NYT Attacks Group Seeking Obama FOIAs

First we have this bit of background on Crossroads GPS, via the Politico:

Crossroads GPS launches FOIA site

By Mike Allen
March 23, 2011

Crossroads GPS, the cash-flush Republican advocacy group, is launching a new initiative and website Thursday, Wikicountability.org, which is designed to crowdsource FOIA files from organizations, individuals and journalists who have sought, and who have received, public information from the Obama administration. Thousands of pages of information from the departments of Labor and Health and Human Services have been uploaded to the site, and Crossroads is encouraging other groups and individuals to upload their own FOIA reports as well.

The horror!

The site is also designed to spotlight what it suggests is the administration’s poor record of compliance with FOIA — with a special section devoted to unfulfilled FOIA requests.

The launch of Wikicountability.org will reveal:

The Andy Griffith ad promoting Obamacare last year cost taxpayers $3.66 million – including $404,000 in production – according to records obtained from HHS in a FOIA request earlier this year.

Labor Secretary Hilda Solis met with union bosses or attended their events on more than 40 separate occasions from February 2009-January 2010.

– Consumer Financial Protection Bureau head Elizabeth Warren made time for dinner with liberal journalists including American Prospect’s Bob Kuttner, Mother Jones’s David Corn and DailyKos.com’s Markos Moulitsas.

– Among dozens of unfulfilled FOIA requests by the Obama administration: The Department of Education has yet to offer any response to a February 2010 FOIA request for Education Secretary Arne Duncan’s schedule and travel vouchers.

Crossroads is doing what our news media would be doing, if we had a free press.

After all, the very same labor unions that put Mr. Obama into office, and who helped him force through Obama-care, and who are now getting waivers exempting them from the mandates of Obama-care. You would think that some ‘journalists’ would be interested in such an obvious scandal. But you would be wrong, because there we have no journalists worthy of the name.

Instead we have the lickspittle minions of the Democrat party, who call themselves reporters. And they have already leaped into action to do whatever they can to keep any of this information from coming out.

Here is an example from the tireless seekers of the truth at the New York Times:

Rove Group Introduces Web Site Seeking Disclosures

March 23, 2011

Crossroads GPS, the group founded by Karl Rove to help finance conservative issues and election-year messages, on Wednesday introduced a Web site aimed at collecting the unfulfilled Freedom of Information requests made of President Obama’s government…

Notice how The Times managed to work Mr. Rove’s name into both the headline and their lead paragraph. For the record, Mr. Rove is not even listed as part of the leadership team for Crossroads GPS or its parent group, American Crossroads.

But the effort immediately drew criticism from Democrats and campaign watchdog groups, who noted that Crossroads had been under fire since its inception for refusing to reveal its donors.

“It is incredibly ironic that Crossroads wants to take about openness when they are highly secretive,” said Melanie Sloan, the executive director of Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington. “I think the whole thing is a gimmick. It is ridiculous coming from Rove.”

Lest we forget, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington is a George Soros funded DNC front group. Melanie Sloan used work for Joe Biden and John Conyers. Other members of its leadership are from the Soros front, Media Matters.

It should also be noted that whatever its faults, Crossroads GPS is a private group that uses only private donations. They file all the paperwork required by law. They do not use taxpayers’ money for their work, like Mr. Obama has done for his healthcare propaganda.

A top Democratic official joked that he “never knew Karl Rove was such a fan of F.O.I.A.’s., but we welcome his new-found interest in greater transparency. And given Crossroads and Mr. Rove’s new-found interest in transparency, we look forward to their taking this opportunity to disclose all Crossroads GPS donors, which to date they have kept secret.” …

Don’t you love it when anonymous Democrats mock people for their lack of transparency? (That is, if this official even exists, and wasn’t just made up so that The Times could put their words into someone’s mouth.)

But never mind all that. It must be time for the Obama administration to be given another award for its ‘transparency.’

I have to only say – I guess speaking TRUTH to POWER is only PATRIOTIC when it is Dems fighting evil Republicans. And a citizen could go positively nuts with all the lines, circles and money laundering that the Dems/Left/Unions are doing.

Yes let’s just point out the speck in a GOP eye while ignoring the beam in our own.

Typical, typical – and such stellar journOlism.

The Illinois State Archives told Judicial Watch that they never received any request from Senator Obama to archive any records in his possession. In 2007, Obama told Tim Russert that his records were “not kept.”

And there’s less on the web every day. In time, the entire Obama body of knowledge will consist of 3 documents — “Dreams From My Father” — “The Audacity of Hope” — and the latest — “Change We Can Believe In” — all written by Barack Hussein Obama or his “ghost-writers.”

Just an accident? I don’t think so.

And this is the original list — it has been copied all over the Internet — but this is the original source.
