Obama Crony Gets ‘Wrist Slap’ For Beating Girlfriend

From the UK’s Daily Mail:

Tech CEO Gurbaksh Chahal filmed brutally attacking girlfriend gets community service

Millionaire Tech CEO filmed hitting and kicking his girlfriend 117 times in brutal 30-minute attack sentenced to just 25 hours community service

A multi-millionaire tech-entrepreneur, who was once named one of America’s ‘most eligible bachelors’, has avoided jail time despite allegedly beating and kicking his girlfriend 117 times in a 30 minute attack. Gurbaksh Chahal, 31, was charged with 45 felony counts over the incident, which took place in his San Francisco apartment in August last year.

Police obtained CCTV which allegedly show Chahal, who ironically describes himself as ‘die hard’, kicking his then-partner in the head multiple times and attempting to smother her. Police were called to Chahal’s Infinity Towers penthouse apartment after a 911-call about domestic violence on August 5, 2013.

Chahal, who made his millions through online advertising startups and currently heads $100million-a-year RadiumOne, is alleged to have threatened to kill his girlfriend several times, according to a police report. Chahal faced 45 felony charged and two misdemeanour charges based on the security footage San Francuisco police pulled from his bedroom.

The 45 counts also included Assault With a Deadly Weapon (not a fire arm), which in this case is cited as a pillow.

However, as the court case proceeded, a judge ruled the video inadmissible as the San Francisco Police Department had obtained it without a warrant. Chahal’s girlfriend also withdrew her testimony and refused to cooperate.

A San Francisco Superior Court Judge, Brendan Conroy, refused to allow the video to be released to the public or used as evidence. The judge said police illegally seized the surveillance video from the apartment but the prosecution argued the tape would have been erased if police had waited for a warrant.

Judge Conroy was appointed by Governor Jerry Brown.

In the end, on April 16, Chahal pleaded guilty to one charge of domestic violence battery and one charge of battery and was sentenced to just 25 hours of community service, three years’ probation and a 52-week domestic violence training course.

It’s good to have friends in high places. No matter how much they cost. (See article below.)

Despite the incident in August, the recent court case and guilty plea, Chahal remains in charge of RadiumOne, working as a motivational speaker and lecturer and continues to publish ‘inspirational posts’ on his social media channels.

These have recently included: ’15 Things Leaders Never Do’, ‘If you’re looking for a role model. Don’t look outside, just look inside.’ and ‘When you want to succeed as bad you want to breathe, then you’ll be successful’. He allegedly smothered his girlfriend for 20 seconds…

So he is a hypocrite to boot.

Here are some further details on Chahal’s Obama connections from the Washington Free Beacon:

Major Obama Donor Avoids Jail Time After Brutally Beating Girlfriend

April 24, 2014

[Gurbaksh] Chahal… has donated more than $100,000 since 2011, all of which went the Democratic Party and Democratic candidates. Those contributions include $81,600 to the Democratic National Committee and $5,000 to President Barack Obama’s reelection campaign.

RadiumOne’s board of directors includes Steve Westly, a major Obama donor who came under scrutiny after four companies that he invested in received stimulus subsidies while Westly sat on an advisory board directing the disbursement of stimulus money.

Chahal has visited the White House twice, on Nov. 30, 2011 to see the president, and on Dec. 14, 2012, to see the president and the first lady, according to White House visitor logs.

Chahal also greeted Obama at a dinner in San Francisco in 2012.

It was not immediately clear whether activists who boycotted Mozilla for its former CEO [Brendan Eich]’s opposition to gay marriage would also target RadiumOne and other Chahal startups.

Clearly, that last line was facetious. It is immediately clear that Mr. Chahal will not be stigmatized for his one man ‘War On Women.’ He has bought all of the indulgences he will ever need with his donations to Obama and the Democrats.

Being a fat cat Democrat donor and Obama crony amounts to a ‘get out of jail free’ card — literally.

One Response to “Obama Crony Gets ‘Wrist Slap’ For Beating Girlfriend”

  1. Unfortunately, the evidence must be tossed out. If police grab anything they want, under the excuse that having to wait for a warrant, would cause the suspect to discard the evidence, then the police could seize the entire house, car, garage, and cat, and then take their sweet time (months even, according to the speed of government) and wait for a warrant, or go judge-shopping for the approval they want. They should have just gotten the warrant and collected whatever remained.

If the evidence is so strong, then the 117 kicks to the head should be enough to prosecute with or without the victims consent. There would be PHYSICAL EVIDENCE to prove the beating took place, even without video evidence. (gee, what did police do before the invention of CCTV?)

The other issue, is the 1st offender program. Most cases get tossed if the offender complete the program, but 45 felony charges and two misdemeanor charges? That’s the fishy part. Whether his girlfriend testifies or not, it’s the State vs. Gurbaksh Chahal.

“Assault With a Deadly Weapon (not a fire arm), which in this case is cited as a pillow.
This CONSISTENTLY is some of the dumbest crap I always hear from the police.
DEADLY WEAPON = anything they want it to be. Ordinarily, the definition means some means with a deadly projectile (gun) or means of slashing the skin (knife). A pillow is not a deadly weapon by anyone’s definition, but they just want the person to look guilty in court when the charges are read because it sounds menacing.
DEADLY MISSILE= anything thrown. (usually is associated with actual military missiles) Police mis-categorize anything thrown as a deadly missile. Snowballs, pencils, (pillows), paper airplanes, –anything. Same reason. When the charges are read, the jury goes, “Oh my gosh! He throws missiles? That’s horrible. Who is he? Osama Bin Laden?”

Another unfortunate thing is WOMEN NEED TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEMSELVES. 117 kicks and punches and she didn’t press charges? I guess money bought her off too.
I don’t know how many scores of times I have seen girls dating dirtbags in high school and college, and they ALWAYS GO BACK TO THE DIRTBAG. You have to look the other way at co-dysfunctional relationships like that. I really don’t feel sorry for her, and according to the article, it’s happened more than 1 occasion. D’oh!

Wouldn’t it be great if this democrat donor got “Lautenberged” and have to give up his 2nd Amendment rights over a misdemeanor?
