NK ‘Re-Elects’ (Dear Leader) Kim Jong-il

From his giddy fans at Reuters:

North Korea parliament renews Kim’s leadership

By Jack Kim Thu Apr 9

SEOUL (Reuters) – North Korea re-elected Kim Jong-il as its supreme military leader at its newly seated parliament on Thursday, marking his return to center stage as the country celebrates what it calls a triumphant satellite launch…

Kim, 67, has been conspicuously absent from major public events after a suspected stroke in August, which raised questions about his iron grip over Asia’s only communist dynasty and whether anyone was waiting in the wings to succeed him.

"The First Session of the 12th Supreme People’s Assembly of the DPRK held here elected leader Kim Jong-il chairman of the DPRK National Defense Commission," its KCNA news agency said, using the official name Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

The chairman of the National Defense Commission is the seat of power in North Korea, which named state founder and Kim’s father Kim Il-sung eternal president after his death in 1994.

The North lauded the launch as resulting from the state’s guiding ideals of self-reliance and military-first saying the rocket shot showed "the powerful strength of the DPRK, which has rushed forward like the wind toward the rich and powerful country."

Analysts said the carefully choreographed session of the rubber-stamp Supreme People’s Assembly would give Kim a mandate that cements his legacy of building a military-first state and could pave the way to transfer power to one of his three sons.

It was unclear whether Kim has appeared at the meeting as he customarily does at the opening session of parliament.

North Korea’s propaganda machine has carefully managed the re-emergence of Kim from his illness through reports about his tours to factories and military bases, while only showing still photographs of the visits.

It prepared the public for his full return by saying he was on hand Sunday to watch the long-range rocket launch. On Tuesday, it showed video footage of the launch on state TV followed by a documentary on Kim where the public saw recent video images of him for the first time since his suspected stroke…

Maybe the missile launch was an election stunt after all.

How soon will it be before the Congressional Black Caucus pays Mr. Kim a visit and begins to sing his praises?

Isn’t it amusing to hear Reuters and the rest of our media masters talk about other country’s “propaganda machines”?

But they shouldn’t be so envious. They wield far more effective power, albeit it is slightly more subtle – so they don’t get all the credit they would like.

Clearly, Democracy in N. Korea. Same as in Russia, Cuba and Venezuela.

History repeats, this is why I’m always wary of our own Government…especially our own Dear Leader.

  2. proreason says:

    N. Korea is The Moron’s model state.

  3. GL0120 says:

Isn’t it amazing? N. Korea can elect a leader with one vote, no campaigning, no recounts.
I’m certain that TCO is envious; he’s probably got his staff (and ACORN of course) working on implementing just such a system here.

The CBC will visit Mr. Kim some time after he’s pushing up the daisies (much like they did with Mr.Castro, if the stories about Fidel are to be believed). Sort of reminds me of that episode of Star Trek where Capt. Kirk, et al, go to visit a Federation colony that has come to resemble Nazi Germany. They discover the one-time leader near death and propped up in a chair doing the “Weekend At Bernie’s” thing to give televised, pre-recorded speeches to the unsuspecting populace.

So many parallels, so little time…

“near death and propped up in a chair”

Makes me wish we had a leader like that.

  5. canary says:

A clear victory, when no one can run against him. Just a few delegates rubber-stamping sticky-notes.
A model of a rule, I’m sure Obomi is looking forward to.

  6. 12 Gauge Rage says:

The ‘Dear Leader’ looks like he already has one foot in the grave.

    • Gila Monster says:

Indeed 12 Gauge, I’m surprised the little demented dwarf can hold that friggin’ melon of his erect.
(no offense intended to the little people out there) ;o)

BTW, what is Lil’ Kim holding up there? Is that an Obamby I-pod?

  7. Rusty Shackleford says:

    Hey Kim….

    So DIE already.

  8. B17Engr says:

It’s not the votes that count.
It’s the counters of the vote that keep these guys in!

  9. The Redneck says:

Now all we need is Jimmy Carter to go certify the election….

  10. Weasel says:

Whenever I see that loser, all I can think of is his solo from “Team America”:

Kim Jong Il: I’m so Ronery / So ronery / So ronery and sadry arone / There’s no one / Just me onry / Sitting on my rittle throne / I work rearry hard and make up get prans / but, nobody listens, no one understands / Seems rike no one takes me serirousry / And so, I’m ronery / A rittle ronery / Poor rittle me / There’s no one I can rerate to / Feewr rike a biwd in a cage / It’s kinda siwry / but, not reawry / because, it’s fiwring my body with rage / I’m the smartest, most crever, most physicawry fit / but, nobody erse seems to rearrize it / When I can the worrd maybe they’rr notice me / And untiwr then, I’wr be ronery / Yeaaaaah, a rittle ronery / Poor rittle me…

  11. Liberals Demise says:

Kimshe Jock Itch really died some time ago. They skinned him and made a 10 year old wear his nasty skin out in public…..hence the tattered old look!

Kim is in Hell with Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Marx, Amin, Arafat, Lenin, Hirahito, Papa Doc, Tojo, all radical Muslims, LBJ, James Carville, etc…….

I threw James in there ’cause he LOOKS like the Devil himself!!
