Nakoula ‘Interview’ A Dissuasive Measure?

From the Los Angeles Times:

Alleged ‘Innocence of Muslims’ filmmaker taken in for interview

September 15, 2012

Just after midnight Saturday morning, authorities descended on the Cerritos home of the man believed to be the filmmaker behind the anti-Muslim movie that has sparked protests and rioting in the Muslim world.

Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies escorted a man believed to be Nakoula Basseley Nakoula to an awaiting car. The man declined to answer questions on his way out and wore a hat and a scarf over his face. He kept his hands in the pockets of a winter coat.

Sheriff’s officials could not be reached by The Times, but department spokesman Steve Whitmore told KNBC News that deputies assisting the federal probation department took Nakoula to the sheriff’s substation in Cerritos for interviewing.

[Updated at 1:40 a.m. Sept 15, 2012: Whitmore told The Times that Nakoula was taken in for a voluntary interview with probation officials and has not been arrested or detained.]

Yes, it was all voluntary. And if he is lucky, they will place him in protective custody.

Authorities waited until most media had left for the day to take Nakoula in.

Uh huh. The ‘knock on the door’ during Stalin’s regime used to come in the middle of the night, too.

Earlier Friday, sheriff’s deputies had to escort attorneys through a scrum of news cameras into Nakoula’s home. When the man was taken away early Saturday, authorities had to dodge only a lone photographer for The Times and a few lingering reporters

On Friday, U.S. courts spokeswoman Karen Redmond said the Office of Probation in the Central District of California was reviewing whether Nakoula, who has been convicted on bank fraud charges, violated terms of his probation in relation to the video and its uploading onto the Internet.

He had been ordered not to own or use devices with access to the Internet without approval from his probation officer -– and any approved computers were to be used for work only. "Defendant shall not access a computer for any other purpose," the terms read.

Restrictions were also placed on him enlisting others to get on the Internet for him.

Here is a little more spin about this "meeting" from CNN:

Filmmaker linked to anti-Islam video meets with probation officer

By CNN Wire Staff | Sunday Sept 16, 2012

Los Angeles (CNN) — The California man believed to be the maker of an anti-Islam film that ignited a firestorm in the Muslim world was cooperative when authorities escorted him to a voluntary interview, officials said Saturday.

"It was all choreographed," said Steve Whitmore of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. "He was ready and willing and very cooperative."

Yes, it is amazing how cooperative one can be when the police come knocking in the middle of the night.

The overnight meeting with a probation officer came a day after federal officials said they were reviewing the probation of Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, who was convicted of bank fraud in 2010 and placed on supervised probation for five years

Whitmore told CNN that Nakoula left the local sheriff’s station after the federal officials were done interviewing him.

"He is gone and he is free," he said of Nakoula, who was bundled up in a coat, hat and white scarf as he was escorted from his house. Nakoula decided to cover himself, Whitmore told CNN affiliate KCAL/KCBS.

Whitmore earlier dismissed reports that Nakoula had been arrested, saying he was never in handcuffs or in custody.

You don’t need to be handcuffed to be arrested. And you don’t need to be arrested to have your free speech ‘chilled.’

Karen Redmond, a spokeswoman for the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, said Friday that Nakoula’s federal probation was under review. Redmond didn’t provide details of why or when the probation review was initiated, or how long the process would take.

While on probation, Nakoula can’t access computers or any device that can access the Internet without approval from his probation officer…

Because uploading to YouTube just like committing bank fraud. (By the way, California allows felons to vote, but only after they have served their full sentence and/or probation.)

The FBI contacted the filmmaker this week because of the potential for threats but he is not under investigation, a federal law enforcement official told CNN Thursday.

No, of course he isn’t. He is just being ‘dissuaded.’

Meanwhile, our media guardians have studiously ignored this tidbit from the Italian news agency, ANSA:

Anti-Islam Film: Prophet is untouchable red line, Morsi

Asks Obama to ”take dissuasive measures”

Monday, 13 September, 2012

(ANSAmed) – CAIRO – The Prophet ‘is a red line nobody can touch’, Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi was quoted as saying by Egypt’s Mena news agency comments on protests across Egypt and Libya and a film on the Prophet slammed as blasphemous. The Prophet ‘is a red line for all Muslims and we refuse any attack’, said the president. ”We will sacrifice with our soul and heart” Morsi also said, citing a Muslim profession of faith.

The Egyptian president, who had a phone conversation with US President Barack Obama before talks with European leaders and then a trip to Rome this afternoon, stressed his condemnation of ‘all attempts to attack the Profet and the sacred principles of Islam’. Meanwhile he also assured Egyptian security forces will do everything in their power to protect foreigners in the country.

Morsi asked also his US counterpart Barack Obama to ”take dissuasive measures against those trying to demolish relations with the US”.

The President of the Muslim Brotherhood says ‘jump,’ and our President says ‘how high?’ Still, isn’t it funny how little we have heard about this part of their conversation from our media guardians?

Morsi also expressed his condolences for the death of the US ambassador in Libya in statements to Egypt’s state television.

Talking about the ”dissuasive measures” requested, Morsi cited Father Terry Jones stressing that ”he is the same person who tried to burn the Koran and is now trying to offend the Prophet.”

And we all recall how the top members of the Obama administration leaned on Mr. Jones. Probably following instructions from someone in the Middle East.

”We don’t attack anyone and do not accept any aggression against our sacred principles” Morsi told state television after phone talks with Obama.

But the New York Times said Morsi was practically shaking in his sandals when Obama called him.

The city threatened Terry Jones with all sorts of fascist tactics like charging him for extra police service, and / or fire department dispatches, not having a permit etc. Aren’t we paying our government to protect our rights at NO EXTRA COST, as we are paying for it in the first place?
(I also don’t think presidents should pay for local police over-time either. Get off your duffs when duty calls!)

Don’t you like how, when police approve of the speaker, they guard the podium, and when they don’t like the speaker, they hustle him/her off to “protect them from the mob.”

Norris was advised by security specialists at the FBI to “go ghost,” as they term it. The translation: She is moving to an undisclosed location, changing her name, and wiping clean her identity.

–that’s what we are paying our government for. Exercise your rights, “go into hiding.”

What an (oxy)moron. They don’t attack anyone? How then do they ‘not accept any aggression’? Do they sit around and wring their hands like leftists do? Or, do they maim and murder?
Cripes. This guy could get a job with any MSM outlet.

It’s obvious these mopes can’t be dealt with. No matter what you say or do, they’re going to find something they object to. They remind me of pissy little girls who take offense at anybody not telling them pretty and brilliant they are. Face it, Muslims just can’t handle the truth. I guess that’s what happens when you’re stuck in the 7th century.

  6. AcornsRNutz says:

Hey, Morsi. Muhammed or mohammet or mohammed or whatever you call him was a pedophile. Read your quran or koran or q’rahn or whatever you call it. His religion was spawned in collusion with a bunch of free ranging vagabonds and caravan raiders thirsting for power over the regions. When he tried to spell out his goofy religion to the Jews, even catering his new “religion” to theirs, (halal and Kosher aren’t that dissimilar. The pilgrimage to mecca? Also kind of a Jewish thing) they laughed at this lazy eyed ranting goon like we would any street corner Jesus in NYC. So he gathered up his merry men in Medina, stole enough money to fund an army, and catagorically annihilated Jews any place he found them from that day hence. His religion was a laughing stock then and would be now if it weren’t so dangerous. Face it, islam, you’re guy was the johhny come lately, you were the last ones on the block, and since most people at the time were either Christians, Jews or content to remain pagan oddballs, your dude slaughtered and absorbed them. Despite popular belief, Christianity and Judiasm didn’t gain most of their worldwide recognition and following that way. Perhaps the Romans once they “saw the light” may have been spreading their breed of what is now Catholicism to the pagan vastlands, but that tradition is long gone. Christianity started out as a peaceful semi-rebellion against strict Jewish doctrines and the word of God through Jesus Christ. He certainly never personally led armies to slaughter Jews by the thousands, or Romans for that matter, and neither one of them were particularly kind to the guy. Just sayin. I am tired of biting my tongue on the islam thing. Islam is what it is, and these so called modernized, moderate muslims need to figure themselves out quick. Either change your religion from within or pick a new one, because if you take the violence, fascism, oppression intolerance out of islam you haven’t got anything left.
