NYT: ‘Blast’ Strikes In Moscow Airport

Deadly Blast Strikes in Moscow’s Main Airport

January 24, 2011

MOSCOW — An explosion rocked an international terminal of Moscow’s busiest airport on Monday afternoon. There were conflicting reports on the number of dead and injured, but the toll appeared to be rising rapidly. The authorities were seeking to determine the cause, but Russian investigators released a statement saying that the case was being treated as a terrorist attack

‘Blasts strike’ all the time. Why point fingers?

The Health Ministry reported that 31 people had been killed and 130 injured, according to Ria Novosti…

The airport, southeast of the capital, is Russia’s largest hub for international travelers, with more than 20 million passengers passing through last year.

If investigators find the explosion was the result of terrorism, it would be the first such attack to hit Moscow since March, when two suicide bombers detonated explosives on the city’s subway during rush hour. More than 40 people were killed in that attack, which was traced to two women from Dagestan who had ridden buses into the capital.

Women of apparently no religious persuasion, at least according to The Times.

The rebel leader Doku Umarov took responsibility for the March attack. In 2009, Mr. Umarov revived a suicide battalion linked to the most notorious attacks of the last decade. In a video apparently made hours after the blast, Mr. Umarov said “the war will come to your streets, and you will feel it in your own lives and on your own skin.”

Of course Mr. Umarov is a Muslim extremist. But, naturally, The Times would not want to mention such a detail. They don’t want their readers to jump to any hasty conclusions.

There could be a backlash.

In August 2004, two Chechen suicide bombers boarded separate planes at Domodedovo airport before killing themselves and 88 others in midair. The attack exposed holes in security at the airport: the two bombers, both women, had been detained shortly before boarding, but were released by a police supervisor. Authorities have since worked to improve procedures at the airport.

Again no mention of the religion of the bombers. In fact, the neither of the words ‘Muslim’ or ‘Islam’ can be found anywhere in this New York Times article.

If only Sarah Palin and the Tea Party would get such consideration from the ‘newspaper of record.’

If there was neither mention of religion nor political affiliation then I must defer to the long standing traditions of the Associated Press and its tentacled cohorts around the world ….. these bombers were Democrats.

  2. mr_bill says:

hmmm…I wonder if there is a group that is known to engage in suicide bombings against innocent civilians. That could give us a clue.

I got lambasted in a debate with a liberal over my statement that Muslims get blamed for terrorism because terrorists are overwhelmingly Muslim. He told me he would rain a s–tstorm all over anyone who said to his son, “Sorry, fella, it’s fair for me to assume you smoke dope because you’re a skater.” (I refrained from telling him that I think it probably is fair to assume that a greasy-haired skateboarder is in possession of marijuana…) The omissions in this article are more of the same. If a certain group (other than Christians, conservatives, or Republicans) starts doing something evil, we must strain with all our might to avoid generalizing them as an evil group.

Where are all the ‘moderate’ muslims of the World standing up and condemning this terrible tragedy?

I can’t wait for the msm to start telling us ‘not to jump to conclusions’ on this event – I will simply go back to the first thought in my mind as I watched the footage on the Pentagon attack on September 11, 2001 – nuke ’em till they glow’

Until we stand up as we did in WWI and WWII – this terrible and unnecessary loss of life will continue.

And dscam – you should have asked him to tell you exactly who is committing terrorism in the World who is not radical extremists who just happen to be islamic? I can’t remember the last time that a terrorist act wasn’t perpetrated by a group who wasn’t in some way linked to islam – except maybe the environmentalists.

The long arm of the Tea Pary, Sarah Palin and Rush Limbaugh reaches into the Moscow airport.

…..” The Times would not want to mention such a detail……….There could be a backlash……”

If the last (no more than two-dozen, I’m sure) NYT readers were to buy the farm due to an attack by a suicide bomber (of unknown ethnicity and religious persuasion), would the Times be guilty of a blood libel?

Is Russia gonna keep on supplying Iran & their nuclear ambitions?

  8. Enthalpy says:

From articles I’ve seen, by the year 2020 the Russian army will be 50% Muslim. If that statistic is correct, it should provide just one more reason to expect objectivity from the liberal’s press.

  9. untrainable says:

    I blame Communism.

Don’t count on it. When the ‘religion of ‘peace’ terrorized and murdered all those beautiful school children on their Education Day (1st day of the school year) in Beslan, the Russian’s response was to go after the muslim bastards and kill them. Not to treat them with kid gloves like we in the west do; just find them and kill them.

The second part of the Russian reaction was to hire the Cossacks to find them and kill them. Cossacks are historically the peoples who brought to an end the invasion of the muslim hoards in Austria. (which gave birth to the idea of crescent rolls – symbolically destroying their crescent moon symbol.)

Muslim terrorists in Russia don’t take credit for the death and mayhem like they do in the rest of the world… the reason being they know the retaliation by Cossacks will be swift and hard.

Too bad we in the west don’t have Cossacks.
