Obama Pronounces Islam A Great Religion

From his fellow defenders of the faith at the Associated Press:

Obama hosts dinner for Islamic holy month

By ANN SANNER (AP)

September 1, 2009

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama on Tuesday praised American Muslims for enriching the nation’s culture at a dinner to celebrate the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

"The contribution of Muslims to the United States are too long to catalog because Muslims are so interwoven into the fabric of our communities and our country," Obama said at the iftar, the dinner that breaks the holiday’s daily fast.

The president joined Cabinet secretaries, members of the diplomatic corps and lawmakers to pay tribute to what he called "a great religion and its commitment to justice and progress."

Attendees included Congress’ two Muslim members — Reps. Keith Ellison and Andre Carson as well as ambassadors from Islamic nations and Israel’s ambassador to the United States, Michael Oren…

Obama has made a special effort since taking office to repair U.S. relations with the world’s Muslims, including visits to Turkey and Cairo. In a June speech at the Egyptian capital, as well as in one to another important Muslim audience, in Turkey, Obama said: "America is not — and never will be — at war with Islam."

Obama also released a video message to Muslims before the start to Ramadan. In the video, he said Ramadan’s rituals are a reminder of the principles Muslims and Christians have in common, including advancing justice, progress, tolerance and the dignity of all human beings.

Perhaps Mr. Obama has a point.

After all, “when a felon’s not engaged in his employment, or maturing his felonious little plans, his capacity for innocent enjoyment is just as great as any honest man’s.”

The only problem is Mohammedans consider Islam their sole employment.

And, contrary to Mr. Obama’s pretenses, Islam qua Islam has nothing to do with “advancing justice, progress, tolerance and the dignity of all human beings.”

Alas, it is dedicated to exactly the opposite.

Would that it were not.

Obama Praises Islam as ‘Great Religion’

President says Islam is “part of America,” hails the religion’s “commitment to justice and progress”

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama on Tuesday praised American Muslims for enriching the nation’s culture at a dinner to celebrate the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

Obama shared the story of Bilqis Abdul-Qaadir, another invited guest, who broke a state record for most career points as a Massachusetts high school student.

“As an honor student, as an athlete on her way to Memphis, Bilqis is an inspiration not simply to Muslim girls — she’s an inspiration to all of us,” he said.

Obama also noted the contributions of Muhammad Ali, who was not in attendance, though the president borrowed a quote from famous boxer, explaining religion.

“A few years ago,” Obama said, “he explained this view — and this is part of why he’s The Greatest — saying, ‘Rivers, ponds, lakes and streams — they all have different names, but they all contain water. Just as religions do — they all contain truths.”‘ …

“Justice and Progress” – just ask any Muslim female who dares to show her face or body.

Name one thing Barry ….. just one; that Mooselims have contributed to the fabric of America.

      I can!
Mosques that preach hatred towards America, the great Satan.
      OOPS …… on second thought …. maybe I can’t!!
      (and neither can DingleBarry Bozo)

The ignorance of this is astounding. Even if I give him the benefit of the doubt and assume that this is just a PR thing, it is just naive to think that this is going to get any real play in ME.

  3. proreason says:

And it IS a great religion………for someone who prefers eliminating the opposition over persuading them.

-To me, this is mocking Christianity. While we may not technically be a Christian nation (for which I am grateful, theocracies are doomed to failure), Christianity has played an undeniable (though liberals will try) role in our history.

“A few years ago,” Obama said, “he explained this view — and this is part of why he’s The Greatest — saying, ‘Rivers, ponds, lakes and streams — they all have different names, but they all contain water. Just as religions do — they all contain truths.”

-Not even Muslims believe this non-sense. While we may grant that most religions contain a speck of truth, almost every religion (and in particular Islam and Christianity) insists on being the only bearer of all truth. Which only makes sense, unless you have the only path, what’s the point?

““The contribution of Muslims to the United States are too long to catalog because Muslims are so interwoven into the fabric of our communities and our country,”

This comment is so nonsensical, it’s laugable.

It may be what the Moron would like to see happen, but it’s the equivalent of claiming that Zoroasterism is “interwoven” into the fabric of our communities.

    • Liberals Demise says:

      Wanna talk about Muslim contributions?
Look at what they contributed to Lower Manhattan.

      Peace be with you……….
      (yea, yea…..fetch my iron!!)

  6. Rusty Shackleford says:

Tell me he didn’t touch her.

Isn’t that forbidden? Forbidden by a “great religion”.

  7. DW says:

Lest we forget, nearly two years ago the US House of Representatives passed a motion 376-0 recognizing Ramadan and expressing “the deepest respect to Muslims in the United States and throughout the world”.

The details are here in an S&L scoop from October of 2007:
    http://sweetness-light.com/archive/happy-day-house-passes-ramadan-resolution

Obama isn’t exactly breaking new ground here. For quite a while now, he’s had people walking point for him – 376 of them to be precise.

    (Representatives…?)

  8. DGA says:

“…Attendees included Congress’ two Muslim members — Reps. Keith Ellison and Andre Carson….”
Ahh, the missing Andre Carson, the “Rep” from my area. Had wondered what had happened to him, he must have been hiding out in Washington, must have never came home after all the faxes I sent him demanding he host a townhall meeting here. And I was under the assumption tha the very title, “Representative” meant that he is supposed to represent us, the taxpayer. Stupid me. Oh, and he keeps the fact that he is a muslim very quiet.

  9. Not Always Right says:

The proper way to finish “The contribution of Muslims to the United States are too long to catalog ….” is to add “because anything I would catalog would be a total lie and as I have proven over and over to my fellow Americans, I can lie all day and most of the night!”

  10. catie says:

    This is ridiculous.

  11. 12 Gauge Rage says:

Our ‘enlightened leader’ is forgetting that some Muslims could care less if it is Ramadan. They’ll commit an act of violence against a fellow Muslim regardless that it’s Islam’s holiest month. A truly great religion doesn’t harm it’s followers if they disagree on a few points. During my lifetime I’ve yet to see true believing Christians kill one another during Christmas or Easter. Nothing against the Islamic faith but I can recall from memory more achievements in our country that came from the Christian community and from Non-Christian people who still held to a set of basic morals.

  12. MinnesotaRush says:

“WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama on Tuesday praised American Muslims for enriching the nation’s culture at a dinner to celebrate the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.”

National Prayer Breakfast – ixnay for o-blah-blah! Cover the Christian symbols at the speaking event for the o-blah-blah.

But praise those muslims “for enriching the nation’s culture” … my ass!!!

This phony is a trojan horse .. a fraud; and a dangerous one, too!

  13. beautyofreason says:

I’m pretty sick of our president turning his office into a pulpit to preach in favor of Islam. We didn’t elect him to whitewash Wahhabism while ducking out of National Prayer day.

Whatever happened to the separation of church and state on the left? I guess mosques don’t count.
