Obama Closing Border Patrol Stations In 4 States

From Fox News:

Closure of Border Patrol stations across four states triggers alarm

By Judson Berger | July 10, 2012

The Obama administration is moving to shut down nine Border Patrol stations across four states, triggering a backlash from local law enforcement, members of Congress and Border Patrol agents themselves.

But no interest from the news media, since this seems to be the only report about this development.

Critics of the move warn the closures will undercut efforts to intercept drug and human traffickers in well-traveled corridors north of the U.S.-Mexico border.

This will also make it easier for guns to cross the border. So it’s a win for the Obama administration all around.

Though the affected stations are scattered throughout northern and central Texas, and three other states, the coverage areas still see plenty of illegal immigrant activity — one soon-to-be-shuttered station in Amarillo, Texas, is right in the middle of the I-40 corridor; another in Riverside, Calif., is outside Los Angeles.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection says it’s closing the stations in order to reassign agents to high-priority areas closer to the border.

"These deactivations are consistent with the strategic goal of securing America’s borders, and our objective of increasing and sustaining the certainty of arrest of those trying to enter our country illegally," CBP spokesman Bill Brooks said in a statement. "By redeploying and reallocating resources at or near the border, CBP will maximize the effectiveness of its enforcement mandate and align our investments with our mission."

It sounds like the Obama administration is trying to make it easier for illegal aliens. Once they get through the border they are ‘home free,’ and have nothing further to worry about.

But at least one Border Patrol supervisor in Texas has called on local officers to "voice your concerns" to elected officials, warning that the "deactivation" will remove agents from the Texas Panhandle, among other places. Several members of Congress have asked Border Patrol Chief Michael Fisher to reconsider the plan. And local officials are getting worried about what will happen once the Border Patrol leaves town, since they rely on those federal officials to assist in making immigration arrests.

"It could impact us tremendously since we’ve only got two agents up here now for 26 counties," Potter County Sheriff Brian Thomas told FoxNews.com.

If they are relying on federal officials to arrest illegal aliens they have a long wait. Thanks to Obama’s orders to no longer enforce our immigration laws.

Potter County, in the Texas Panhandle, would be affected by the planned closure of the Amarillo station. Thomas said that while his area is far from the border, it’s still a major "corridor" for illegal immigrants — and he said his office depends on Border Patrol to respond to their calls.

"I can’t hold a carload of people out there on I-40 for eight hours while somebody comes from El Paso," he said. "I mean, that’s just crazy." …

And, if Obama has his way, the Border Patrol agents won’t even answer any phone calls for help.

Lawmakers have started to get involved. Republican Rep. Mac Thornberry, who represents Amarillo, joined two other Texas lawmakers whose districts would be affected in asking the Border Patrol chief to "reconsider the proposal."

A letter sent Tuesday to Fisher warned the plan would "leave our area vulnerable." They noted that the Amarillo and Lubbock stations alone, two of those affected, accounted for 638 apprehensions of illegal immigrants just this year.

Which could be the real problem. Obama can’t allow so many ‘un-documented Democrats’ to be arrested after they have gotten a few miles into the country.

Once they make it across the border illegals should be allowed to live in peace, at least until they are convicted of a major felony.

FAIR also blasted the Obama administration for the plans.

"It’s part of the systematic dismantling of both border and interior enforcement," Dane told FoxNews.com. "It complements the non-enforcement policy of this administration."

No kidding. That is obviously the plan.

The stations set for closure in about six months include six in Texas. They are in: Lubbock, Amarillo, Dallas, San Angelo, Abilene and San Antonio. The other three are in Billings, Mont.; Twin Falls, Idaho; and Riverside, Calif

Of course, given Obama’s attitude, you have to wonder why we bother to have any Border Patrol agents.

This bastard needs to impeached NOW!

Well, we probably could get away with shutting down the ones in Montana and Idaho, to be fair. Provided of course that anyone believes that they will relocate or re-allocate the agents or money to the southern border states. Somehow this seems unlikely to me though,

I am reminded of two guys I worked with when I was active duty Air Force. As young men are wont to do, we dug cars. In the 80’s, there were programs that would allow us young guys in our twenties the opportunity to get cars that were a little out of reach for people who earned the same wages, with special offers and credit unions with lower interest rates. Plus, that re-enlistment bonus money helped a lot.

Well, one guy bought himself a pretty nifty Japanese sporty-type car. Nothing really fancy but very nice. Very well-equipped. One of the other guys, liking the car so much, set out to get one just like it and did so.

Over the next three years, it was interesting to see the two cars age. But let’s digress a minute and talk about the respective owners. The first guy was kind of anal. He washed his car every week, kept it waxed, treated it with great care, having come from a background where you did the work required to take care of your things.

The other guy was lazy, his uniform always looked like crap, he wasn’t very bright and had the propensity to use duct tape as the universal repair tool. So you can see where this is going.

After only three years, the two cars looked remarkably different. The first guy’s car still looked brand new. The second guy’s car ran like crap, had one mirror held on with duct-tape and the tires were all bald. The paint was scratched on the roof and the hood from putting stuff on top of it and sitting on it, also providing dents. The interior upholstery had rips and wreaked of cigarette smoke and the AC no longer worked. Odd, since it was still under some form of warranty, or, at least I thought so.

So the analogy is that sure, Obama inherited something. Not the “bad economy” not, “two wars”, etc. He inherited, or more accurately was given the keys to, a nice, shiny, functioning nation and he has proceeded to scratch it up, rip the upholstery and make it smell of cigarette smoke. Meanwhile, he blames others for this. But he did talk about “driving the nation into a ditch” and “getting out and push”-ing. Did he not?

By his actions ye shall know him.

    Ghetto-trash, doing what ghetto-trash does.

  4. AcornsRNutz says:

Very well funded ghetto trash though, for some still unexplained reason.

  5. Petronius says:

Ronald Reagan : “A nation without borders is not a nation.”

But hear the roar of the late, great Ted “the Liberal Lion” Kennedy : “The age of borders is over.” Yes, thank you for that insight, Ted. Axiomatic. Brilliant.

You see, nothing can stop the decline once the will-to-live is gone.

    Going, going, gone.

    That’s the Rio Grande message.

It’s been the message of everything American for decades now, but along the borderlands the message is deafening.

The message has been heard at the Border Patrol stations in Texas and California. It’s been heard in the governor’s mansion in Phoenix, Arizona. (Phoenix … hmmm? Will some remnant of America arise from the ashes? Don’t count on it; nothing can stop the decline once the will-to-live is gone.) It’s been heard in the halls of Congress. It’s been heard in the Department of Homeland Security. It’s been heard in the White House. In Mexico City, Moscow, Beijing, Islamabad, Damascus, and everywhere else in the world.

And what are our leaders –– whose leaders?! –– their leaders? –– do we still have any leaders? –– going to do about it? Nothing!

No, nothing can stop it now –– certainly not the neo-cons. They’re really no different from any of the others, just as clueless, just as masochistic.

Entrenched in their houses, expensive and über-expensive, in Georgetown, Great Falls, Potomac, Chevy Chase, Kennebunkport, Crawford, and Preston Hollow, surrounded by their toys, they still can’t avoid the message. Going, going, gone. And the little voice nagging: “What are you going to do about it?” And the petulant little answer, all in secret, of course : “Nothing!” And then the empty little scrotums tightening in fearful anticipation. I honestly believe they want what’s coming. They’re so masochistic they have to want the ultimate thrill in that line –– being beaten and kicked about by their barbarian conquerors. They can’t wait. They, too, have imbibed the Liberal Death Wish.

They want the entire population of Mexico, and say we’d be a better, more diverse country for it. The Liberal Death Wish is triumphant.

Down to the Banana Republics, things aren’t as warm as they seem
None of the natives are buying any second-hand American dreams.

Yes, welcome to America. But don’t drink the water. Headless corpses floating a few miles upstream.

Yes, and whose country is this anyway? Apparently not ours. There was a time when it was ours. But our time has passed.

    Going, going, gone.

No more of those violent Tea Party racists. No more of those pesky, pasty-skinned, old weepies with their lean-and-hungry look, with their turkey necks, billed caps, and yellow rattlesnake flags. Nope. We’re going to replace them all with a new constituency. With constituents who are more compliant, more corruptible, more amenable to following orders. With new voters who lack allegiance to America, who lack the will to self-reliance and self-responsibility, who aren’t afraid of more debt and taxes, who lack any outdated notions about private property (but then it’s our property we’re talking about, not theirs). And of course we’re especially keen on those who don’t think too much, because we must insource more fodder for the teachers’ unions. Yes, come on in boys, there’s plenty of room at the trough.

And even if it stops tomorrow –– one way would be if Putin or our Chinese creditors decided to make a run for complete control –– it wouldn’t change anything, just postpone matters. Because nothing can stop the decline once the will-to-live is gone. The white inertia would finally defeat even the Russians and Chinese.

Just ask the gentlemen of the press. You know, those folks who have refused to print this article and who have covered up for Nerobama for years. Just ask Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Incompetano (Security? Ha!) Just ask Justice Sonia “the Shredder” Sotomayor. Or Chief Justice John “I-can-be-reached” Roberts. They all agree : Going, going, gone.

Yes, we remember Charles Grassley : “We need to increase legal immigration to stop illegal immigration.” Yes, that will certainly fix the problem. Three million legals annually is not nearly enough. Thanks, Chuck. Axiomatic. Brilliant.

We remember John “comprehensive-reform” McCain, Lindsay Grahamnesty, the two Sisters of Charity, Arlen Specter, Alan Simpson, and all the rest of them.

But best of all we remember the divine Nerobama, godlike in his glistening pectorals. America’s first international president. America’s first explicit, in-your-face, class-warfare, race-warfare, anti-American president. America’s first tyrant-dictator.

Yes, he is the first. But there will be others to follow.

Because nothing can stop the decline once the will-to-live is gone.

Your comments about Teddy are amusing since we can readily assume he in fact headed “south” of the etherial border upon his departure.

      Great post Petronius!

I have to agree with your analysis. It makes me sad for my daughter’s future. The America she inherits will be vastly different from the one we knew.
