New Dealer Obama Blasts ‘Old Theories’

Another entry in the annals of Mr. Obama’s bi-partisanship, via the Politico:

Obama blasts ‘tired old theories’

In his weekly address, President Barack Obama hailed the Senate’s apparent Friday deal on the economic stimulus plan, saying that Republicans and Democrats "responded appropriately to the urgency this moment demands"—but continued to criticize Republicans for pushing what he called "tired old theories." …

Obama surrogates fanned out yesterday to spread the sharper message that president kicked off on Thursday with his campaign-style partisan speech before House Democrats hammering Republicans for pushing tax cuts in the stimulus bill…

"Let’s be clear: We can’t expect relief from the tired old theories that, in eight short years, doubled the national debt, threw our economy into a tailspin, and led us into this mess in the first place. We can’t rely on a losing formula that offers only tax cuts as the answer to all our problems while ignoring our fundamental economic challenges – the crushing cost of health care or the inadequate state of so many schools; our addiction to foreign oil or our crumbling roads, bridges, and levees," he said. "The American people know that our challenges are great. They don’t expect Democratic solutions or Republican solutions – they expect American solutions." ..

What is older or more tired than the theory that you can spend your way out of a recession?

The theory even predates its most famous proponent John Maynard Keynes. And Keynes was born in 1883 and began his financial career in England during WWI.

And of course variations on Keynesian economics were all the rage during the Great Depression, and are credited by many with prolonging it for seven years.

In contrast, tax cuts have gotten us out of recessions every time they have been tried. With Mr. Reagan and both Bush Presidencies.

No, Mr. Obama’s idea of hope and change is a return to the early twentieth century. He is pining for bread lines and the WPA.

And the socialism agenda those artificially prolonged hardships begat.

The Moron, having popped out of his dorm run in 2004, is a typical baby boomer. For him, and most boomers, history does not exist prior to one’s own life. So of course, he is unaware of the long trail of failures of the “new” theories he espouses. And his handlers don’t care.

This is the main reason he is The Moron. Throughout the media drool fest also known as his campaign, he continuously revealed a laughable ignorance of history, particularly since we have been assured so often that he is a unique genius.

In this way, like so many ways, he is the epitome of the narcissitic Boomer mentality.

I read an article awhile back that claimed TCO was “better” than a boomer, “better” than a Gen Xer, too.
He’s a hybrid of all that is good in the boomers and Gen X. (cough, not my thoughts, but the thoughts of the author of that kooky article).
I’ve also read that children born between 1961 and 1964 are “Kennedy Kids” and espouse the very best of Camelot.
I thought history decided that Camelot wasn’t all that …

This may have been the article, but from a different source than China Daily.

Pro, it’s not anything new. There will always be smug, arrogant fools who come bringing the “new” invention. When unveiled, all stand agog at—–the wheel.

So, the Bush tax cuts didn’t double IRS revenues while creating the biggest economic expansion?

    Wow! what was I thinkin?

I’m just glad Obama is smoker.

Abe Lincoln said once “There is another old poet whose name I do not now remember who said, ‘Truth is the daughter of Time.'”

Time is Tyrant Barry’s enemy, as with each passing day it is revealed more to us what a hollow leader we have in our President.

The more that comes out of Obama’s mouth the more I think he’s the most arrogant, ignorant, wind bag of a politician I’ve experienced. The only reason he’s surrounding himself with all these entrenched, crooked politicians and lobbyists is because he truly doesn’t have a clue what to do. I wonder how people who voted for him are thinking, “Holy crap! What was I thinking?” My answer, “You weren’t.”

  7. Confucius says:

Some more “tired old theories”– affirmative action, the IRS, Helen Thomas and Al Gore. Let’s get rid of these!

To be perfectly honest, I don’t watch or listen to Bo-Bo’s weakly addresses. There was a great line in “On Golden Pond” Where Dabney Coleman is being harangued by Henry Fonda and he says, “But I will say this….I know CRAP when I hear it.”.

I want to take a moment to thank my parents, my non-liberal teachers in school, my military leaders who taught me how to use my crap filters. Unfortunately, they get clogged pretty heavily and pretty quickly these days. Global warming “crisis”, economic “crisis”, ENERGY “crisis”…Housing “crisis”, Credit “crisis”. Say, let’s do a George Carlin…and replace the word “crisis” with the word “circus”. Interestingly, a distinction without a difference.

There is only one real crisis, (or circus if you prefer) and that’s Bo-Bo the clown and his three-ring-circus. In America, there may be a sucker born every minute but in the current society we have today, the suckers are the ones all running to the gunwales to flip the boat over.

Tired old theories, specifically the tired old socialist theories of the 1st half of the 20th Century, are these people’s stock in trade.

All these notions have been obviously disproved and discredited by a mountain of evidence and experience — not to mention damned by the horrors of socialist bloodletting and destruction that marked the 20th Century from end to end.

Not having the genuine naivetee and ignorance of earlier periods to trade on, the DC crowd falls back on lies to promote their campaign for total power.

The fact is that governments have been shown to do the same things over and over again, to produce the same results and respond in the same ways.

The governments meddle in matters of business, which they rarely understand, produce terrible results and hardships, and then blame the business people for the results of what they themselves have ordered the business people to do.

They then, normally, demand more power, as a solution.

This too we’ve been able to observe many times.

B.O. is one of the most intellectually out of date people on the political scene, being, as near as I can tell, completely committed to 1930’s communism spiced up with a little post-60’s new-left kookiness, which in turn dates largely back to the 1970’s.

(I doubt that there is anybody on the B.O. team that has even heard of the Austrian school of economics or its later practicioners.)

If the schools gave young people even a smattering of what’s been going on for the last century or two, the idiots we have in DC now would never have made it onto the ballot, much less into office.

And the B.O. team are nothing if not perfect products of the socialistic government school system. B.O. himself being, at least in part, a product of the Indonesian school system, not what you call a beacon of enlightenment in the modern world.

BTW, collectivism in its various forms, is the single oldest approach to social and political matters known to humanity.

It is the emphasis on the individual that is the great and potent advance of the last two centuries.

The socialist approach to things is far beyond merely reactionary. It is a throwback to the pre-commercial days of subsistence farming, hunting and gathering that date back before history and literacy.
