Ray Nagin Endorses The Chocolate Candidate

From the New Orleans Times-Picayune:

Nagin endorses Obama for president

by Bruce Alpert, The Times-Picayune
Tuesday May 13, 2008

WASHINGTON - New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin endorsed Barack Obama for president today, giving the Illinois Democrat another superdelegate in his battle for the Democratic nomination.

“Since the immediate days following the storm, I have been traveling to our nation’s capitol to advocate for policies that aid our rebuilding effort,” Nagin said in a statement released by the Obama campaign. “I know first hand, we desperately need the leadership of someone committed to changing the system in Washington that can hold us back from moving forward.”

Obama said he shares Nagin’s commitment to “renewing the great city of New Orleans.” He also called the restoration of the city “one of the great national challenges of our time.”

“I look forward to working with him and all New Orleanians to prepare for the storms that may come while advancing opportunity and prosperity for the people of the great American city,” Obama said.

The Obama campaign said Nagin is the 283rd superdelegate to endorse the candidate, putting him ahead of Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., in support among the elected officials and other Democrats who aren’t tied to supporting the winners of their state’s primaries.

Nagin spoke by phone with Obama and Clinton last week and discussed the recovery issues that drove his decision, including upgrading the nation’s emergency response systems and removing “roadblocks” that hinder communities’ ability to regain their footing after a disaster, Nagin spokeswoman Ceeon Quiett said Tuesday morning.

“At the end of the day, the mayor was most conformable with Sen. Obama,” she said.

Quiett added that there was nothing strategic about the timing of Nagin’s decision. Scores of uncommitted superdelegates have said they will wait to choose sides until the end of the primaries and caucuses, or even until the nominating convention in late August.

“(Nagin) was going to make his decision when the felt like his all his issues had been addressed,” she said…

Until now, only three of the state’s 11 superdelegates had announced their allegiances, with former New Orleans City Councilwoman Renee Gill Pratt and Democratic National Committeewoman Patsy Arceneaux in the Clinton camp and former state party Chairman Ben Jeffers siding with Obama.

The remaining superdelegates, most of them elected officials, are publicly neutral, joining more than 250 leading party figures around the country who ultimately will decide which candidate faces presumptive Republican nominee John McCain.

Of course Mr. Obama is merely milk chocolate. But any port in a storm.

And of course Mr. Nagin would be a superdelegate. The DNC want only the best and brightest to select their candidate.

Obama said he shares Nagin’s commitment to “renewing the great city of New Orleans.” He also called the restoration of the city “one of the great national challenges of our time.”

Just remember, a vote for Obama is a vote for sending even more billions to those poor victims in New Orleans.

A city built below sea level and surrounded on all sides by water.

Still:

Yes they can!

the trouble with building below sea level :-)

Well, it is supposed to look like a Toilette, but alas, my HTML skills are lacking

You have got to love the democrat’s primary system! In liberal mentality it takes 50-200 sheep votes to equal the far superior power of a Nagin vote. I wonder if any democratic voters take the time to realize the symbolic importance that their primary process is: 1. Not democratic and 2. Highly complicated due too much bureaucracy.

I looked at that picture and suddenly remembered:

And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him.

    Revelation 6:8

That is Nagin in the Picture, right? Because if thats someone else, I retract this comment.

Hopefully, Bobby Jindal will set the idiot Nagan straight. Sooner or later they’re gonna catch this guy with his hand in the cookie jar.

So if that is Nagin, did he serve in the Military? Did he earn all those medals he is displaying? I know for a fact it is a Federal crime to wear military medals unless you were actually awarded said medals…anyone remember that stink a while back? Chief of Naval Operations committed suicide because the dems accused him of wearing a medal that he was not awarded (authorized) to wear….and after he committed suicide, it came out that he actually was in fact authorized?

Some may argue that this does not apply to ordinary citizens, but wait, not so fast…there was a recent case of a man being arrested and charged with federal crimes because he dressed up in a Military Uniform and attended the funerals of deceased soldiers coming home from Iraq.

  7. Noyzmakr

Admiral Boorda. The dems still haven’t been held accountable for that.

Nagin never served according to wikipedeia..

That would be, “they’re gonna catch this guy with his hand in the ‘chocolate chip’ cookie jar.” Obama is a true Oreo. (The usual disclaimer, no commercial connection to the Oreo cookie, its mfrs. or retailers.)

We can’t seem to handle nuclear waste to fight oil dependence but we can spend billions to live below sea level without a diving helmet.

    Nice toilet. Makes the point.

Federal laws concerning the wear of the United States Military uniforms by people not on active duty are published in the United States Code (USC).

Specifically, 10 USC, Subtitle A, Part II, Chapter 45, Sections 771 and 772.

    Section 771 states:

Except as otherwise provided by law, no person except a member of the Army, Navy, Air Force, or Marine Corps, as the case may be, may wear -

    (1) the uniform, or a distinctive part of the uniform, of the Army, Navy, Air Force, or Marine Corps; or

    (2) a uniform any part of which is similar to a distinctive part of the uniform of the Army, Navy, Air Force, or Marine Corps

    Section 772 lists some exceptions:

    (a) A member of the Army National Guard or the Air National Guard may wear the uniform prescribed for the Army National Guard or the Air National Guard, as the case may be.

    (b) A member of the Naval Militia may wear the uniform prescribed for the Naval Militia.

    (c) A retired officer of the Army, Navy, Air Force, or Marine Corps may bear the title and wear the uniform of his retired grade.

    (d) A person who is discharged honorably or under honorable conditions from the Army, Navy, Air Force, or Marine Corps may wear his uniform while going from the place of discharge to his home, within three months after his discharge.

    (e) A person not on active duty who served honorably in time of war in the Army, Navy, Air Force, or Marine Corps may bear the title, and, when authorized by regulations prescribed by the President, wear the uniform, of the highest grade held by him during that war.

    (f) While portraying a member of the Army, Navy, Air Force, or Marine Corps, an actor in a theatrical or motion-picture production may wear the uniform of that armed force if the portrayal does not tend to discredit that armed force.

    (g) An officer or resident of a veterans’ home administered by the Department of Veterans Affairs may wear such uniform as the Secretary of the military department concerned may prescribe.

    (h) While attending a course of military instruction conducted by the Army, Navy, Air Force, or Marine Corps, a civilian may wear the uniform prescribed by that armed force if the wear of such uniform is specifically authorized under regulations prescribed by the Secretary of the military department concerned.

    (i) Under such regulations as the Secretary of the Air Force may prescribe, a citizen of a foreign country who graduates from an Air Force school may wear the appropriate aviation badges of the Air Force.

    (j) A person in any of the following categories may wear the uniform prescribed for that category:

    (1) Members of the Boy Scouts of America.

    (2) Members of any other organization designated by the Secretary of a military department

Ray Nagin–stupidity personified. I move we take up a collection to have his lips surgically removed from Ore-obama’s semi-sweet, milk-chocolate ass. You wanna see black-on-white racism with the Presidential seal of approval, vote Ore-obama in 08, and start counting the mayors of the urban shit-holes in the US (New Orleans, Detroit, Philadephia, DC, you know the ones) lining up with their collective hands out.

  11. 1republicanscientist

I haven’t used this for a long time, but it fits this jackass so well: he’s a tool. I would like to take the unauthorized uniform off of him and shove it up his stupid ass. Sorry, he’s an idiot and he makes me very mad.

  12. greybeard

It is not surprising this endosement.
Anyone recall those Nation of Islam bodygaurds of Nagins standing behind him after he sat on a roof waitin for someone to come save his non functioning 2nd grade administration?

  13. JohnMG

…..”It is not surprising this endosement……”

This would be like Sgt. Schultz endorsing Colonel Klink for “das Fuhrer.” Predictable.

  14. Gila Monster

This really is hilarious. Nagin is through in NOLA, in simple terms, he can’t run again for mayor because he’s termed out and Jindal has his number. He will never survive in LA politics as long as Jindal is Governor. Naturally, he will beg for another do nothing job, hence, he backs Obama hoping for another worthless position where he can slide along by doing absolutely zilch. Some things just never change.

Nagin will end up with a cabinet position simply because of his proclivity as a race baiting poverty pimp. The Obamessiah will grant his wish and Nagin will continue feeding off the public trough. Truly sad IMHO.

  15. Lurkin_no_mo

Yep, this one ticked me off. Great way to start a Wednesday.
Not only is the chocolate mayor wearing a uniform, with decorations that he certainly never earned, but he wears it in an unauthorized manner with the coat open showing the t-shirt.
If he wanted to look like Che Guevera, at least wear the old fatigues without any decorations. By the way, you’d never see a REAL soldier wearing ribbons on a DCU.
Maybe the DCU camouflage scheme reminded him of chocolate chips.

  16. sheehanjihad

relax you guys, geez~! Nagin is doing what he does best…..playing dress up to please his vanity. He essentially does the same thing being mayor, just window dressing with no substance whatsoever. Unless it comes to money. Then he is serious.

  17. U NO HOO

“he backs Obama hoping for another worthless position ”

    Head of FEMA?
