That is, who issues the orders for this joint American/Russian defense? And who do the superiors answer to? Call me narrow minded (I prefer to think of it as self-preservation) but I've always felt that you should never enter an agreement with someone whose past history has shown them to be antagonistic to your own beliefs. The Russians have never done away with their ambitions for expansionism nor ceased their violations of basic human rights.
