Axelrod Stands Firm On The Public Option

From the Politico:

Axelrod: Firm on public option

By: Mike Allen
September 6, 2009

White House senior adviser David Axelrod tells POLITICO that the administration is not dialing back its support for a public health-insurance option as part of a reform bill, and that a comment he made on NBC’s “Meet the Press” was misinterpreted.

Axelrod told NBC’s David Gregory that President Barack Obama “certainly agrees that we have to have competition and choice, to hold the insurance companies honest. … He believes the public option is a good tool. Now, it shouldn’t define the whole health-care debate, however.”

The Associated Press, which often sets the agenda for how other news organizations cover Sunday shows, popped up a headline saying: “White House shifts on public health care option". The story’s lead: "WASHINGTON (AP) – President Barack Obama’s top political adviser is backing away from having a government health care plan compete against private carriers.”

Axelrod disputed that interpretation in an e-mail.

“In no way did I back off our position,” he wrote. “I must have said half a dozen times that he thinks the public option is an important tool to bring about competition and choice that will help consumers. To say that it is not the whole of health insurance reform, in a country where 160 million people have employer-sponsored health insurance and would not even be affected by this, does not mean I am backing off!” …

Well, it doesn’t get any more straight from the horse’s mouth, than from Mr. Axelrod.

Unless of course it comes from Mr. Soros himself.

The Associated Press, which often sets the agenda…

The hell you say!

By the way, ever wonder how the most brilliant administration in this nation’s history succeeds in putting out misleading talking points every weekend without fail?

It’s almost as if they don’t know what they are doing.

But, what’s worse, they probably do.

They have 8,000 holes in the health care dam and he puts his finger in one hole. Standing firm won’t stop the dam from collapsing.
Barry has surrounded himself with total idiots, criminals, commies and losers of the Nth degree!

““I must have said half a dozen times that he thinks the public option is an important tool…”

He (Barry) thinks HE’s an important tool. He doesn’t realize he’s just a ‘tool’.

If you get enough “information” out there, whether or not it’s contradictory, I guess sooner or later people will hear what they want. It’s entirely plausible strategy with a media that won’t bother to point out the confounding amount of double talk.

      good point, nm

The Moron regularly and deliberately says contradictory things. Later, he wheels out the one he needs for his current audience, knowing that only people who think he’s a menace will check for accuracy.

For those with no integrity whatsoever, it’s a good strategy.

  4. It’s off the table, it’s on the table, then it’s off and on again… Geez Barry, make up your ever changing mind. My 15 year old was more decisive about her prom dress.

Reality check: You have lost the trust of seniors. They are not going to trust you again. They have been a larger and more loyal constituency than even trial lawyers. The picture of some Van Jones-quality bureaucrat looking at their quality of life quotient to decide if it is time to put them down like old Rover is burned deeply into their brains. Unless you come up with a real reform (Hint:tort reform, end of insurance mandates, more competition and measures to end fraud in present system), your goose is cooked.

The rest of your presidency will be spent doing historic this or that – but nothing real. Forget cap & trade and immigration reform. Republicans will certainly take the house in 2010. African-Americans will start disavowing you as a real black man.

Start picking out your library spot. And you better start sending mellow vibes to next president Palin. I know you hope she will not be appointing John Ashcroft as special counsel to investigate your take-over hijinks – the way you are investigating Cheney and the CIA. Don’t pinch me – this dream is just too damn good!

When does the statute of limitations run out on Tony Revco? That deal you made with the unions – will it stand real prosecutorial scrutiny? And Guv Blaggo – are you or Rahm on any of those tapes? Will Rahm roll over on you if he gets his nuts in a vice. I suspect so.

I am guessing that you effete Harvard snots don’t do well in prison.

I disagree. Drooling Barney, Fairy Princess Emanuelle, good Daddy (wink wink) Obama. Oh I think they will have a lot of close personal friends in prison.

You have to remember this whole health care thing is not about health care or money at all. It is about controling people through controling health care. That is what you need to be very afraid of! Don’t be fooled or be as Joseph Stalin called those who put him in power, “useful idiots”.

  6. canary says:

    dumb people.

    proof Obama voters were racist.

Obama is going to put gas in my car and pay my mortgage

Obamies can’t name anything Obama has done
