Obama Admits Rights Shortcomings To UN

We almost missed the Obama administration’s latest (as of this hour) apology to the world, as reported by a delighted Associated Press:

US admits human rights shortcomings in UN report

By Matthew Lee, Associated Press Writer Mon Aug 23, 2010

WASHINGTON – The Obama administration has told the United Nations that America’s human rights record is less than perfect but stressed that the U.S. political system has built-in safeguards that promote improvements.

In its first-ever report to the U.N. Human Rights Council on conditions in the United States, the State Department said Monday that some Americans, notably minorities, are still victims of discrimination.

Why are we reporting to the United Nations about anything, much less ‘human rights’?

Despite success in reforming such inequities as slavery and the denial of women’s right to vote, the department said, considerable progress is still needed.

What a laugh. Check out the state of slavery and women’s rights in some of the countries currently serving on the UN Human Rights Council, such as: Bahrain, Burkina Faso, Gabon, Ghana, Pakistan, and Zambia.

"Although we have made great strides, work remains to meet our goal of ensuring equality before the law for all," it said.

Well, that is for sure. Just ask the victims of voter intimidation in Philadelphia. Or, indeed, any person of non-color who has had their civil rights violated.

The report noted that although the U.S. now has an African-American president and that women and Hispanics have won greater social and economic success, large segments of American society suffer from unfair policies and practices.

High unemployment rates, hate crime, poverty, poor housing, lack of access to health care and discriminatory hiring practices are among the challenges the report identified as affecting blacks, Latinos, Muslims, South Asians, Native Americans and gays and lesbians in the United States.

Really? Gays and lesbians are some of the highest wage earners in the US. But, of course, the whole list is preposterous. It would seem that the only people in the US who are not discriminated against are white heterosexuals.

The report, which drew on meetings that U.S. officials held with various groups around the country since January, also cited concerns from civil rights activists and citizens related to immigration and racial profiling by law enforcement agencies.

Of course it did. After all, none less an expert that the State Department spokesman (and former Soros stooge) PJ Crowley has already ‘admitted’ to China that we were violating human rights with Arizona’s new immigration law.

The 29-page report was submitted to the Human Rights Council on Friday but was not published until Monday. Members of the council, which the United States joined only last year, are required to submit reviews of their rights records. The report was the first "Universal Periodic Review" produced by the U.S.

Which is to say, this is all the doing of Mr. Barack Hussein Obama. What a surprise, huh?

In one of his first moves to reach out to the international community, President Barack Obama decided that the U.S. should run for a seat on the council. The Bush administration had shunned the panel for years over its alleged [sic] disproportionate criticism of Israel and membership that includes repressive regimes

And you see how much more loved the US is now, all around the world, now that we are confessing our sins on a near daily basis.

The American Civil Liberties Union praised the administration for engaging with the council but said the report neglected to address key areas where the U.S. has not met its human rights obligations. Those areas include inhumane prison conditions, racial disparities in death penalty cases, and abuses in the immigration detention system.

"It is time for the U.S. to match its human rights rhetoric with concrete domestic policies and actions and create a human rights culture and infrastructure that promote American values of equality and justice for all," said Jamil Dakwar [sic], director of the ACLU’s human rights program.

Yes, by all means we must strive to please the ACLU, as well as the UN. After all, it is merely a Communist front organization that was founded with the express purpose of destroying the United States and replacing it with a Soviet-style system of government.

From the Discover The Networks entry on the ACLU’s founder and longtime executive director:

Roger Baldwin

Reflecting on his early years as the ACLU’s [founder and] Executive Director, Baldwin candidly revealed his original motives and objectives: "I am for socialism, disarmament, and ultimately, for abolishing the state itself as an instrument of violence and compulsion. I seek social ownership of property, the abolition of the properties class, and sole control of those who produce wealth. Communism is the goal. It all sums up into one single purpose — the abolition of dog-eat-dog under which we live. I don’t regret being part of the communist tactic. I knew what I was doing. I was not an innocent liberal. I wanted what the communists wanted and I traveled the United Front road to get it."

Baldwin maintained an office in the United Nations after his retirement from the ACLU, working as a consultant for the International League for Human Rights. He died in 1981.

Naturally, the ACLU has the best interests of our country at heart. Just like the UN.

Steve, dingleBarry has figured out that he can bow, grovel and beg forgiveness in one fell swoop instead of one King here, one despot there.
Maybe some one should offer up a pair of knee pads and chap stick.

Barrak is steadily eroding away the Rights of Americans whilst feigning worry of the rights of those that have NONE!!
    What a boner.

I’ll be interested to see the reports of the other members. I’m sure that, according to them, the US will be the worst offender on the planet. I guess it’s OK to stone women in the street for allowing the sun to hit their faces, but if you can’t get an affordable (meaning that you don’t really HAVE to pay it back) home loan from one of those evil corporate banks in America it is a human rights travesty.

The OBlamer is running true to form yet again, and the media by ignoring it is as well. Welcome to the New America.

All you need to do is to keep uppermost in your mind that Dinglebarry is muslim. Keep repeating this to yourself until you can actually grasp that he’s not stupid at all – just muslim. He operates from the vantage point of islam in all he does, so this latest ‘report’ is just him being his deceitful self.

Look at who his friends are, who his allies on the world scene are and remember who he bows to: all of the traditional enemies.

And above all remember how he treated Netanyahu earlier this year – left him cooling his heels in an anteroom while The One went off to feed his face.

You don’t treat a traditional ally like this!

As for all the taxes? It’s the islamic way of enslaving a people: the poll tax, the jizya tax – break the will of a people through excessive taxation and then subjugate them completely.

“break the will of a people through excessive taxation and then subjugate them completely.”

Wasn’t that King George’s plan back in the 1700’s? How’d that work out?

Good point hushpuppy. I doubt that the American people would put up with it now, as they didn’t put up with it then.

  4. Natural Born Citizen says:

Who is on the UN human rights council? Saudia Arabia, Cuba, Pakistan etc… all upstanding countries with zero history of human rights violations.

  5. Mithrandir says:

IF YOU ARE WHITE, then if you are a victim of oh…voter intimidation, or mandatory hiring preferences, or ineligible for college loan forgiveness etc. nobody gives a crap about that.

Even the white police officers are EXTREMELY hesitant to call black on white crime…a hate crime. They don’t investigate, or think of creative ways to pretend it isn’t a hate crime.

    What gives!?

I thought the Hope ‘n’ Changey stuff was gonna make all this bad stuff go away!!!
