Obama Wants To Silence His Opponents

From those erstwhile champions of free speech, the Associated Press:

Obama takes direct aim at anti-government rhetoric

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – President Barack Obama took aim Saturday at the angry rhetoric of those who denigrate government as "inherently bad" and said their off-base line of attack ignores the fact that in a democracy, "government is us."

Obama used his commencement speech at the University of Michigan to respond to foes who portray government as oppressive and tyrannical — and to warn that overheated language can signal extremists that "perhaps violence is … justifiable." …

He did say that debates about the size and role of government are as old as the republic itself.

"But what troubles me is when I hear people say that all of government is inherently bad," said Obama, who received an honorary doctor of laws degree. "When our government is spoken of as some menacing, threatening foreign entity, it ignores the fact that in our democracy, government is us." …

Except when Mr. Obama decides to override the expressed will of the majority of the people. Which, is to say, all of the time.

The government is “him.”

The financial meltdown dramatically showed the dangers of too little government, he said, "when a lack of accountability on Wall Street nearly led to the collapse of our entire economy." …

What an outrageous lie. The financial meltdown was primarily caused by banks having to give mortgages to people they knew would not be able to pay them back.

The banks were forced to due this because of Congress’s ‘Community Reinvestment Act,” which was financial regulation.

The collapse was the direct cause of too much government meddling, not from the lack of it.

Obama urged both sides in the political debate to tone it down. "Throwing around phrases like ‘socialists’ and ‘Soviet-style takeover,’ ‘fascists’ and ‘right-wing nut’ — that may grab headlines," he said. But it also "closes the door to the possibility of compromise…

How about calling Tea Party supporters “tea baggers” and giving them the finger? Should that be toned down, or is that all right because he does it?

"At its worst, it can send signals to the most extreme elements of our society that perhaps violence is a justifiable response."

Again with the finger.

Passionate rhetoric isn’t new, he acknowledged. Politics in America, he said, "has never been for the thin-skinned or the faint of heart. … If you enter the arena, you should expect to get roughed up." …

Again, what a laugh. Mr. Obama and his minions cry racism and revolution whenever he gets the slightest criticism.

Indeed, just like France’s King Louis XIV, it’s clear that Mr. Obama thinks “L’etat c’est moi.” That any criticism of his policies of him, is criticism of the state – outright sedition.

The president’s appearance in Michigan — a battleground in the 2008 White House race that’s likely to play a big role in the fall congressional campaign…

The campaigning never stops. Meanwhile, responsible governing has never quite gotten going.

Obama’s speech was the first of four he is giving this commencement season.

On May 9, he’ll speak at Hampton University, a historically black college in Hampton, Va., founded in 1868 on the grounds of a former plantation…

Just imagine the outrage if Mr. Bush has ever given a commencement address at an all white college?

But as we have oft noted, if it weren’t for double standards, the left would have no standards at all.

This is an excellent example of Oblah-blah on display. He can never avoid showing his true self when the opportunity arises. He’s so dysfunctional that he reveals himself.

In my own little world, my fight and campaign against this loser is having its effect. I have my “LOL” and “One Big A__ Mistake, America” bumper stickers on my rear window of my truck and interestingly, though I used to not get passed much on these back country roads in SC….I find that I get passed more often….but by a particular hyphenated type of person. I’ll leave that to your imagination.

Ridicule of the boy is the most effective weapon we have. It gets the left to act stupidly and inappropriately. One such hyphenated person almost got herself into a head-on collision when she passed me and I had the cruise control locked at the sped limit and somehow, she expected me to give way when she found herself locked in a life-threatening gamble of her own making.

At the next stop light, some five miles away, she was furious. I just smiled politely. Then….*gasp* she had the nerve to give this ol’ cowboy THE FINGER. I looked at her quizzically, not understanding her angst and she yelled that I was a racist.

So, my friends, be aware that by locking your cruise control and obeying the law and (possibly) having anti Obama stickers on your vehicle may get you branded as a racist. I was unable to have a more lengthy conversation with my hyphenated friend as the light changed color (it was probably racist, too) and she sped away.

But, I would like to know what transgression I have committed to cause her so much anger; Such animosity. Was it MY fault she was tailgating me? Perhaps. If I had known then that she was hyphenated, I may have sped up…or pulled over to give her her birthright to be in front of me. Or, was it my fault that somehow those racist stickers got put on my truck? Well, ok…I have to admit that. But they are blue, red, black and white…so…I guess I can see how they may be considered potentially threatening to hyphenated people.

But I didn’t know my cruise control was racist too. I’ll have to take it to the shop and get that checked out. Perhaps maybe Haynes can print a new manual to have the racist components of my truck removed. I mean, it could only serve the “greater good”, right?

I have in my desk drawer, a copy of the Harry Reid letter that everyone of the (then) Democrat United States Senators .. including mr. obama and Hillary Clinton .. signed, encouraging Rush Limbaugh’s “boss” (syndicating company) to “reign him in” .. “to shut him up” .. “to punish him” (quotes are my interpretations).

I saved that letter copy because to me, it represents the boldest frontal attack on the Freedom of Speech in this Country that I can point to.

It is the most conclusive evidence and proof that this sickened Democrat Party is at heart, a dangerous and pervasive cancer to our Republic.

Anybody .. and I mean anybody .. that can subscribe to the intent and spirit of that letter has absolutely zero mature comprehension of our very basic and God given Freedom of Speech.

And how sick and tragic is it to know that EVERY Democrat United States Senator (at that time) signed that letter that signifies the weight and (I say, supposed) authority of the US government to bear upon a legal citizen of this Country and attemp to shut him up!

This misaligned and malintended trojan horse that calls himself the president continues, to this very day, to behave along the same spirit.

It’s disgusting as well to know that just recently, 223 United States Congressman voted in favor of legislation that is intended to usurp and violate the Constitution of the United States. Need I say what party the major bulk of those anti-American/anti-Constitutional votes came from.

That letter in my drawer signifies to me that I must be forever diligant. There are unquestionably, enemies of this Country and our way of life here in this Country. They have infiltrated positions within our government. They are amongst us and they are determined.

This president, to me, is the poster boy of their effort. He is very sick and has never shown me, in any convincing manner, that he has the best interests of this Country, or its’ people, at heart.

My every intention is to do all that I can to stop this cancer .. this poison that’s spreading through our Country; and I know I’m amongst some wonderful allies, especially here at S&L. When I need a recharge, I come here and remember there’s really a lot of us. I touch that despiccable letter Reid wrote. I glance out my window and see the flag; and remember all the sacrifices that have been made in blood and treasure.

And, I pray. I pray that a good and loving God will strengthen and aid us all in overcoming this blight upon our Country. It’s said that, “Evil men rule, when good men do nothing.” I think that the “evil men’s” days are numbered. I think .. and pray .. that all of the “good men” will prevail .. and soon.

God Bless Us All … God Bless America … God Bless Our Troops & Veterans!!!

“When our government is spoken of as some menacing, threatening foreign entity”

It’s not the government we think is a menacing, threatening foreign entity. We don’t like government, and we want to make it smaller, but for some strange reasons, Tea Baggers weren’t out in the millions during any previous administration.

Obama is the menacing, threatening foreign entity,

  4. canary says:

Obama spent his entire life saying our government was bad, but now he has saved it. They should study Obama’s bowel movements and see if he has super human powers.

Michigan is such a violent rated state, particularly, do to the increase of radical muslim population, gangbangers, which they know Obama and present government will only promote to becoming worse, and his pointing his finger as he hushes their freedoms is just an insult. Obama is worthless.

  5. Mithrandir says:

Perhaps Obama would have been better served giving his speech to the members of his former church?

I haven’t heard much worse things about the U.S. government, and justifying violence than what came out of ‘Rev.’ Wright’s, and ‘Rev. Pflegler’s mouth. —Maybe when Obama’s amnesia recovers, he will check that one out.

  6. TwilightZoned says:

“Obama used his commencement speech at the University of Michigan to respond to foes who portray government as oppressive and tyrannical — and to warn that overheated language can signal extremists that “perhaps violence is … justifiable.” …

Violence is only justifiable if you’re a left-wing loon. We see proof of that on just about a daily basis and it’s considered perfectly acceptable in the MSM. If you happen to be a member or believer of the Tea Party movement however, expect a show of force and verbal attacks against what has been a peaceful movement.

“He did say that debates about the size and role of government are as old as the republic itself.”

Only from those who don’t agree with the Constitution or the founding fathers belief in minimal government. Just enough to prevent anarchy and protect the God given individual rights of the people.

  7. ptat says:

Words, just words…he was just spouting meaningless words because he doesn’t believe any of it. Tomorrow he will say and do the opposite. His life is one big phony parade of hypocrisy….How hypocritical to be the most divisive, petty president in recent history and then preach against divisiveness!
