New Obama Email: Demand A Carbon Tax

The latest missive from the agitator in chief, which incorporates all of the Democrat talking points we noted yesterday:

Xxxxx —

The BP oil spill in the Gulf Coast is the worst environmental disaster of its kind in our nation’s history. I am returning to the region today to review our efforts and meet with families and business owners affected by the catastrophe.

We are working to hold BP accountable for the damage to the lands and the livelihoods of the Gulf Coast, and we are taking strong precautions to make certain a spill like this never happens again.

Ever notice how Mr. Obama wants to make sure things never happen again? For instance his ‘financial reform’ bill is to make sure that we never have another financial crisis again. He has vowed that we will never have another recession again – that is, as soon as this one is over.

How can he make sure that a spill like this will never happen again? Especially, when most of the oil is being drilled for or transported by other countries?

But our work will not end with this crisis. That’s one of the reasons why last week I invited lawmakers from both parties to join me at the White House to discuss what it will take to move forward on legislation to promote a new economy powered by green jobs, combat climate change, and end our dependence on foreign oil.

A carbon tax is going to do this? How? When allocating nearly a trillion dollars on this new economy did nothing?

Today, we consume more than 20 percent of the world’s oil, but have less than two percent of the world’s oil reserves.

He is back to this canard.

Beyond the risks inherent in drilling four miles beneath the surface of the Earth, our dependence on oil means that we will continue to send billions of dollars of our hard-earned wealth to other countries every month — including many in dangerous and unstable regions.

Exactly whose fault is it that we have to drill so far offshore and so deep? Whose fault is it that we have to import so much oil from foreign countries, rather than getting it from our own resources?

In other words, our continued dependence on fossil fuels will jeopardize our national security.

When has Mr. Obama ever been concerned about our national security?

It will smother our planet. And it will continue to put our economy and our environment at risk.

Whereas taxing energy, the very thing that drives our economy on every level – during the midst of a recession and record unemployment – somehow that won’t put our economy at risk.

We cannot delay any longer, and that is why I am asking for your help.

Everything has to be done in haste. Because none of Mr. Obama’s programs would pass muster if people thought about them calmly.

Please stand with me today in backing clean energy. Adding your name will help Organizing for America create a powerful, public display of support for making this change happen.

The organizer in chief has spoken! It’s now up to us to ‘astro-turf’ for his policies.

The time has come, once and for all, for this nation to fully embrace a new future. That means continuing our unprecedented effort to make everything — from our homes and businesses to our cars and trucks — more energy-efficient.

For once Mr. Obama is right to call this “unprecedented.” Notice that a carbon tax is no longer the top priority for the European Union. Instead, they now think it is more important to try to keep their entire economic system from falling apart.

It means rolling back billions of dollars of tax breaks to oil companies so we can prioritize investments in clean energy research and development.

How many of these tax breaks to oil companies were for them to develop things that Congress wanted? And don’t we want to encourage them to continue to find oil and develop it for us? Since none of the alternatives are even remotely possible replacements in the near term future?

And where did all the money allocated in the ‘Stimulus’ for research into clean energy go?

Many businesses support this agenda because shifting to clean energy creates opportunities for entrepreneurship. This is how we will reinvent our economy — and create new companies and new jobs all across the country.

Where is this happening anywhere in the world? Even in the US, despite all of the money from the ‘Stimulus’ and other giveaways, ‘alternative energy’ companies are laying off workers or shutting down all together.

There will be transition costs and a time of adjustment. But if we refuse to heed the warnings from the disaster in the Gulf — we will have missed our best chance to seize the clean-energy future we know America needs to thrive in the years and decades to come.

And by “best chance” Mr. Obama means that the BP oil spill has given him the best crisis he can use to ram through this insane energy tax and to further destroy our economy.

The House of Representatives has already passed a comprehensive energy and climate bill, and there is currently a plan in the Senate — a plan that was developed with ideas from Democrats and Republicans — that would achieve the same goal. But this is an issue that Washington has long ignored in favor of protecting the status quo.

It seems to us we have heard that lie about “ideas from Democrats and Republicans,” before, such as in the ‘healthcare reform’ push.

No Republicans favor the Senate plan. Not even Lindsey Graham.

So I’m asking for your help today to show that the American people are ready for a clean-energy future.

Please add your name to mine:

Thank you,

President Barack Obama

Just like Mr. Clinton, who back in 1993 tried to ram through a BTU tax, Mr. Obama sees a ‘cap and trade’ as a way to tax the middle class without breaking his campaign promise. (Mr. Clinton, lest we forget, had campaigned on the promise to lower taxes on the middle class.)

Mr. Obama and the Democrats have finally realized that they have to hide their new taxes if they are going to getting re-elected. That’s what they like about the carbon tax and the VAT tax. These are hidden taxes. Nobody will know what they are paying. So the Democrats can raise them at their will. The citizenry will just think it is inflation.

If Mr. Obama really wanted to cut down on our use of oil, he would simply raise the federal gasoline tax. (Which is what Congress ended up doing in 1993, instead of passing Clinton’s BTU tax.) But, alas, a gas tax it is too visible and unpopular. Drivers will immediately figure how much they are being taxed.

A carbon tax, on the other hand, is an invisible tax. The consumer will never find out why prices for food, heat, transportation, and other necessities are skyrocketing. The average Joe will simply blame the ‘greedy’ oil companies, farmers, industry, or electric utilities. Which is precisely what the Democrats want. The citizenry will never blame the government, which can keep raising the carbon tax with little fear of ever being found out.

And never forget that taking more money from the people, getting more money out of the private sector, is what this all carbon tax is all about. Indeed, that is what every Obama initiative is always all about.

I really hate to wish away time because I do enjoy living but, I have to say that November can not get here fast enough. I read an article in the opinion section of the New York Times and the author J.M. Bernstein was driviling on about how the Tea Party folks couldn’t understand their own anger. http://opinionator.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/06/13/the-very-angry-tea-party/ I came upon this on Rush’s site from the guy who was sitting in for him yesterday the 14th of June.

This really hit home for me cause of the way the Tea Party folks “have succumbed to fearmongering falsehoods” and this is hilarious after reading the above posted article about how the most inexperienced President is attempting to justify ridding our country of the cheapest most efficient energy source man has developed in the last 100 years. I found the Bernstein article to be so absolutely ludicrous when overwhelming evidence of the destruction of this country has been underway since January 20, 2009. Was ramming health care down our throats a “fearmongering falsehood”?? The disarming of our military, the gross apologies to our enemies, and running out on our allies are these just imaginings of a crazed bunch of Americans that happen to be able to see through the minutia of the main stream media. I just get so insensed when I come across the ramblings of morons that have no real understanding as they sit in their ivory towers and tell us little people we are getting upset over nothing. $10 a gallon gasoline will not be a stretch if a bill such as this one were to be passed and forget about ever being able to turn on the air-conditioner again when the summer heat gets to 100 degrees. Just “fearmongering falsehoods” you know…..
