NOW Denounces Palin Pick As Cynical Ploy
A press release from the National Organization Of Women:
Not Every Woman Supports Women’s Rights
August 29, 2008
Statement of NOW PAC Chair Kim Gandy on the Selection of Sarah Palin as John McCain’s Vice Presidential Pick
Sen. John McCain’s choice of Alaska governor Sarah Palin as his running mate is a cynical effort to appeal to disappointed Hillary Clinton voters and get them to vote, ultimately, against their own self-interest.
Gov. Palin may be the second woman vice-presidential candidate on a major party ticket, but she is not the right woman. Sadly, she is a woman who opposes women’s rights, just like John McCain.
The fact that Palin is a mother of five who has a 4-month-old baby, a woman who is juggling work and family responsibilities, will speak to many women. But will Palin speak FOR women? Based on her record and her stated positions, the answer is clearly No.
In a gubernatorial debate, Palin stated emphatically that her opposition to abortion was so great, so total, that even if her teenage daughter was impregnated by a rapist, she would “choose life” — meaning apparently that she would not permit her daughter to have an abortion.
Palin also had to withdraw her appointment of a top public safety commissioner who had been reprimanded for sexual harassment, although Palin had been warned about his background through letters by the sexual harassment complainant.
What McCain does not understand is that women supported Hillary Clinton not just because she was a woman, but because she was a champion on their issues. They will surely not find Sarah Palin to be an advocate for women.
Sen. Joe Biden is the VP candidate who appeals to women, with his authorship and championing of landmark domestic violence legislation, support for pay equity, and advocacy for women around the world.
Finally, as the chair of NOW’s Political Action Committee, I am frequently asked whether NOW supports women candidates just because they are women. This gives me an opportunity to once again answer that question with an emphatic ‘No.’ We recognize the importance of having women’s rights supporters at every level but, like Sarah Palin, not every woman supports women’s rights.
Obviously the NOW harridans only approve of women who get ahead on the coat tails of their husbands, like Hillary Clinton.

So, now NOW raises its ugly head to pontificate about women’s rights. Where were you when Hillary sent George to deal with Bill’s women? Did NOW stand tall for Paula Jones, or Monica, or Juanita? I think not. Where have you been on the honor killings that have been rampant throughout Europe? ( some have been in the US as well) Where have you been on infidel rapes that are at epidemic levels in Europe? NOW is a fair weather, morally bankrupt organization that has no more honor or integrity than our National press.
Go peddle your bs somewhere else; you are useless, a joke!

…..”the NOW harridans only approve of women who get ahead on the coat tails of their husbands, like Hillary Clinton……”
Put SanFranNan and Boxer on the list too. NOW has marginalized themselves simply by BEING themselves. They are pathetic and funny all at once. Or is that pathetically funny?

If you are not a lesbian with at least 6 abortions, NOW has no use for you.

Didn’t take the ugly bunch long to start their attack. Not only is Governor Palin pro life and the mother of FIVE, but she is a former beauty queen. The NAGS are beside themselves with hatred. She is everything they detest.

NOW is a bunch of miserable old women. Petty, vindictive, and cruel.
If Palin wasn’t a threat to them - they wouldn’t react this way. She is everything they aren’t - in other words, a real woman.

moonspinner - you forgot she is shown taking her baby with her (rather than leaving him with a nanny/day care), she is devoted to her husband, and her God. You were right though - she is everything they detest.
And EQ you are right too - she is indeed a real woman.
These 60+ days are going to be a hoot - I don’t think anyone expected something like this to wake up America - and really, truly give her people Hope for a better tomorrow.

John McCain’s a woman?

VP Palin is on CNBC as we speak. The more she talks the more I like her.

But will Palin speak FOR women?
Once again, we get the liberal take on women. As everyone knows, every woman thinks exactly the same way about every issue. We can’t help it. None of us has a brain in our pretty little heads.
*sigh* No one can speak for all women, but I suspect Palin will speak better for me than NOW ever has.

Such a joke. Everybody knows that Roe v Wade is very unlikely to be overturned if McCain/Palin are elected. Since the immediate attack on her experience backfired because she has done more in 2 years as Governor than Obama has ever done (as a “Community Organizer”, state senator and US Senator combined), the usual suspects are now out on the attack to paint Palin as an extremist with the same old boring tactics that have failed in the past.
I saw on O’Reilly last night the DNC trotted out some not bad looking lady “strategist” who while on the surface looked appealing, was otherwise a clueless hack. Then out comes Laura Ingraham later in the show and shows yet again that conservative women are not only more attractive, but also have the intelligence to actually discuss the issues without relying on talking points to make their case.

While the hags at NOW talk the talk, Sarah Palin has been walking the walk. Palin is everything NOW has professed to be in favor of and now they repudiate her. They’re pathetic old crones and hypocrites.
NOW is been exposed for what they really are - an advocacy group for Lesbian rights and Democrats. Not that there’s anything wrong with that but they no longer have any credibility when they claim to be for strong women in America.
Here we have Sarah Palin - a great example for NOW to advocate and they show their true colors. I always thought their catch-phrase was the word choice. I guess that was just a lie.

It is amazing how few rights groups like NARAL and NOW seem to think women have, or ought to have:
It all boils down to one single “right” - The “right” to kill babies before they are born, as often as possible, as easily as possible, as unchecked as possible. This one “right” is the essence of woman, according to NOW and NARAL and their sick supporters.
To them, nothing is more important to a woman (who is the progenitor of the species) than being able to kill her unborn spawn.
Keep it up gang. Fewer and fewer women are believing that this “right” is the be-all and end-all of womanhood.

Amazing that its not my right to drive a car, its called a privilege.
But somehow, having an abortion is somehow a right, hell, its even the right thing to do!
You gotta love the libeal mindset….Um, well no!
