Obama Buys Blue Dog With Judgeship?

From an irony-proof MSNBC:

Thanking Blue Dogs and twisting arms

From NBC’s Mark Murray

March 3, 2010

Later this afternoon, President Obama hosts a reception at the White House thanking members of Congress for their efforts to pass pay-as-go (PAYGO) legislation — something congressional Blue Dogs have championed.

Mind you, this is just one day after Senator Bunning was excoriated for actually trying to enforce ‘PAYGO.’ Yes, Mr. Obama and the Democrats are that shameless.

But note how NBC does not even bother to mention their outrageous hypocrisy.

And as we mentioned earlier this morning, don’t be surprised if the president tries to twist some arms on health care.

The White House has released a list of the 31 senators and members of Congress who will be attending. As it turns out, 10 of the House members attending voted against the health-care legislation that passed last year: Jason Altmire (PA), Allan Boyd (FL), Lincoln Davis (TN), Stephanie Herseth-Sandlin (SD), Frank Kratovil (MD), Betsy Markey (CO), Jim Matheson (UT), Scott Murphy (NY), Heath Shuler (NC), and John Tanner (TN).

Sixteen House members attending this afternoon — including Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Majority Leader Steny Hoyer — voted for the bill.

And all five senators attending voted for the Senate bill that passed on Christmas Eve, but would probably be needed on a reconciliation vote: Mark Begich (AK), Michael Bennet (CO), Kent Conrad (ND), Claire McCaskill (MO), and Arlen Specter (PA).

Of course being the champion of honest leadership, open government ‘machine politics’ that he is, Mr. Obama did just “twist arms.”

He gave bribes.

Behold this concomitant press release from The White House:

President Obama Nominates Scott M. Matheson, Jr. to the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit

March 03, 2010

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, President Obama nominated Scott M. Matheson, Jr. to the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.  Matheson currently holds the Hugh B. Brown Presidential Endowed Chair at the S.J. Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah.

“Scott Matheson is a distinguished candidate for the Tenth Circuit court,” President Obama said.  “Both his legal and academic credentials are impressive and his commitment to judicial integrity is unwavering.  I am honored to nominate this lifelong Utahn to the federal bench.” …

Coincidentally, Mr. Scott Matheson just happens to be the brother of the aforementioned Representative Jim Matheson, whose vote is now desperately needed to force ‘reconciliation’ through the House.

Mr. Obama could give Hugo Chavez ‘tinhorn dictator’ lessons.

Still, just imagine the media’s outrage if Mr. Bush had… (You know the drill.)

On the Chicago Corruption Scale, this ranks as a 2. It’s kind of like stealing a pack of gum from the corner grocery.

I am shocked to find that a Chicagoan would buy votes by abusing his/her power!

    Oh! Wait!
I am only shocked that the media would even mention the possibility of impropriety.

BTW, the picture of Harry Reid with his hands folded over his (tiny) heart makes me pine for the future where he is lying in repose.

Welcome to New Kenya … or is it New Indonesia?

The founders wanted us to have a republic. I doubt they meant a banana republic.

So he gave the guy a judgeship, big deal, just a drop in a bucket.
Once the voting gets really close, Biden and Hillary had better watch out.
Who knows, when push comes to shove, Michelle might be replaced.
In this administration, anything is negotiable if the price is right.
