Obama, Dems May Tie GOP To ‘Tea Party’

Obama Aides Weigh Bid to Tie the G.O.P. to the Tea Party

WASHINGTON — President Obama’s political advisers, looking for ways to help Democrats and alter the course of the midterm elections in the final weeks, are considering a range of ideas, including national advertisements, to cast the Republican Party as all but taken over by Tea Party extremists, people involved in the discussion said.

And they think this will hurt the GOP? The last we heard, the Tea Party was wildly popular – far more than either the Democrat or Republican Party.

White House and Congressional Democratic strategists are trying to energize dispirited Democratic voters over the coming six weeks, in hopes of limiting the party’s losses and keeping control of the House and Senate…

“We need to get out the message that it’s now really dangerous to re-empower the Republican Party,” said one Democratic strategist who has spoken with White House advisers but requested anonymity to discuss private strategy talks.

And yet the media always claim that it’s conservatives who are the fear mongers.

Democrats are divided. The party’s House and Senate campaign committees are resistant, not wanting to do anything that smacks of nationalizing the midterm elections when high unemployment and the drop in Mr. Obama’s popularity have made the climate so hostile to Democrats. Endangered Congressional candidates want any available money to go to their localized campaigns.

In other words, the Democrats don’t want these elections to be a referendum on Mr. Obama and the Democrats’ disastrous agenda over the last three and a half years. And who can blame them?

Late Sunday night, White House advisers denied that a national ad campaign was being planned. “There’s been no discussion of such a thing at the White House” or the Democratic National Committee, said David Axelrod, Mr. Obama’s senior adviser.

They why did the New York Times run this story? Don’t they believe Mr. Axelrod, either?

Proponents say a national ad campaign, most likely on cable television, would complement those individual campaigns and give Democrats a chance to redefine the stakes. The Democratic strategist said voters did not now see much threat to them from a Republican takeover of Congress, even though some Tea Party-backed candidates and other Republicans have taken positions that many voters consider extreme, like shutting down the government to get their way, privatizing Social Security and Medicare and ending unemployment insurance

It truly is hilarious what the Democrats and the rest of our news media think is “extreme.” In fact, it always turns out to be anything they happen to disagree with.

Except for Ms. O’Donnell in Delaware, Republican nominees that Democrats like to showcase as extremists — including in Senate races in Nevada, Colorado, Kentucky and even blue-state Connecticut — are even with their Democratic rivals in polls or ahead

Which, given the way the media stacks their polls, means the Tea Party candidates are ahead everywhere but in Delaware.

And, in point of fact, Christine O’Donnell is closer to Chris Coons than Scott Brown was to Martha Coakley at this point in their respective campaigns.

Moreover, it would seem, the more people hear about these extreme candidates, the more they like them.

So, yes, by all means, run against the Tea Party. Nationalize the campaign.

We dare you.

    This is better than anticipated. The Dimocrats are running scared.

    They’re afraid that the public has stopped listening to their lies and is hearing the truth about the clusterf**k the Dims have made of everything. They know no other tactics other than scare tactics like when they try to terrify the elderly that the GOP wants to take away their Medicare and Social Security.

    If they start this campaign it will backfire on them. All it will do is draw attention to their failures and follies.

    And we all know that Axelrod ALWAYS tells the truth. (I’m sorry, I can’t type over the sound of my own gag reflex). Why would the Times put out this story even though Axelrod says it’s not true? It’s a trial balloon. They’re testing the waters to see what kind of buzz a potential link would cause. They still don’t get it. They still think they can divide and conquer. They still think their lies are going unnoticed. They still think it’s Dems vs Repubs. This movement is the People vs. the Elite. Capitalists vs Communists. Constitutionalists vs. Statists. In other words Freedom versus Slavery.
