Obama Delays O-Care Employer Mandate – Again

Buried in the ‘Health & Science’ section of the Washington Post:

White House delays health insurance mandate for medium-size employers until 2016

By Juliet Eilperin and Amy Goldstein | February 10, 2014

For the second time in a year, the Obama administration is giving certain employers extra time before they must offer health insurance to almost all their full-time workers.

Funny how Democrats (and their news media) aren’t talking about Obama-Care being the inviolate ‘Law Of The Land’ anymore.

Under new rules announced Monday by Treasury Department officials, employers with 50 to 99 workers will be given until 2016 — two years longer than originally envisioned under the Affordable Care Act — before they risk a federal penalty for not complying.

Companies with 100 workers or more are getting a different kind of one-year grace period. Instead of being required in 2015 to offer coverage to 95 percent of full-time workers, these bigger employers can avoid a fine by offering insurance to 70 percent of them next year.

How the administration would define employer requirements has been one of the biggest remaining questions about the way the 2010 health-care law will work in practice…

BS. There is no question in how employer requirements are define in the law as written. The law (a PDF file) says that employers with more than 50 full-time employees provide their employees with “minimum essential coverage.” Which means no more ‘substandard,’ non-Obama-Care plans.

And the law also spells out exactly when this will begin: “EFFECTIVE DATE.—The amendments made by this section shall apply to months beginning after December 31, 2013.” So why is the Washington Post pretending that there was ever any question about this?

By providing the dual phase-ins for employers of different sizes, administration officials have sought to lighten the burden on the small share of affected employers that have not offered insurance in the past.

More BS. By once again delaying the employer mandate, Obama is trying to delay Obama-Care’s affect on jobs. Because he knows Obama-Care will cause employers to stop hiring full-time workers, and cut back on the full-time workers they currently employ. And Obama knows that will hurt the Democrats chances in 2014, and now 2016.

But if, as the White House insists, all of the stories about businesses not hiring or shifting people to part time because of Obama-Care’s employer mandate are just “anecdotal,” then why do they keep pushing it past more and more elections?

As word of the delays spread Monday, many across the ideological spectrum viewed them as an effort by the White House to defuse another health-care controversy before the fall midterm elections…

It ‘defuses’ nothing. It only delays the pain. And it also delays the liberation from ‘job lock’ that 2.5 million workers have been promised.

Moreover, how many people is Obama going to kill by forcing them to remain on their ‘substandard’ insurance? How many women will die because they can’t get free birth control pills? (Which is what Saundra Fluke claimed.)

Ok, allow me to wax a bit despondent here. This, ladies and germs, is precisely why we’re screwed. This is the “we” we have been scared of eventually coming out of the shadows of politics. Executive branch: “Screw legislation, screw congress, screw judicial oversight. We won!”

So go ahead and crow about mid-terms or 2016. Go ahead and assume that if we had just a few more Rand Pauls or Ted Cruzes everything would fall into place. You’re nuts. The only way a republican president could fix this mess would be to bypass the legislative and judicial process ten fold and just mandate that we become a free constitutional representative republic again. Anyone see the problem with that? Of course this supposes that a free election will ever happen again and that a republican (not a Republican) might ever win the oval office. If he were to, the media would immediately jump on any agenda he had as a power grab, any executive order as a usupation of the people’s will, and nevermind that the precedent was set by obama. Up is down a versa visa these days. Any attempt to enforce the laws would be shunned, any attempt to bypass a democrat agenda in congress would be shot down, any program would be lambasted simply because this hypothetical president might not be a full fledged communist dictator. Sorry folks, but this is the swan song.

The words and events in these articles are not the real story. The precedent is and always has been. The government has willingly stated to anyone who will listen: “We are in total control” (as I have mentioned). The only fix to this the people refusing to allow it. The large majority of the people must cry foul, refuse to support these activities, even by there silence, boycott the major media and refuse to follow this insanity to it’s inevitable conclusion. This will require as Jefferson believed that the states saddle this themselves. Refuse the blood money from the fed. Ignore their dictats and secure their own borders, ballot boxes, job markets and sovereignty. This is no call to arms, it is a call to simply not participate. The government’s hold over us only exists because we listen.

There he goes with that Pen-and-Phone stuff again.

But what about all that job-lock?

Just when I was ready to devote the rest of my life to writing poems and painting pictures, there he goes and changes the law again.

He’s supposed to be Transformational Man. He’s supposed to be healing the planet and lowering the oceans. Supposed to be cooling (or is it warming? … sometimes I forget) the climate. Supposed to be repealing the Industrial Revolution, importing more immigrants, raising our debt ceiling, lowering our debt rating, redistributing everything, putting Western capitalist greed and prosperity behind us and making us all The Same.

I so much wanted to be just Equal. To be a moocher like everybody else. And to have all my life decisions made for me by The One.

Life is so unfair. There ought to be a law.
