NASA Sold Computers Containing Secrets

From a bemused BBC News:

Nasa sells shuttle PCs without wiping secret data

December 8, 2010

US space agency Nasa has been left red-faced after selling off computers without ensuring that highly sensitive data had been removed.

An internal investigation found 10 cases where PCs were sold despite failing data removal procedures.

Another four PCs – which were about to be sold – were found to contain data restricted under arm control rules.

The computers were being sold off as Nasa winds down its space shuttle operations. The last shuttle flight is scheduled for June 2011.

But the space agency’s internal auditors discovered that its policies for wiping data from PCs used in the Shuttle program have not always been followed.

They uncovered issues at four locations: the Kennedy and Johnson Space Centers, and the Ames and Langley Research Centers.

It almost seems as if the Obama administration doesn’t want to keep any secrets. Maybe this is all part of their promise to be the most transparent administration in history.

In some cases, tests were not being run to confirm the computers had been wiped. Investigators also found that some PCs that had failed those verification tests were still being put up for sale.

Their report in to the incidents says its impossible to know what data was left on the sold-off equipment, but analysis of similar equipment "raises serious concerns" for Nasa.

Investigators found four PCs being prepared for sale at the Kennedy Space Center which contained data subject to export control by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations.

They also found dozens of PCs at the Kennedy equipment disposal facility that all had external markings listing network details.

Such details could potentially provide hackers with "unauthorised access to Nasa’s internal computer network".

Well, to paraphrase Robert Gibbs, it’s not like we have to worry about some hacker with a laptop and a $35 website.

Nasa will now review and update its equipment disposals procedures.

Naturally. Now that the damage is done.

How’s the muslim outreach program workin for ya?

Consider the possibility that the flood of news purporting to “expose corruption and incompetence” in government actually serves the purposes of anarchists, collectivists, and crypto-communists. George Soros has made billions by using these tactics in the past to collapse the monetary systems of countries he’s targeted.

Saul Alinsky’s book ‘Rules for Radicals’ (which is dedicated to Lucifer, “the first radical”) also spells out clearly methods like this which he designed to cause citizens to lose confidence in their country.

Assange’s leak has this as its stated goal, and Assange is an avowed anarchist.

Many of these stories – like the $100 bill crease – can be seen as planted and phony.

    Not surprising.
When I worked at Hewlett-Packard, they shipped a bunch of servers with important engineering data to Houston after acquiring Compaq (or was it being acquired by Compaq?).
Someone in Houston didn’t like the clutter, so they sent them to scrap, which means they are sent out to a subcontractor that salvages what they can.
At least the HP contractors are smart enough to erase the data (thoroughly) or destroy the drives.
Too bad we still needed that data.

It’s a wonder how we still are existing after 2 years of utter incompetence and outright treason on all levels of this gubbamint!!!!

I now know why Elvis shot Televisions. I saw this and it knocked the wind out of me.

I really want you to watch this whole thing (Please, please).

This is NASA Administrator Charles Bolden (appointed by Big O) speaking to members of the Israeli Space Agency (and the press).

There are two key things to remember when viewing this.

1: This is the man who made the statement that NASA wants to reach out to the Muslim world for astronauts.

2: The only Israeli to fly a space mission was Colonel Ilan Ramon, who died when STS 107 (Columbia) burned up during re-entry.

One last thing to prepare you for what is the worst video I have ever seen…Every two-bit drug dealer on the planet can convert pounds into kilos, but the head of NASA is unable to.

GetBackJack, Obama did speak of selling our NASA program to his new muslim partners.

member those high tech pictures of Iran’s Ahmadman’s new space center and his bragging.
He sent the first hamster into outer space.

We’re not even going to speculate on where Obammy sent his first Gerbil!

either way Obama ate it. He said he practiced Hindu animist along with Islam. He ate all sorts of creaters to get their powers; so he said in regards to describing snake & dog meat, etc.

I am sure all of our medical documents under Obamacare, will be safe and secure. Just like the 1/4 million “secret” files stolen with a mere flash drive.

And there is NO WAY our medical documents will be snooped upon for political gain, like a certain stack of F.B.I. files that were on the desk of a certain first lady nearly 16 years ago.

Don’t worry, the gov’t is in control! Your security, like the southern border, is more secure than ever!
