Novak Stands by Obama Dirt Story, Compares Clinton Campaign Tactics to Nixon

WASHINGTON — Columnist Robert Novak stood by his story Monday that the Clinton campaign is spreading the word that it’s holding back on dishing dirt on Barack Obama, and charged the Democratic frontrunner with playing “Nixon tricks.”
Novak, a FOX News contributor, added that he did not believe there were any Republicans behind the effort — as some have alleged since his column was published Saturday — to force Democrats to fight against each other.
Novak’s initial report said: “Agents of Sen. Hillary Clinton are spreading the word in Democratic circles that she has scandalous information” about Obama, “but has decided not to use it. The nature of the alleged scandal was not disclosed.”
On Monday, Novak told FOX News that claims that there is actual dirt on Obama might not pass the sniff test.
“This is very similar to the kind of trick that Richard Nixon used to pull, where he would say, ‘I know some very bad information about the communists supporting George McGovern, but I can’t put that out because it wouldn’t be right, but I’m just too good of a guy,’ ” Novak said…
Novak also said he still had no proof that there really is scandalous information about Obama, only that he’s certain that Clinton’s campaign told well-connected Democrats that they had such information.
“Now whether there is any such scandalous information, I don’t’ know, but what I know is I’m confident in my sources, who I trust. We’re told this by Clinton people that there was such information out.”
Obama responded angrily after Novak’s column was published, challenging Clinton’s campaign to come forward with the information, if it exists.
“Sen. Clinton should either make public any and all information referred to in the item, or concede the truth: that there is none. She of all people, having complained so often about the politics of personal destruction, should move quickly to either stand by or renounce these tactics.”
He also denounced the attacks as reminiscent of the “Swift boat” campaign against Sen. John Kerry in the 2004 presidential race, in which his supporters say his military record was attacked with unsubstantiated reports by the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth group.
Clinton’s campaign has denied any knowledge of the story, and suggested that Republicans might be behind the report. Novak is a conservative columnist.
Clinton spokesman Jay Carson said Saturday that Obama was “walking right into a Republican trap.”
But Novak said the claims of Republican involvement are unsubstantiated.
“The whole method of the Clinton campaign is when anything derogatory comes up, they say the Republicans are spreading it. But there was no Republicans involved in any of my reporting on this,” Novak said Monday…
Mr. Obama seems to believe it.
And he should know.

Yet another example of Hillary Rodham Clinton’s emulating our 37th President; her arch nemisis, Richard Milhouse Nixon.
At least Nixon had the decency to resign rather than drag the country through the mud he raked up. Unfortunately, Mrs. Clinton gives no indication that when her time comes, that she will do the same.

Boy, when a Clinton says they have scandalous information on you, you must really be a deviant. Of course, they practically invented the term so they oughta know I guess.
I do love how, no matter what the dems do to or say about one another, it’s somehow a republican plan. Something untoward or insulting happens to a liberal and it just has to be because of those evil republicans.
These two (Clinton and Obama) have got to be the most manufactured, worthless, idea deficient candidates in the history of presidential politics. They’ve got absolutely nothing do they? Ross Perot had more substance than these two. At least he had operated a successful business and made some money the honest way. What have these two bozos ever done besides complain that the laziest class of Americans need more from the taxpayer?

This is ironic since Obama’s opponent in his only US senate campaign dropped out after unsealed divorce documents alleged that he had sex with his own ex-wife while they were married. Whereas Republicans are held to standards, Democrats have no standards, which is why there is nothing, absolutely nothing, that can drive a wedge between Obama and his supporters (apart from secretly harboring classical economic views or a love of our country).

Is Anthony Pellicano out of prison yet? I recall that he was the Clinton snoop who went digging into other people’s dirt. By the way: another conservative website has kicked out people who are not ardent Fred thompson supporters. I guess this is: “freedom for thee but not for me”.

Mr. Pellicano was slated to be released on February 4, 2006.
But, sadly, he was transferred to a Los Angeles County jail pending a new indictment on wiretapping and racketeering charges.

Is it just me - but when he was ‘leaking’ the Plame (covert in her own mind) info -to be used against the Bush Administration - he was a great reporter doing his duty. Now that it is anti-dem, he is just a Republican shill doing their dirty work?
So I would guess that indeed Clinton is going to drag Obama through the mud. Is that any surprise?
Btw, to a body language person - that pic is a complete testimony to extreme dislike - you always cross your leg away and turn away from someone you despise. Wow. I am shocked that either one allowed themselves to expose that hidden feeling - so publicly.

What I would say if I were Obama… Hilldog, tell me, why did your husband BOMB countries during Monica’s
questioning, and before his impeachment trials? Was he trying to hide anything? And why did Sandie Buggar stuff
classified documents into his pants right before the 9-11 hearings? Was there something in there that linked 9-11
to the Clinton bombing fiascos he partook in to get the media spot light off of him? Was there something in there
that mentioned threats to America citing “Monica-bombings” as their reason? What on Earth would cause
someone to STUFF documents into their pants, risking their career and legal penalties? Were there documents
that had a “wag the dog” theme Hilldog?

As near as I can tell, John Kerry had one successful venture- He lead a bunch of Anti-America Americans to support the North Vietnamese, during their war against America. which enabled the North Vietnamese to claim victory over the US. He has had no other achievements to justify his presidential campaign

WI, I’ll grant you he has done that with the rich women. However, several others have done that also. But few seem to have done so well attacking the US military members consistently for so many years and being so well rewarded for it.

Reality Bytes, it’s Greg Craig. And his a major player and oh, so much more.
He was Teddy Kennedy’s legal advisor when Kennedy had to testify in the rape case of his nephew. He has been life long friends with the Clintons, and he is one of the behind-the-scenes players that everyone should look at and make note of. Not because of his political ambitions but because of what he does and who he does it for.

Come on with this garbage, lets be serious. Comparing hitlerry to nixon is like saying manson and pol pot are equals. Hitlerry has more dead bodies to her credit than charles and her entire life has been dedicated to destroying people, why do you think she wants to be president? What other position could give you more potential victims than the White House. She is just foaming at the mouth waiting for the opportunity to deal misery out of the oval office. B. Hussein Obama is just the latest victim and she is loving it. America, don’t get in bed with that dog, her fleas bite hard.

F1: Hey, no offense to RMN, but while Mrs. Clinton raged against the Nixon administration TO THE POINT OF WRITING LEGALS THAT DEMANDED HE NOT BE ALLOWED COUNSEL (why it was OK in 98-99 I remained mystified), she has morphed into a female/nixonian/transformer fusion of metaphysic proportions.
I also remain confused about major media endorsements of her based on her qualifications. To be qualified requires accountability for actions taken. And as one whose patterns were to obfuscate by hiding behind her husband who actually was in office, she had virtually none - no matter how many doors she slammed, lives she ruined, or relationships she trashed.

You make an excellent point, RB, re: Hillary’s qualifications. As far as I can see, she is about as qualified for the presidency as the any of the wives of any other elected official. No more and no less. Her senator-ship doesn’t count in my book. She lucked into the job on name recognition and because of Rudy’s illness, and hasn’t taken it seriously except as a way to get more media coverage to fuel her POTUS run.
So she knows her way around the buildings in D.C. So what?

She has no qualification to be POTUS. None at all. There is nothing in the Senate that makes you qualified. Being a lawyer that defends 300 lb. gorillas that beat up their girlfriend doesn’t. Defending a pork & beans company against a rat’s ass doesn’t, although she has been defending “government pork” ever since. It’s like a brain surgeon’s wife deciding to do brain surgery with no training because she’s married to one. Or a fighter pilots wife deciding on a couple of cat shots from the USS Nimitz. Or a….well I could go on forever. Other than Rose Law, she has never worked in the private sector. She has never been accountable for fiscal responsibility, although by the very nature of whatever she was doing all the years between starting her arrangement with Billary and today, she has been fiscally irresponsible. She has never had to make a decision that would result in people living or dying other than the decision to support abortion or the vote for the war in Iraq, that she now says was a mistake.
Nope, Hillary isn’t qualified to be POTUS. The only thing her “wealth” of experience qualifies her for is an ambulance chasing trailer trash client lawyer in Arkansas.
