Obama-Care’s Been Amended/Delayed 19 Times

From the Washington Times:

Obamacare has been amended or delayed 19 times: study

By Stephen Dinan | September 11, 2013

President Obama has already signed 14 laws that amend, rescind or otherwise change parts of his health care law, and he’s taken five independent steps to delay the Affordable Care Act on his own, according to a new report from the Congressional Research Service, released Wednesday…

But if anyone suggests defunding it, they are told ‘it is the law of the land and cannot be changed.’ It is inviolate and sacrosanct.

CRS, in the report to Sen. Tom Coburn, said all sides have already agreed to 14 laws that changed parts of Obamacare, though they were usually minor changes or clarifications.

The ink from Mr. Obama’s signature on the original law was barely dry when, a month later, Congress made the first change, specifying eligibility for veterans who are part of TRICARE. The point was to make sure the law recognized that coverage as meeting the individual mandate. Over the next two years, Congress regularly tweaked those kinds of eligibility requirements.

But CRS said Mr. Obama and Congress also made some bigger changes, including repealing what all sides agreed to be a burdensome income reporting tax on small businesses, repeatedly dipping into provisions of Obamacare to use money for other spending.

Those cuts included $6.25 billion from Prevention and Public Health and recapturing some of the money that was expected to be overpaid in subsidies to users of the health exchanges.

Mr. Obama has also acted on his own, declaring five separate delays this year. Most recently he announced one-year delays on checking the applicants for exchanges to see if they should have employer-based coverage.

And there is a thread that runs through all of the major changes Obama has done on his own. They all serve to drive more people into Obama-Care as quickly as possible. In order to make it too big to fail be repealed.

  1. How does he have the power to change a law that was passed by congress without congress voting to make those changes? That is unconstitutional, but he gets away with it because the GOP lets him get away with it. Where are the lawsuits? Where is the push back? All I hear are my ringing ears!

    Noyz – those are crickets

    • Nah….that’s 25 years using a skill saw and working in the construction business, target shooting without ear protection and years playing in a band. Non-stop! 24/7, loud as hell, ringing. The ear Dr. says it’s my brain making up for the deafness of a certain pitch and range. Constant, 24/7, non-stop. I don’t listen to music anymore except the occasional classical orchestra on DISH’s Classic Arts Showcase. It all sounds like crap to me now.

same here, years of construction, no ear plugs when shooting.etc.
so would that explain the Voices too?

    • lmao…you too huh? Most people don’t understand how absolutely incredibly insane this is making me….well, maybe you people here have noticed…..lol.

It’s amazing how this little tribe we have here at S&L seem to have plenty in common aside from our political preferences.

Me, too. My tinnitus suddenly started one day about ten years ago, loud in both ears (tho right ear is worse), and in all that time has never gone away –– not for a single second.

One of the most annoying things is that the ringing in my ears masks or confuses certain other sounds, such as a telephone or voices, particularly high-pitched female voices.

Wife, daughters, et al. sometimes grow frustrated with me when I can’t understand certain words they speak. After a while you just nod your head helpfully adding a “Is that so?” or “Imagine that!” or “You don’t say?”

Former first lady Rosalyn Carter, by the way, has been a tireless campaigner on behalf of the American Tinnitus Association.

    • Mine statred, or got worse, in 1992 after I shot a .357 mag out of the passenger window of my truck, and hit the stop sign pole, which exploded, collapsed and fell next to a rather alarmed black youth who was calling me unflattering names and slapped the hood of my truck because I honked the horn at him and his buddies. They were walking in the middle of the street when a perfectly good, taxpayer funded, sidewalk was available for their ingress and egress. They didn’t wait for my verbal reply. Within about three seconds of the shot they were about 50 yards away and growing smaller in my vision.

BTW- A deputy visited my home the next day to display the county’s disapproval of my treatment of state property. Didn’t mention the youth…… I took my hole-diggers, a 10′ treated 4×4 and my ratchet set and replaced the states pole and attached the undamaged sign. Never heard another word about it. Especially from the youth.

The ringing didn’t really bother me until the last ten years. I only used to hear it in very quiet rooms or at night trying to sleep. So i began sleeping with the fan running or the TV on the sleep timer in order to drown it out. That’s doesn’t work anymore…every year it gets louder and more frustrating.

There is no cure and the medicine they sale at the pharmacy that claims to work is BS, according to my Dr., but I didn’t buy it because it’s instructions for use say it could take up to 6 months before you notice any, if at all, results. Well hell, i’m not buying your $30 a month product to find out $180 later that it doesn’t work!

On the bright side, my brother pointed out that you can get disability for it now. Who knew?

    “grow frustrated with me …”
looks like a lot of that is going around.

    thanks for diagnosis,
so all this time it was the Wife’s far away voice.
