No Republicans Allowed In Labor Day Parade

From the Wisconsin ABC affiliate, WAOW:

Labor Day parade organizers: No Republicans allowed in parade

Nate Barrett, Multimedia Journalist
Aug 27, 2011

WAUSAU (WAOW) –Labor Day parade organizers confirm that no Republicans will be allowed to participate in this year’s Labor Day Parade.

Council president Randy Radtke says they choose not to invite elected officials who have "openly attacked worker’s rights" or did nothing when state public workers lost most of their right to collectively bargain.

The parade is sponsored by the Marathon County Labor Council. A Wausau city spokeswoman said the city does not contribute any money to the parade.

Rep. Sean Duffy’s chief of staff, Brandon Moody, released a statement to Newsline 9:

"Having walked in this parade in past years, Congressman Duffy was hoping that for a moment, we could set our differences aside and simply have some fun in a family-friendly event."

GOP pols told they’re not welcome at Wausau Labor Day parade

Community parades often feature local politicians waving to the crowds, but this year’s annual Labor Day parade in Wausau may be short a few elected officials.

That’s because the head of the group that sponsors the Wausau Labor Day Parade, the Marathon County Central Labor Council, is telling Republicans lawmakers from the area that they’re not welcome on Sept. 5.

"Usually they’ve been in the parade, but it seems like they only want to stand with us one day a year, and the other 364 days they don’t really care," said Randy Radtke, president of the Council. The Council is made up of about 30 local unions from the Marathon County area.

In a statement, Radtke added that parade is intended to celebrate working men and women and what the labor movement has given them: weekends, a 40-hour work week, child labor protection and a safe working environment.

None of which would have ever happened without unions.

"It should come as no surprise that organizers choose not to invite elected officials who have openly attacked worker’s rights or stood idly by while their political party fought to strip public workers of their right to collectively bargain," Radtke said.

And saved untold thousands of union members from losing their jobs.

Some of the snubbed Republican representatives from the Wausau area include U.S. Rep. Sean Duffy, state Sen. Pam Galloway (R-Wausau) and State Rep. Jerry Petrowski (R-Marathon).

We wonder if the union thugs organizers will also ban the US flag, since any public display of patriotism has been found to make people think and vote Republican.

Still, don’t you love the new civil tone?

I hope they’ll charge admission dues such that no worker attending the parade has any more money than any other in their wallet, tiered by seniority, of course; it simply wouldn’t be fair otherwise.

Oh, and of course the union LEADERS will have to have the fattest wallets of all – not like they don’t already.

Give liberals enough rope and they’ll hang themselves. The consequences of labor/liberal policies, a hostile business environment, economic waste, and high unemployment will eventually become obvious.

Thanks to Carter we got Reagan, who had been written off as a has-been in 1976 by the ascendent Democrat machine as well as the ‘progressive’ GOP..

Worker’s Rights? Hey look if you don’t like the job you have and want a new one you have every “right” to go find another. You can all “collectively agree” to find employment elsewhere, if you poor under-paid government workers find your jobs too overwhelming at the thought that you might have to pay some of your own damn way in the world. I have to tell you most of us hard working folks are sick and tired of paying for your benefits!!

If they can determine that certain of us Americans aren’t fit to attend their parade, then we shouldn’t allow these Jacobins into a parade that we deem them not fit to attend: our 4th Of July parade!

Subject: Your typical Barack Obama supporter

The attached video provides some insight to America into a typical Barack Obama supporter who has completely NO concept of what a free market, free society and capitalist system is all about. This person is what the Democratic Party prays on for their support and votes by providing “entitlements” to them, paid for by someone else who is working. This is what the conservative people of America are “up against” ………….Free Loaders! How many do you know?

  8. Ah, yes. Neo-bolshevik tolerance on full display. Because no Republicans could ever be considered ‘working men & women.’

    • sticks says:

We are not “working men & women.” We are filthy rich republican snobs who never want to pay enough taxes to help our poor brothers (and sisters) in the unions. We are vindictive meanies who like to have our servants work 16 hrs a day for next to nothing (along with their children). From my own personal experience I would rather be boiled in oil (it would be less painfull and I would die quicker) than to be forced into a union.

Wausau mayor wades into Labor Day parade dispute

The mayor of Wausau says the city won’t help with the cost of staging the annual Labor Day parade unless a decision to ban Republican politicians is reversed.

Marathon County Labor Council President Randy Radtke earlier said Republican elected officials were not invited to participate in the parade because they supported changes to collective bargaining for public employee unions. …

    • Mithrandir says:

Who are liberals to decide who can and can not participate in a PUBLIC parade?

Scott Walker SAVED millions of Wisconsin workers, by saving them their tax money, saving their in-debt government, and making the handful of parasites actually pay, partly anyway, their health care, and retirement.

Republicans ARE for the worker! —just not for the money-laundering democrat voting blocks.
