N Korea Shells S Korean Island, Killing 2

From an outraged (at the South Koreans) Associated Press:

NKorea fires artillery onto SKorean island; 2 dead

SEOUL, South Korea – North Korea bombarded a South Korean island near their disputed western border Tuesday, setting buildings ablaze and killing at least two marines after warning the South to halt military drills in the area, South Korean officials said.

South Korea said it returned fire and scrambled fighter jets in response, and said the "inhumane" attack on civilian areas violated the 1953 armistice halting the Korean War. The two sides technically remain at war because a peace treaty was never negotiated.

The AP neglects to mention that North Korea officially disavowed the 1953 armistice, back in May 2009. Perhaps they are unaware of that detail.

Hours after the skirmish, North Korea’s supreme military command threatened to continue strikes against its rival if it violated their disputed sea border "even 0.001 millimeter," according to the North’s official Korean Central News Agency

The North’s artillery struck the small South Korean-held island of Yeonpyeong, which houses military installations and a small civilian population and which has been the focus of two previous deadly battles between the Koreas.

Two South Korean marines were killed and 16 injured, the Joint Chiefs of Staff said. Island residents escaped to about 20 shelters in the island and sporadic shelling ended after about an hour, according to the military.

The firing came during South Korean military drills in the area. North Korea’s military had sent a message to South Korea’s armed forces early Tuesday to demand that the drills stop, but the South continued them, the JCS said.

Naturally, the AP would imply that the South Koreans to blame.

FOX suggested China was indirectly aiding N. Korea. The BBC ran a better article showing N.Korea clearly the aggressors, and that China did not follow the rest in condemning N. Korea, and just said boths should stop the bickering.
Obama has always made it clear that we should have gone after N. Korea rather than the Middle-East, and this probably has the nepo duo nuts trigger happy. Obama is so jealous that that Korea has the ante on him, in running a communist country. Next stop for our soldiers.

Yeah, stop the bickering. China had a sh*t-fit after Japan held a lowly fisherman captive after he rammed one of their coast guard boats!

Let’s see what China does if we just pick off a few of their civilians with our artillery.

We have some excellent firefinder radar systems and counter battery fire controls.
Just return the fire within a minute or two and tell the No Kos that the next round will land on the Pot Bellied Pig of Pyongyang.

It’s obvious his son is making his father happy, or more ambitious. Taking the top out is the best way.
Assistants around them who will be next to step up. Ding Dong the Warlocks dead.

Now we see how stupid President Bush was for labeling Iran and North Korea as part of an axis of evil. Just because they are aggressors bent on acquiring (or have already) nuclear weapons and openly attacking civilized countries. He sure didn’t have a clue what he was talking about.

  4. Mithrandir says:

Throwing the first punch seems to be the best policy. Before anyone can retaliate, the world jumps in and calls for calm.

Only the aggressor can attack, make excuses, and get away with it. At some point there has to be retaliation for this attack, and the sinking of the Cheonan which killed 46 sailors.

Would America tolerate this attack against them?

  5. AcornsRNutz says:

One series of strategic bombing runs could end this whole mess. America is about to be forced into the largest global conflict in human history folks, the point of no return has probably been passed.

    • Mithrandir says:

Right. North Korea is so pathetic, I am wondering if a raid of stealth bombers/fighters knocking out communications, and immediate retaliatory weapons would do the trick?

This pathetic country is allowed to abuse its people, and abuse its neighbors without fear of retaliation. I hope this embarrassing charade ends soon.

Clearly, this is something that wee barry didn’t count on. Or…maybe he did but for obscure reasons. I think it’s that he is now in utter confusion since he has already apologized to the norks and to China as well. Thus, in his own mind, they should love him. But, in his completely isolated chicago-style way of thinking, he doesn’t know how Asians think. Least of all the communist Asians. Barry naturally assigns his “logic” to them and has little to no dealing with a culture that “thinks diagonally” and therefore cannot anticipate their reactions. His own version of “culture” is based on a poor logic base that everyone likes to be the victim. He probably also assumes that China fears the US as some sort of “superpower” where the truth actually lies in the fact that China looks down its nose at the West and always has. Just as Westerners are “infidels” to the muslims, so it is with the Chinese when it comes to the U.S. They are an extremely proud people who know that their nation has existed for centuries well-beyond the infantile United States. Facts do not play well into the mix when it comes to their own self-superiority. Think of it as the “ugly American” but with the Chinese playing the part of the arrogant ones. Thus, you see what happens when a superior type of arrogance (that of the Chinese) meets up with the inferior version(obama). But I dare say it, they have more of a right to be arrogant when compared to the lightweight half-president.

Then, there is the possible aspect where barry actually fears China. If he doesn’t, then he’s stupider than I thought. Or, just ignorant of how China has dealt with enemies over the centuries. But possibly a little of both, as usual. Then there’s the obvious take where barry doesn’t intend to do anything to retaliate against the norks because he has outwardly said he “hopes China takes a more active role”. Tell me how that cop-out will work for the US again? China and Russia just canned the dollar for all unilateral trades, if that tells you anything, barry me boy.

In this case, it occurs to me that barry wants to play the role of “capo” to China’s “godfather”. Going along to get along as it were. But like all things that have come to pass in the past two years, obama will do the exact wrong thing every time.
