Obama Says That He Will Act On His Own On Amnesty

From the Associated Press:

Obama: I’ll act on my own on immigration

June 30, 2014

WASHINGTON (AP) — Conceding defeat on a top domestic priority, President Barack Obama blamed a Republican "year of obstruction" for the demise of sweeping immigration legislation on Monday and said he would take new steps without Congress to fix as much of the system as he can on his own.

"The only thing I can’t do is stand by and do nothing," the president said. But he gave few hints about what steps he might take by executive action…

Once again Obama is pretending that his hands have been tied and he has done nothing to promote amnesty over the last five years. In reality, Obama has done much worse than nothing.

For starters, lest we forget, despite having promised to finish the virtual fence on the border throughout his campaign, Obama actually killed the fence, in March 2009, via executive action, very early in his first term.

And, of course, Obama has also given amnesty to untold millions of illegals in this country, via executive actions. And he has also allowed DHS to release over a hundred thousand illegal aliens who have criminal convictions in 2013 alone. (Including hundreds of murderers and rapists.)

All of which were intended to accomplish the kind of flood of illegals that we are witnessing today. Executive orders have consequences. Just as Obama knew they would.

Obama’s announcement came almost a year to the day after the Senate passed a historic immigration bill that would have spent billions to secure the border and offered a path to citizenship for many of the 11.5 million people now here illegally. Despite the efforts of an extraordinary coalition of businesses, unions, religious leaders, law enforcement officials and others, the GOP-led House never acted…

This is what passes for ‘journalism’ at the AP.

"Our country and our economy would be stronger today if House Republicans had allowed a simple yes-or-no vote on this bill or, for that matter, any bill," Obama said in the Rose Garden. "They’d be following the will of the majority of the American people, who support reform. And instead they’ve proven again and again that they’re unwilling to stand up to the tea party in order to do what’s best for the country." …

It’s simply a lie that the country wants amnesty, or Congress would be champing at the bit to pass it. In fact, it’s an even bigger lie than the lies Obama told about Obama-Care.

For now the White House said [DHS would] refocus resources from the interior of the country to the border, a move that would effectively further reduce the number of deportations in the country’s interior by stressing enforcement action on individuals who are either recent unlawful border crossers or who present a national security threat, public safety, or border security threat…

So Obama has to act on his own to increase border security. Because those Tea Party crazies will never pass any legislation that would do that.

From The Hill:

Obama formally requests new powers to deal with surge at border

By Amie Parnes | June 30, 2014

President Obama on Monday formally requested that Congress grant him additional powers to deport the wave of young people illegally immigrating into the country.

What a disgracefully misleading headline and lead. Obama is not asking permission for new powers. He is saying he is going to take them, via executive action.

Moreover, he already has all the powers he needs under current US law to deport these illegal aliens. The problem has been that he has been ignoring his duty and the laws and not deporting them.

In a letter to congressional leaders, Obama also asked for more money to deal with the surge of people, mostly children from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador, who have come to the border in escalating numbers…

The lengthy letter did not say how much money Obama would request, but he expected to ask for $2 billion in supplemental appropriations…

It is a bit thick for Obama to demand that Congress give him a blank check for $2 billion dollars — so he can bypass them one more time. And bypass the will of the American people, who do not want amnesty.

I’m confused. WHAT is his plan and why does he need 2 billion dollars?

  2. I’m sure John Boner (no it’s not a typo) will write Mr Obama a harshly worded letter or maybe even threaten to sue him again. That’ll work. When is someone in Washington going to stand up to the blatant criminal activities of Obama and impeach the S.O.B. There is ample evidence to support charges. All you have to do is look around. The destruction of everything from our economy to our borders prove that the boy-king messiah is working against the fundamental rights, will, safety and security of every American, and the very sovereignty of our nation.
