O-Care Medical Device Tax Will Cost 30,000 Jobs

From an unfazed Associated Press:

Study: 33,000 Jobs Impacted Due To Obamacare’s Medical Device Tax

February 24, 2014

WASHINGTON — A new study reveals that nearly 33,000 jobs have been impacted due to the Affordable Care Act’s medical device excise tax. The report comes from the Advanced Medical Technology Association following an online survey of member companies last year.

“According to the report, the tax has led to employment reductions of approximately 14,000 industry workers and foregone hiring of 19,000 workers,” the study stated. “The total job impact of the tax on industry employment was approximately 33,000.”

Stephen J. Ubl, CEO of AdvaMed, said this tax needs to be repealed. ..

Remember, how there was bipartisan support to get rid of this medical device tax? (Because Democrats, like Al Franken, were afraid their constituents might figure out why they are losing their jobs in the medical device industry.)

In fact, we were led to believe that its repeal was practically a sure thing. And yet, even though there was sacred bi-partisan operation, the medical device tax is still the Law Of The Land.

But just wait until Obama finds out that this device tax is costing jobs. He will do something about it. He is focused like a laser on saving and creating jobs.

Unified in their opposition to Obamacare, Republicans have been relentless in focusing on its problems, from complaints of canceled policies to higher insurance premiums and President Barack Obama’s unilateral decision to delay for two years the requirement that small businesses cover employees.

The GOP effort has intensified this election year as Republicans look to capitalize on dissatisfaction with the law, turning voter dismay into November victories. The ill effect of Obamacare is the GOP’s constant refrain.

Huh? Why bring this up in an article about the medical device tax? When the opposition to it was very bi-partisan. And it still went nowhere.

The one thing that was never “axed” was the right questions by the media about how bad it will be.
