Obama And Family Finally Go To Church!

From USA Today:

Obama and family attend church service

September 19, 2010

President Obama and his family attended services this morning at St. John’s Church, which is on the other side of Lafayette Square from the White House.

St. John’s, often visited by presidents, is Episcopalian.

The visit comes a month after a Pew Research Center poll said that nearly one in five Americans erroneously believe Obama is a Muslim

We have always thought that all the talk about Obama being a Muslim was utter nonsense. Everyone knows that Muslims were staunchly anti-Communist, because Communists tend to be staunchly atheist.

The first family members all went up for communion, led by the president.

Had they gone to ‘confession’ earlier?

This is Obama’s third visit to St. John’s Church. He also attended services there on Jan. 20, 2009, just a few hours before his inauguration.

Here are some more details from the pool reporter, Louise Radnofsky of The Wall Street Journal:

The sermon also included some reflections on the story as an example of how "Jesus has a sense of humor… he also likes to shock us" and the extent to which "everyone has cut a corner or two."

Rev. Leon said that for him, an example was accepting a good citizenship award and $50 from the DAR in Rome, Georgia, when he was graduating high school there. "Now the problem was, I wasn’t a citizen," he said, prompting laughter from the congregation.

He was an illegal alien? What a beautiful story.

Rev. Leon also referenced "The Help", which he said he’d just finished reading, as an instance where three women in the 1960s south rise above what is expected of them by breaking the rules.

What an important thing to teach today. Certainly the major problem facing our society currently is the sheep-like way people insist on obeying every and all rules.

All four members of the family took communion when they went up to the altar.

Again, we would be curious to know when the Obamas did their confessions.

Sitting with the first family was Joshua Dubois, head of the White House faith and neighborhood partnerships office.

POTUS appeared to share a joke with the rector while leaving the church.

Clothing clarification: First lady was wearing a white dress with flowered pattern and light-colored jacket over it. Malia Obama was wearing a blue dress with flowered pattern and light-colored jacket over it.

Thank Allah that has been clarified.

    The punchline I remember,

“Shoot, goin’ to church don’t make a man a Christian any more than goin’ to a gun show makes him a killer”.

    Or something.

The Won is without sin, lest we forget.

Joking aside, Nerobama must be pretty desperate. I find it very telling that he doesn’t go to Church for Christmas, but can find the time to go for the elections. He always found the time to attend Rev. Wright’s church. Once Wright was outed for what he is and Nero couldn’t attend anymore, suddenly Nero can’t find another church [that preaches what he believes].

“The Won is without sin, lest we forget.”

I can’t remember where I read this, probably from an online Fox News item – but the first the Won did was to manually take down a portrait of Winston Churchill in the Oval office that was a gift to GWB after 9/11 and replace it with a cartoon of himself walking on water.

    • mr_bill says:

The Churchill bust was a gift from Tony Blair, given shortly after 9/11 in an expression of solidarity. You are correct, Nerobama did send it back almost immediately. I have no idea what he replaced it with, probably something more meaningful to him…like a portrait of Chairman Mao.

    • jobeth says:

In actuality, the Churchill bust was only on special loan to George Bush. It’s loan was graciously extended to Obalmy but of course he refused it…and later insulted the best ally we have with cheap gifts…probably bought from that dollar store the belle shops at…

      My husband told me this, and it is mentioned in this story why Churchill is not liked by Obalmy;

“It was during Churchill’s second premiership that Britain suppressed Kenya’s Mau Mau rebellion. Among Kenyans allegedly tortured by the colonial regime included one Hussein Onyango Obama, the President’s grandfather. ”

As an aside, I remember that Obalmy once said that HE gave better gifts than the Belle…Good grief…if she had given state gifts to the UK it probably would have been off the clearance shelf! And even then she would probably leave the “50% off” tag on it.

Those two are hopeless. NO class what so ever.

I’m just thankful we have a few adults in the UK who have enough faith in America to hold their tongue and just wait out the time he is in office. I think even they, with their socialist government, knew that Obalmy’s antics would be fought by the saner Americans.

  3. proreason says:

Just in time for the elections !

    Must be a coincidence.

  4. hushpuppy says:

    Big deal.

The Won admitted he only began attending ‘church’ in Chicago was to get needed ‘street cred’. That ‘church’ was no more christian than I am King of Florida.

Always remember the muslim doctrine of taqiya: to go to some building that has a religious sounding name doesn’t matter. It’s all for show. It’s all for votes, and all for islam.

  5. Petronius says:

My sermon today is taken from Matthew 25:8-9 :

And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.

But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.

    • jobeth says:

“Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools.”
      Romans 1:22

Could any verse better describe our dear leader?

Three times in nearly two years of hearing the Word, does not a Christian make…not even in his wildest dreams. WAY too little, WAY to late!

Ummm…I don’t know if he has a clue about the dim view God takes of someone who takes communion unworthily.

Protestants don’t confess to to the Priest, but we are to take stock of ourselves and confess our transgressions before God, before we partake of the Cup. To do otherwise is to bring God’s judgement on our self.

Ummmm, I don’t think I would want to be in his shoes…but then perhaps he suddenly realized he is in deep political doo-doo and this is his version of a ‘hail Mary’.

No, not so much before God…but the voters. Because we all know these Christians are really so stupid they could never out think the Won. We could never catch on he’s nothing but a phony.

He’s so stinkin’ transparent he’s almost not even there.
      Alas…I said ‘almost’.

  6. swee says:

Who believes in confession these days? I doubt that Obama has ever received the sacrament of penance (confession). Other than Catholics and Orthodox Greeks, who goes to confession these days? And even if Obama is “Christian,” he wouldn’t see a need for confession because most people, even Christians, believe ‘sins” (if such things exist) are between you and the man (or woman) upstairs. None of this face-to-face or confessional (enclosed stall in a church) “Bless me, Father, for I have sinned…” business.

  7. retire05 says:

Let me understand this; the man who ran on his “faith” and was pictured on Time Magazine about a dozen times with light surrounding his head in halo fashion, can now find time to attend church 20 months after he was inaugurated but only 8 weeks before the general election? Color me not impressed.

And who the hell picks out Michelle Antoinette’s clothes? A wall paper manufacturer? Upholsterer? Maybe someone should do her a favor and tell her that her taste in clothing does nothing for those thunder thighs.

    • jobeth says:

“And who the hell picks out Michelle Antoinette’s clothes?”

If this photo is of them going to church today , it truly looks like our belle wore the same parts of an outfit that she wore on the day she went to N.O. to speak about the oil leak…If you remember it was white with what looked like big black oil splotches all over it.

Looking at her daughter…it looks as if she is wearing the other half of that outfit.

Don’t we pay them to look better than that? I think she is shopping at the local Dollar store and squirreling away her budget $$ for when the “Won”…is the “Loser”. Even she feels the way the wind blows.

But whats gotten into me….According to the MSM, our Belle is leading the country in her fashion sense…just like Jackie K. I’m on my way to the Dollar store right now…see ya!

    • retire05 says:

Jobeth, the difference between you and Michelle Antoinette is that thanks to her husband, she can afford to shop somewhere beside the Dollar Store. Thanks to her husband, you can’t.

    • jobeth says:

      Hear! Hear!…

  8. canary says:

I think that’s a cute little hand gesture the little one is making towards the photogs.

This is probably the little ones first experience in learning of the God of our Nation.
No allahood weirdos eating & praying at the wh.
A God unlike the one they’ve been exposed to that hates white people & Jews.

May the true Spirit of God fill their little hearts. Let no one stand in the little ones way or
guide them down the wrong path. Bring them unto Him.

  9. Airmail56 says:

Prayer is the last refuge for the scoundrel!

  10. oki2 says:

I don’t know much about religion in general, is it necessary to attend confession before your communions?

    • jobeth says:

Depending on your own denomination you either “go” to confession, as in the confessional with a priest or as protestants do, get into prayer and confess your known transgressions before God…ask his forgiveness and then you may take communion.

Baptists include asking forgiveness of others and going to someone you may have offended or who may have offended you and making things right with them is included in the confessions.

Once you have cleared known offenses and asked forgiveness of both your ‘brother’ and God…you may take communion.

Basically you are to “cleanse” your spirit before communing with the perfect God. This is a very intimate moment for Christians in their relationship with God. Sin can not be a part of that communication, thus the request for Gods cleansing forgiveness first.

  11. oki2 says:

Thank you Jobeth. I think he was perhaps performing a kindness to the other worshippers then. They probably wouldn’t want to wait for him to confess all his sins.

    • jobeth says:

      Great point there oki2…lol

But perhaps he should have taken care of that before he took communion…not too sure God could commune through all that sin…lol.

And of course if he had confessed he may have had to start months ago…even longer. And it would have taken a loooong time to square it with all the folks he’s offended…lol

Does this mean he doesn’t have to read his tweets from those religious advisors who send him his Word of the Day to contemplate? D.a.m.a.g.e.c.o.n.t.r.o.l. On the other hand, perhaps he was inspired by the illegal alien angle. He’s planning with Harry to pass next week the DREAM act to give illegals free college educations and amnesty.

  14. Mithrandir says:

    As I have said before:

Radical communist mother + Islamic father + sitting in a bigot’s church for 20 years = good Christian?

Anne Coulter was right, he is not muslim, he has no religion at all, other than worshiping himself.

    • jobeth says:

I believe that is what Pro has been saying. And they may well be right, but even if they are, he is much more prone to support the muslims than Christians on any particular day or topic. And the communists rather than Free market capitalists.

Communist mom, muslim father and stepfather…the source of these strange bedfellows are the source of the problems we are having today with both…all wrapped up in the Won.

I understand Pros position (correct me Pro if I’ve misrepresented you) that Obalmy is an atheist, but I really do believe he is so pro-muslim that if he isn’t one in spirit he is one in mind…which at least to me is the same for all practical purposes

I really believe he may be trying to mesh these two diametrically different beliefs in his mind.

      Of course he can’t really.

Both may be totalitarian but communism does not tolerate any kind of religion and islam doesn’t tolerate any kind of atheism…or any other kind of faith for that matter. Both are arbitrary in their stances.

That can lead to some major confusion if you are tying to meld the two together.

    • proreason says:

Yes, he’s an athiest (or an agnostic….athiests deny the existance of God. Agnostics don’t believe in God, but don’t absolutely deny the existance of God. Agnostics basically say “how would I know?”). I don’t think there is much doubt about it. Christians don’t hide their religion. You can tell.

But jobeth is correct as well that he is a Muslim sympathizer. I call it “culturally Muslim” although I believe that exagerates the situation. Obviously, he isn’t flagrantly Muslim in public. I just think on any matter where he can sympathise with the Muslim perspective or the Christian perspective, it’s clear that he picks the Muslim perspective, every time. Similarly, he is culturally black. He always picks the African American side over the white American side. Similarly, he is culturally non-American. He always picks the side of people who hate Americans.

So we have a leader of the country who prefers Muslims over Christians, Blacks over Whites, and non-Americans over Americans. It isn’t even subtle. It isn’t even close. It should be plainly obvious to anybody who pays the slightest attention to what he does.

And of course, on economic issues, he always picks the Big Government / Marxist / Socialist / Fascist position over Free Markets / Capitalism. ALWAYS.

It’s really the most extraordinary thing you can imagine. It’s like working for a business owner who wants to get out of the business, so everything he does is designed to sabotage the enterprise. And YOU don’t have the option to get a new job either.

    • tranquil.night says:

One of Barack’s (and indeed the Left’s) most stalwart and cringe-worthy flaws is that he is never personally responsible for anything wrong, in fact he is always the victim. Through both his personal experience where he was allowed to excel without merit, and undoubtedly his long personal association with friends and rituals of the Islamic faith (which extols a vengeful philosophical view of life) and a solid education in the likes of Nietzche and Alinsky, he has honed this beta-male instinct from an impulsive habit to a premeditative strategy to a diabolical artform of governing malfeasance.

Barry only feels like a Moose-limb to us because of his personal history, and the fact that he views all his problems as a result of inequality or the predatory nature of others. We all certainly agree that he is sympathetic to their plight against us and Israel for those reasons, but also because it serves his ends to subvert and supplant the American and Western way. Other than that though, there is no loyalty to any spiritual dogma of faith. It’s unnecessary unless it’s politically necessary. He’s above all that – the religious institutions are all just pieces on his chessboard to play off one another. The elites study all religious philosophies and take what they like from where they like and then call themselves culturally and intellectually sophisticated.

They usually end up an agnostic, atheist, or deist, which is inconsequential to distinguish because whether God exists or not in their world is irrelevant because there’s no such thing as the traditional definition of good or evil. Those are for people, societies, and especially the evolutionarily superior ruling elites to define. That’s the natural order of human progress – which Satanists like Anton LaVey say that structured religion stunts.

Philosophically speaking, I once again submit that both Barack’s personal lifestyle and public decisions as president are in sync with LaVeyan Satanism. Although LaVey thought people that always played the victim were fundamentally weak (he called them Psychic Vampires), everything else – from “I am my own God” to indulgence over abstinence to the fundamental case for embracing might, power, and carnal instincts over selfless sacrifice and personal responsibility (“selfish deprivation”) – is right there in plain lettering. I’m not talking about sitting in a circle of power and doing some High School Wicca, because everyone knows there’s no such thing as real magic – but there is such a thing as lies, illusions.. mind-control.

“The change in situations or events in accordance with one’s will, which would, using normally accepted methods, be unchangeable.” – LaVey’s definition of magic.

Hasn’t everything Barack essentially done going right back to winning the presidency been as a result of molding some trumped up crisis and then bending the rules and everyone who resists him until it comforms to his will?

Let us not forget as well that Rules for Radicals was dedicated to none other than the Dark Lord. http://sweetness-light.com/archive/hillary-clintons-idol-saul-alinsky-and-satan

As an aside, I was took a look at the link TN provided and then went looking for a web page that would quote the dedication in “Rules for Radicals”

      First page I looked a (2008) blogger quoted…Rush of course…but then S&L!

Just thought you might find it interesting. Be proud!

Reading further the comment made I reference to seemed to create a bit of an argument with a poster who seem to be another “community organizer” who read Alinsky in school.

Oddly it was a in a “World News” forum…but she seemed to take offence at “opinion”….Sigh….oh well.

Anyone who believes that this move is anything more than a show for the cameras is delusional. I’ve been listening to pundits all over the MSM telling Obie for weeks that his best “political” move would be to find a church. That advice in itself makes me sick, but it shows where Obie’s faith really is. In the media and in his own ability to deceive.

“Look for a church so that the great unwashed will believe you are a Christian.” I guess he looked as far as across the street and said, “Well at least we won’t have to walk too far.” I seriously doubt that he heard any more in this church than he claims to have heard in Wright’s church. This move is simply a show for the simple. So most of his followers will hail this as proof of his Christian values. I say S.O.S.D.D.

    • jobeth says:

Bet the soles of his shoes were burning the moment he stepped into the church. And his butt while sitting in the pew.

I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if he didn’t take latest electronic toy in with him to keep his tiny mind busy while the pastor was saying things that were too far above his ability to understand.

We give our little ones coloring books to keep them quiet during a service…or send them to children’s church…but he’s too tall for that.

  17. Chase says:

This could be a telling week. Going to church might bring a big change in things…or be a harbinger of further attacks on our society.

It all depends on his mood following any impact to his tee time.

  18. amber says:

Episcopal churches do not have confessionals or even talk about confession. I was raise Episcopal and I left because it is not rooted in any concrete truths except, if it makes you feel uncomfotable, we will change the rules. There is no fixed point in that denomination, it is known as “the church of compromise” in our household.

    • Petronius says:

Amber, I recall the words of the Protestant hymn, “Faith of Our Fathers,” which we learned by heart in our childhood. The stirring second stanza, which hearkened back to the sufferings of our refugee Huguenot ancestors, went like this:

Our fathers, chained in prisons dark,

Were still in heart and conscience free:

How sweet would be their children’s fate

If they, like them, could die for Thee!

Now read the second stanza as it has been rewritten in current Episcopal hymnals :

Faith of our fathers, faith and prayer

      Shall win all nations unto thee;

And through the truth that comes from God,

Mankind then shall indeed be free.

The title remains the same, but it is a different hymn with a different message, and, one is tempted to add, a different religion for a different people.

  19. Reality Bytes says:

Episcopal! Of Course. Gay friendly & overwhelmingly attended by typical white persons (just like grandma).

Remember former governor (& turnpyke queen) Jim McGreevy is currently servicing as one of their “outreach” (I bet) ministers.

Boy! When Jesus comes back, what’s He gonna say about all this?

    • proreason says:

Episcopalian. The religion athiests choose to cover their butts just in case God really does exist.

It is a sad day in America – when apparently no one in DC (Powell – I have illegals all over my place, bet you do too) and in the msm – gives a damn about the American citizen at all.
