invites more.

  12. hushpuppy says:

They can substitute ‘In the Year of our Lord’ for any or all of the following –
In the Year of the Weed Whacker, Puddle Jumper, Sword Swallower or Camel Humper for all I care!

Looking at this from the perspective of the Golden Rule: I sure as hell would be trying to get the word allah or mohammed off any diploma I had just earned!

The problem is that Judeo-Christians countries have opened the door to immigration and promoted multiculturalism to a point beyond mere idolatry, they’ll take the proverbial mile because we offered them the damn inch to begin with. I can see where some will go along with the requested change.

I saw the following quote on a Christian blog I ran into a few weeks ago and it really summed up the writer’s frustration:

“Homosexuality and Islam are legal here. Christianity should be too.”

Keep in mind they don’t care about ‘trinity’ or ‘Jew’ or ‘Christian’ because they are concepts worthy of hate. So if some camel humper went to Trinity U or Omar’s School of Tent-making makes no difference, they’re there for an education and to hell with what anyone else thinks.

    To hell with them too.

  13. jrmcdonald says:

For these muslims, how about ‘devil helper’ in it’s place. Too honest?
