Obama Delays Troop Meeting Further

From the Washington Post:

General’s D.C. Trip Put Off as Strategy Talks Drag On

By Karen DeYoung and Greg Jaffe
Friday, October 9, 2009

The White House has told the top U.S. and NATO commander in Afghanistan to delay a planned trip here Friday to brief President Obama and his senior advisers on his recommendation for a major troop increase.

Officials had hoped to have Gen. Stanley A. McChrystal and what national security adviser James L. Jones called "all the key players" speak to Obama in person by the end of this week, leading to final deliberations over a forward strategy.

But "we’re not finished," Jones said Thursday, and meetings may extend beyond next week. When the White House is ready, he said, McChrystal — along with the U.S. ambassadors to Afghanistan and Pakistan — will fly to Washington so that the three "can meet with the president before a decision is made."

Mr. Obama had to write his Nobel prize speech.

He doesn’t have time for such mundane matters as troop levels.

Steve, Mr. Obama had to write his Nobel prize speech.

You hit the nail on the head. He will need lot’s of help in writing it. A simple thank you, I don’t deserve this would be the best, but he will drool, pat himself on the back, and possibly his Obomie army.

  2. Snardius says:

This is a travesty. Troops are on the field of battle risking their lives for America and this preening, naive, megalomaniac is contemplating his navel. At the very least McChrystal should grab this stupid man-child by the scruff of his neck and shove his nose into a map of the Middle East and explain the risks of dithering.

  3. proreason says:

McChrystal needs to concentrate on the little tactical stuff and get out of obamy’s face.

When the Moron is ready to set the strategy, he’ll let the boy know.

And if some people die in the meantime, it’s Bushhitler’s fault.

  4. richb says:

I’m inclined to agree with the point made here:

    • proreason says:

That’s a good article, richb, but it makes the common mistake of assuming that the Moron’s handlers are operating as if he is a normal person who is weighing what’s best for the country.

The real reason they haven’t made a decision doesn’t have anything to do with Afghanistan whatsoever. He couldn’t care less what happens with what they consider a minor conflict. If people die while he waits so what? The press will never call him on it, and the left knows he is going to pull out soon anyway. If it takes a few more months, so what? so some more rednecks get killed. They shouldn’t have volunteered in the first place.

No, they aren’t going to do a bleeping thing about Afghanistan until they ram the Health Care takeover down our throats.

And if McChrystal keeps squaking, he will find himself in civilian clothes real soon.

It’s nonsense that the MoronSoros cabal can’t make a decision. They’ll get around to f*ng up our National Security in a much bigger way when they have firm control over the economy.

I’m shocked that McChrystal hasn’t been forced to resign. He’s getting in the way of making this into another quagmire with all of this competent talk of what we need to win.

Indeed, how to handle McChrystal and Petraeus must be quite the conundrum for the Bamster right now.

  5. pdsand says:

He hasn’t had time to meet with Gen McChrystal because he’s been too busy signing executive orders prohibiting federal employees from sending text messages while driving and conducting federal business. A president must keep his priorities straight.

My apologies if someone else already covered this.

  6. sandztorm says:

Actually, I think McChrystal would be wise to assume he will get no support from the Obama administration, and fall back to a position that exposes our guys as little as possible. Obama has time for the Olympics and Nobel committee, but no time for the our troops. He has time to kill defense systems, but no time to consider defense.

Same ole Same ole, democrat play book…

  7. Liberals Demise says:

All the while, people of color line up 65,000 strong to apply for some of that(and I quote) “Obama monies” he be passing out. But only about 3,500 will be approved.

  8. Lurkin_no_mo says:

Nobel Peace Prize….what exactly did he do to get it? Or did Soros and ACORN buy the prize for him?

It would be nice if America really had a unbiased media or at least one with a desire to research and investigate or even perhaps one with a memory:

No strategy? On March 27, flanked by his secretaries of defense and state, the president said this: “Today I’m announcing a comprehensive new strategy for Afghanistan and Pakistan.” He then outlined a civilian-military counterinsurgency campaign to defeat the Taliban in Afghanistan.

[From The Washington Post, Charles Krauthammer – Young Hamlet’s Agony, Friday October 9, 2009]

So while our young men and women fight to simply survive, while their Commander McChrystal attempts to convey the best solution to the current problem in Afghanistan and while our Obamamedia can’t even be bothered to remember (or report) what the Dear Leader said just a few months ago – it goes on and on with no solution.

Because Dear Leader is more focused and driven to shove Obamacare down our throats [btw, did you hear that Senator Harry Reid included an out on the taxes on pricey insurance policies for NV, MI and I think IL is the other one – explain to me exactly how an option like that is about healthcare or insurance reform and not purely a political and partisan maneuver to get more of his voters on board to up the poll ratings to justify a Yea vote?] And until someone has the guts (the Dems are in the majority) – so why wasn’t this shoved through months ago? Perhaps the Dems don’t all drink the koolade – or perhaps Dear Leader is requiring some Repubs to vote Yea – so that the failure can be spread around. Either way the entire Obamacare is a bogus power grab and while Dear Leader is fiddling – Well best said in a paraphrase of an old Bush battering phrase – Obama Lied and Soldiers Died.

    Here’s a potential headline:

Nobel Prize Committee Threatens Over Obama Plans In Afghanistan

See, like many have surmised, the awarding of the no-bell piss prise was to encourage the bamster to not cause any trouble worldwide so that terrorists and socialists, like them, could work their magic. If barry even so much as hints that he’ll drop more troops there, they will “historically” rescind the award, thus shaming him into non-action.

It’s a bribe. Everyone knows it, even the liberals.

A lot of posters will disagree with this article, but it is certainly thought-provoking. It’s Ralph Peters opining on the Afghan War:

Surprisingly, he believes the Biden option is the best option.

“The Biden Strategy: Focus ruthlessly on the destruction of al Qaeda and its auxiliaries across the border in Pakistan or wherever they may appear in Afghanistan. This is the counter-terror practice that’s worked for 3,000 years….The evidence on the ground, the lessons of history, and our real security needs strongly favor the Biden approach, but giving Gen. Stan McChrystal the full surge he wants would be far better than “more of the same, with new slogans”

This is interesting because most observors are saying Biden is an idiot about this, just like everything else he says.

I like it because it is similar to my second choice strategy, which is to move into hardened enclaves and drone em to death. But my current first choice is to leave immediately, for the simple reason that there is zero chance to win with the Moron in charge. Doesn’t matter how he paints it, with him, we lose. Case closed.

But back to the Ralph Peters, he also says that McChrystal is over his head. He’s a warrior, not a strategist. Interesting. And to trump that, if Peters is right, think about the fact that the strategy McChystal needs is a strategy against the real enemy (his own commander), even more importantly than a strategy against the nominal enemy (the Taliban). We all know he can defeat the Taliban, but McChrystal may not even realize who the real enemy is.

I was reading this between IMs with my husband out there. IM is our best form of communication but even then it is pretty spotty.

He had to go suddenly because of a blackout “until further notice”.

This means someone most likely died.

    Please pray.

Disclaimer: I have posted here a bit in the past but I haven’t done so much lately. I promise you I am not a troll.

  14. catie says:

Celina, I haven’t been here much lately myself. I hear once in a while from my husband but not too often. I hate the “blackouts” because you know someone is getting a knock on their door tonight or tomorrow morning.
Tonight our Messiah is meeting with the gays. Yes, the gays. It’s very important that he meets with the gays to get rid of DOMA and to have gays in the military all the time. Funny thing, I met a guy last week that goes into the Navy who is gay and has a “husband”. He is going to see how far he can “push” his agenda, even though he thinks he really does want to serve as a corpsman. It was eye opening to say the least.

    • JohnMG says:

Why doesn’t somebody “out” the son-of-a-bitch before he manages to get himself a platform and a forum by the MSM to further his agenda? I’m sure we had a few corpsmen who were queer when I was in ‘Nam, but they didn’t seem to have an agenda like this current crop of militant faggots present.

All of this shows Obama for what he is….an America-hating socialist creep who surrounds himself with like-minded drones. His goal is to destroy this country from within, by whatever means necessary. We can’t take much more of this crap and hope to survive as a nation.

And while I’m on my rant, I’m finding it increasingly difficult to admit that James Jones and I wore the same uniform. Some REAL Marine should take this traitorus POS to the wood shed….and soon!

    • proreason says:

Oh it’s going to end soon.

The Health Cramdown and Global Warming Scam legislation will pass or they won’t.

If they don’t, the Moron will have a couple more years to preen and then he can take Al’s seat as the head of the deadbeats.

If they do pass, the volcano will continue to bubble. And it will be very ugly before very long.

  15. canary says:

McChystal took the job, under the assumption he would follow the new rules of engagment which would mean more U.S. troops dying. Since, Obama changed his pre-election opinion, more ground troops, then McChystal should now be recommending more air-raids. He cares more about a few extra bars on his uniform, than his soldier’s lives. Chain of Command put’s any errors or failures on Obama’s soldiers, but the way it really works, is someone lower taking the fall. I am not impressed with Obama’s picks during his administration.

  16. canary says:

pre-election opinion, more ground troops (meaning more foot soldiers was his pre-election idea) Obama’s idea since becoming president is doing nothing. Sorry ‘edit’ buttons bringing up blank pages.

  17. proreason says:

Mark Steyn has one of the all-time great lines:

“Obama’s priorities lie not in the Hindu Kush but in America: Why squander your presidency on trying to turn an economically moribund feudal backwater into a functioning nation state when you can turn a functioning nation state into an economically moribund feudal backwater?”
