New ICE Policy: Let Illegal Aliens Go Free

From Fox News:

ICE Proposes New Policy That Would Let Illegal Immigrants Go Free

By Jana Winter

Illegal immigrants who get pulled over by police for traffic-related offenses will be set free if a proposed change in Immigration and Customs Enforcement policy is approved…

The proposed changes in ICE policy state:

“Immigration officers should not issue detainers against an alien charged only with a traffic-related misdemeanor unless or until the alien is convicted."

The ICE proposal would prevent law enforcement officers from reporting illegal immigrants identified during the course of a traffic-related stop or arrest to federal authorities unless:

— they are a convicted felon;

— they are wanted for a felony;

— they are part of an existing investigation;

— they were involved in an accident involving drugs or alcohol, or they fled the scene.

It is no accident that this is the mirror opposite of Arizona’s SB 1070 immigration bill.

The draft proposal was posted on ICE’s website last month with a request for public comment. They will consider comments on the proposal from anyone who submits them and agency officials will reconvene at a future time to discuss the suggestions…

ICE spokesman Brian Hale provided this statement:

"Some recent news reporting grossly mischaracterizes ICE’s draft detainer policy for which that the agency presently seeks public comment. ICE has removed record numbers of criminal and non-criminal aliens under this administration. The draft policy is designed to solicit public input on how to best set priorities for the use of our limited detention resources to protect public safety."

Once again ICE is claiming that we, the great unwashed, are just too stupid to understand that they are really just a think tank that delights in kicking around off the wall ideas like this. ICE would never actually implement a policy like this.

After all, who can doubt their intentions when they are rounding up illegal aliens and deporting them like never before.

    Two Points:

    1. Why wait until they become a felon, a druggie, or part of an investigation? The law is ALWAYS applied to citizens, why not them?

    2. Why is there such a long backlog for an immigration hearing? It shouldn’t take longer than 10 seconds, “Are you here legally or illegally?” No?–deportation.

    *It’s part of the Cloward-Piven strategy to overload the system until it becomes defective.

    Come on…. The elections are right around the corner. Obama and the democrats have to make sure their voters stay in the country atleast until the election!

    • Rusty Shackleford says:

      Of course, this is assuming that
      convicted felons, those under investigation, involved in an accident involving drugs or alcohol, are motivated to go vote.

      The “line of thinking” that the current democrats/socialists are using is absolutely unreal. Why would they actually consider that if they protect these miscreants, that they stand a better chance of getting elected? The contradiction in logic is so vast that it makes string theory look like a child’s toy.

      Then, of course, to make it seem logical and even simple, they apply the word “racism” to it. Yet, mexican isn’t race, nor is it even a culture. It’s instead a varied amount of many things, applied loosely to somehow apply to those who come from the south of the US border to include those of mixed Spanish, French and tribal/native descent who are also running cocaine, marijuana and other nefarious substances or guns in order to make a profit at the expense of those who don’t have any desire to do that.

      In other words scumbags using the innocent to make a profit.

      In other words, democrats.

      So, call me a racist, again…and use the very thing you despise to somehow make yourself appear legitimate.

    • JS says:

      Felons and violent crimminals generally don’t vote since they are too busy commiting crime, but the poor, victims from south of the border will vote for the party that promises to make them US citizens and hand them all the government goodies that the rest of us will pay for.

  3. Petronius says:

    By launching this attack on Arizona’s law, they also attack the U.S. immigration law, upon which Arizona’s statute was modeled.

    In other words, we now have a form of government in which an executive agency may, by bureaucratic decree, set aside not only State laws, but also laws enacted by Congress.

    In former times (i.e., pre-Nerobama), only the Federal courts had such authority, and then only when the law clearly violated the U.S. Constitution.

    In former times, this is what the founders called tyranny, and they established the Constitution to guard against it.

    • proreason says:

      It’s only one example.

      The primary way they subvert the law of the land is selective enforcement. We will never fully know how much of that there has been, but certainly Arizona and the Black Panther situation is only the tip of the iceberg.

      If that isn’t an impeachable offense, what possibly could be?

  4. tranquil.night says:

    Still working hard on those grand theories to keep us safe, established law be damned.

    May I suggest dropping the name ICE? That evokes a cold, unwelcoming feeling, and is not conducive to what should be a warm one for our illegal friends.

    How about the Super Happy Immigration Team? That’ll inspire smiles and cooperation, not fear and misunderstanding.

    (Meanwhile back on reality they’re staking signs and billboards warning us they’ve basically ceded land)

  5. beautyofreason says:

    So the illegal apparently doesn’t have to have any license to drive, insurance, registration or even identification like real Americans.

    If liberals say that ending illegal immigration is racist, then isn’t it also racist to give illegal aliens special privileges ?

  6. jimreport says:

    They cant let the fake ID carrying (or no ID) same day registration block get away before the election. Warm up the busses, get the cigarettes, score the crack, you know the drill dems….nobody talks everybody walks.

  7. AcornsRNutz says:

    In all fairness, do not blame ICE in particular. I was fortunate enough recently to travel from MA to VA in a car with an ICE attorney and Marine officer. I won’t go into specifics as I am not sure what of our conversation was not meant to be widely discussed, but suffice it to say that they do attempt to do their job, and are effectively hamstrung by sympathetic jurisdictional governments (generally mayors and governors) and other institutions in the federal government. The number of illegals they already turn away, and the American citizens responsible for their being here to boot, is rather staggering, and my impression was this bothers them immensly.
