NC YMCA Bans Scouts Over ‘Discrimination’

From an irony proof (NC) News & Observer:

YMCA says Scouts must leave over non-discrimination policy

CHAPEL HILL — Boy Scout Troop 505 and other organizations that do not share the Chapel Hill-Carrboro YMCA’s non-discrimination policy may no longer use its facilities.

The YMCA board decided June 22 to extend its non-discrimination policy, which protects gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender employees and members, to organizations that meet at the Y’s facilities, executive director Jerry Whortan said.

"This decision was based on the Y’s responsibility to represent our organization’s values in all of our partnerships and relationships," Whortan said.

The Boy Scouts of America is a program that organizations, such as the YMCA and other faith-based organizations, use as a part of their youth outreach, said John Akerman, chief executive officer for the Occoneechee [sic] council.

And they don’t want any ‘outreach to youths’ to bar homosexuals. Still, you have to wonder what faith they are basing this on?

And speaking of faith, are Sharia adhering Muslims allowed to use this YMCA for their events? Aren’t Muslims even more ‘discriminating’ than Boy Scouts about homosexuality as well as a myriad of other subjects?

Although the Boy Scouts of America does not allow "openly or avowed homosexuals" to become leaders, it is not something that the organization asks about on its application, Akerman said.

To be fair, Muslims probably don’t ask about homosexuality either. They just drop a wall on you.

The YMCA’s new policy has taken effect, but Troop 505 has up to one year to find a new partner.

How kind of the YMCA.

In addition to extending its anti-discrimination policy, the Chapel Hill-Carrboro YMCA board is discussing how it can work together with the YMCA of the Triangle to serve the community, he said.

In a May board meeting the possibility of a management services agreement and a merger with the YMCA of the Triangle was discussed. A closer relationship with the larger YMCA could help the local Y expand and improve its facilities, according to a press release.

The local Y’s expansion plan includes doubling its revenue from $5 million to $10 million in the next five years

On June 14, the Carrboro Board of Aldermen passed a resolution opposing a merger unless the YMCA of the Triangle adopted broader anti-discrimination policies

In other words, this YMCA is on a pro-homosexual jihad.

Since the YMCA of the Triangle does not have anti-discrimination polices with regard to sexual orientation, the Board of Aldermen is concerned that a possible merger would require the Chapel Hill-Carrboro YMCA to drop or modify its policy, according to the resolution.

"[Chapel Hill-Carrboro] have gone beyond the state law and have ensured that sexual orientation receives the same protection that other personal characteristics – age, sex, race, ethnicity and religion – have," the local Y’s board said in a release.

"In our talks with Y of the Triangle, we have stressed to them how important it is to us that they too move past state and federal law and offer protections to the [lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender] community," the release continued.

So these homosexual militants are so determined to promote their agenda they are even willing to risk a merger that would increase their revenues for the cause.

It’s almost like homosexuality has become a religion for them. Which is probably a good thing, since they seem to have given up on Christianity.

Just replace “NO BLACKS ALLOWED” with a “NO BOY SCOUTS ALLOWED” sign and you can pat yourself on the back for being tolerant. In extending their non-discrimination policy, the YMCA is actually becoming more discriminatory. By practicing discrimination against anyone they perceive as discriminators, they are becoming the very thing they despise.

It’s reminds me of the woman sitting behind Glenn Beck who justified her hateful actions by labeling Glenn a “hater”. She claimed that she hated no one except people who hate. People like her are the worse kind of haters because they feel morally justified in their hatred. All they have to do is to attach the label “hater” onto anyone they disagree with. This not only allows them to spew hate on anyone they wish but it gives them a feeling of moral superiority in doing so. In their hypocrisy they dish out a level of hate they would never tolerate coming from anyone else. As Glenn once said, “society doesn’t become more tolerant, it just changes targets.”

And, when they do find a new partner, they will be in better shape than they were with the YMCA…and the YMCA will lose money and ultimately, regret the decision. Not outwardly, of course. But the Boy Scouts as an entity will be far happier and more successful than it already is. In other words, to the YMCA a big raspberry, who needs ’em?

Interesting predicament for the BSA. On one hand, they stand to be sued into oblivion for the ravages of homosexual Scoutmasters and other officers upon unsuspecting troop members. And on the other hand, they stand to be destroyed by the left, lawyers and leftists in local and state governments because they do not stand up and embrace the very people who demand they be included so that they might destroy the BSA. Nice gig, that.

Proper response? Keep the Followers of the Rainbow as far away from the BSA as humanly possible, for they ply their sexual abuse trade upon unsuspecting young boys in order to recruit the next generation of Followers of the Rainbow, none of which by the way has anything to do with Scouting, the Boy Scout Motto, Oath or Law. Cheers –

“Interesting predicament…” Excellent point, agimarc. You are required to keep a poisonous snake – uncaged – but if it bites anyone, you’re responsible.

The YMCA are now partnering with public schools, so your taxes are paying for YMCA now too. Aside their membership fees.

    • ripple says:

in my community the Y partners with the public schools but the programs are not subsidized by the school district, they are paid for though fees for service, yet no one is turned away because of the inability to pay. Assistance is made possible though donations to the Y because of its stong membership – which is also a fee for service – and also made available to those who can’t afford the membership fee…
