NYT Attack On Perry Distorts Obama’s Past

From a fact-free New York Times:

Perry’s Latest Attacks Distort Obama’s Words and Past

November 17, 2011

Over the past several days, Gov. Rick Perry of Texas has claimed that President Obama called Americans “lazy.” And then he sharpened the attack, suggesting that Mr. Obama grew up a child of privilege…

Remember, the New York Times published this is in their news section, not on their op-ed page.

As Mr. Perry has painted himself as the cure for Washington’s ills, however, some his recent attacks have drifted into the realm of falsehood, repeating some of the themes of past critiques suggesting that Mr. Obama is elitist

The advertisement begins with a clip of Mr. Obama stating, “We’ve been a little bit lazy, I think, over the last couple of decades.”

The nerve of using someone’s words against them!

But Mr. Obama’s statement was not about “Americans” generally, but about the country’s efforts to attract foreign investment. It came in response to a question put to him at a conference last weekend by W. James McNerney Jr., chief executive of Boeing, who had asked him how foreign investors looked at the United States…

And this context changes what, exactly?

Mr. Perry, however, took things one step further on Wednesday night during an interview on Fox News. A Fox host, Sean Hannity, showed the new ad and asked the governor, “What does it reveal to you about his mind-set and his thinking?”

Speaking about Mr. Obama, Mr. Perry replied: “It reveals to me that he grew up in a privileged way. You know, he never had to really work for anything. He never had to go through what Americans are going through.”

Mr. Obama, whose background could be considered no better off than middle class, was raised partly by a single mother who at times, he has said, was on food stamps.

Here The Times doesn’t just "drift into the realm of falsehood," they are soaking in it. Mr. Obama was first raised by a step-father who was an executive at an oil company. Then he was raised by his grandmother, who was the vice President of Hawaii’s second largest bank. He attended Hawaii’s second most exclusive and second most expensive private prep school. He appears to have worked only one day in his life – at a Baskin Robbins.

As for his mother being on food stamps, Obama himself said this in an interview that appeared in the October 15, 2006 edition of Time Magazine Obama says: "I was going to a fancy prep school, and my mother was on food stamps while she was getting her Ph.D."

He also achieved the pinnacle of legal education, winning election as president of the Harvard Law Review.

For the record, there the Harvard Law Review selects between 41 and 43 editors annually from the second-year Law School class.

Two are selected half by their year grades and by their scores on the writing competition. Another twenty are selected on their scores on the writing competition. The other seven to nine are selected by a discretionary committee, either to fulfill the review’s race-based affirmative action program, , to select students who just missed the cut by either of the other two processes, or by some other criteria as the committee sees fit…

Given that there is no record of Obama winning any writing contests, it’s a safe assumption he became one of the 43 editors thanks to affirmative action. As for becoming President of the review, the Presidents are elected by the 43 editors. Often to make a political statement. (For instance, one of the succeeding Presidents after Obama was the first Hispanic to hold that office.)

So Obama’s rise was not quite a Horatio Alger story, after all.

The attacks on Mr. Obama come as Mr. Perry enters a more aggressive phase of his campaign in terms of ad strategy. Up to now, his ads have mainly focused on biographical themes with positive messages. But with the Iowa caucuses less than seven weeks away, the campaign is shifting to a more pointed tone…

And so is the New York Times and the rest of the Democrat Media Complex.

Obama has distorted his own past beyond redemption in his so-called ‘autobiographies’. Bill Ayers ghost wrote ‘Dreams of My Father’ for Obummer and critics lauded it as brilliantly written. Obummer basked in the praise. Then came ‘The Audacity of Hope’, which was so amateurish that it was obvious that he didn’t write his first one.

There’s essentially no difference between the Regime Media of China, Russia, or the U.S. now. They’re all organs of The Party.

Which is why such sites as this are so essential.

The other day, I was at work having a conversation and someone brought up some event. I admitted my ignorance to it and the other person said, “It was in all the papers and on the news” to which they got dumbfounded by my laughter. I then said, “Well, if those were the reporting entities, then I’m really not interested in it" which, of course offended them. I then told them I won't explain myself other than to say I haven't read a paper or watched TV news in two decades.

One of the things that our free society has accomplished is that the news has been free to tell the story any way they want and although I agree that censorship is bad, playing fast and loose with the truth is worse. The lack of self-editing and really applying a critical eye for fairness in writing and reporting has vanished. Gone are the days where truth is sacred, no matter how hard it is to swallow. Bias is standard and I prefer to avoid the left with every fiber of my being.

Well said, Rusty, and your point is well taken. Thank God for the internet….

I’m waiting for the first piece of reliable information about Obama’s past.

Unfortunately, the last relative who could attest to what happened until he was 19 or 20 passed away a few days before his election. What a sad coincidence for the new boy king, who was 48 at the time, and like oh, about 1 in 10,000 48 year-old Americans, his mother, father, grandmother, and grandfather had all passed away.

But in Obama’s case, he also doen’t have any aunts, uncles or cousins who know more than bits and pieces of cursory info about him. His grandparents you see had moved 2,000 miles from their family home a few years before the baby dictator was born, and then suddenly about 6,000 miles from there to Hawaii just a few months before he was born. So, like maybe a dozen other Americans out of 300 million, there is abolutely NOBODY who knows anything about the scourge of white america. All coincidental, of course. But I could understand how some people might find it mighty strange.

Obama recalls living in a huge front ocean home in Hawaii. He was bitter when he came back from Indonesia and lived in an apt. He was bitter towards the children who had bigger houses and swimming pools. And he lied about his ritzy neighborhood 2 bedroom condo with no garage during the campaign. legal discription said 3 bedrooms (Obama had an office) and the garage in the historic housing was detached. They had a come in their home nanny and maid. And all the private school money, on a teachers pay. His wife hated cooking so they got a cook too. Eating out was making them overweight and sluggish.
