Obama: Dithering Leaks = Firing Offense

From the Politico:

Barack Obama: Afghanistan leaks firing offense

BEIJING — President Barack Obama says he is angry about leaks from his deliberations on more troops for Afghanistan, and said he considers such disclosures a firing offense.

Obama, during a round of four network interviews before he left China for South Korea, told Chip Reid of CBS News: "[W]e have these deliberations in the Situation Room for a reason – because we are making decisions that are life-and-death, that affect how our troops will be able to operate in a theater of war." …

During the exchange, Reid asked: “Secretary Gates has made clear that he is furious about all the leaks [about Afghanistan deliberations]. And with it playing out on the front pages of the paper every day, some people said it makes you look indecisive. Are you that angry about these leaks, and do you think it makes you look uncertain?"

Obama: “I think I am angrier than Bob Gates about it, partly because we have these deliberations in the Situation Room for a reason – because we are making decisions that are life-and-death, that affect how our troops will be able to operate in a theater of war. For people to be releasing information during the course of deliberation — where we haven’t made final decisions yet — I think is not appropriate.”

Reid: “Firing offense??”

Obama: “Absolutely.”

As for the decision itself, Obama told NBC’s Chuck Todd, “This decision will put us on a path towards ending the war.” …

In an interview with CNN’s Ed Henry, Obama said that, despite the leaks, the weeks of meetings on Afghanistan are nearly at a conclusion.

“We are very close to a decision,” Obama declared. “I will announce that decision certainly in the next several weeks….We do have a vital interest in making sure that al Qaeda cannot attack us and that they can’t use Afghanistan as a safe haven. We have a vital interest in making sure that Afghanistan is sufficiently stable, that it can’t infect the entire region with violent extremism. We also have to make sure that we’ve got an effective partner in Afghanistan.” …

We find it odd that Mr. Obama, like Mr. Gates before him, only now is objecting to leaks when they are about his inexcusable dithering on reinforcing our troops in Afghanistan.

Indeed, as we previously noted, Mr. Gates also complained about the leaks about the Ft. Hood murderer, Maj. Hasan.

Where have they been for the last eight years, when Allah knows how many vital national security secrets – matters of “life and death” — have been splashed across the front page of the New York Times and the Washington Post?

But, now that the leaks are making Mr. Obama (or Mr. Hasan) look bad, they are suddenly a firing offense.

It’s quite despicable. But all too typical.

And speaking of despicable, note that Mr. Obama is now saying that it will be several weeks yet before he can come to his momentous decision.

Maybe he intends to give our soldiers the reinforcements they need as a Christmas present.

Also note how Mr. Obama only talks about “ending the war” in Afghanistan.

He says nothing about winning it.

“we are making decisions that are life-and-death”

    you bet they are life-and-death.

And not just for the troops; for YOUR life and death as well.

Because the whole reason for the “dithering” is because he doesn’t want Afghanistan to interfere with his takeover of the Health Care industry. If a few hundred soldiers who are so dumb that they got “stuck in Afghanistan” die, it’s not the Moron’s fault.

He has bigger fish to fry.

    Senior citizens.

Piss or get off the pot.

    Dithering. Dithering. Dithering.

There are some things that the Commander-in-Chief must decide for himself. After calling George Soros, after taking the nation’s pulse, after conferring with Michelle and Mama Robinson, he still must decide certain things for himself.

It is the responsibility of the office. And the responsibility of consciousness. So long as one is still a conscious being, one must make decisions.

Even poor, dumb animals must make decisions. Even the lowly amoeba has the will to self-defense. The amoeba will extend a finger-like projection of protoplasm in one direction or another, and make its move. This movement is evidence of life. The amoeba makes its decision, and it moves. And the amoeba does so without the help of any government program or agency.

But, of course, one does not have to remain conscious. There is the alternative of oblivion.

In this regard Liberals are a special genus apart from others. For them there is always the hope that immobility of mind and body may offer the best protection. That strategy has in fact worked for some marsupials.

The lower species of marsupials, that is. The roadkill species. But as an evolutionary strategy it does offer some degree of merit. Or at least it did in former times, until the invention of the motor car and the varmint rifle.

So, to sum up: Play possum. Lay low. Head down. Eyes closed. Keep those glistening pectorals tucked in safely, out of harm’s way. No rushing to judgment. No jumping to conclusions. Passively waiting until all the facts are in. Compiling every piece of information. Looking for the right exit strategy. Always voting “present.” Prince Hamlet contemplating the universe. To be or not to be.

Yes, life without the responsibility of consciousness. That’s my Liberal.

Incidentally, everyone quotes T. S. Eliot on not with a bang but a whimper, but aren’t there even more appropriate quotes in “Prufrock”?

    Do I dare
    Disturb the universe?
In a minute there is time
For decisions and revisions which a minute will reverse.

… Should I, after tea and cakes and ices,
Have the strength to force the moment to its crisis?
… I have seen the moment of my greatness flicker,
And I have seen the eternal Footman hold my coat, and snicker,
And in short, I was afraid.

    … Full of high sentence, but a bit obtuse;
At times, indeed, almost ridiculous ––
    Almost, at times, the Fool.

Our fearless, peerless leader (sic) personifies the Peter Principle having reached his level of incompetence with spectacularly dismal results.

    I fear for our country!

Give him a little more time. After all, he has to learn more about the military in a few months than the generals have learned in their lifetimes, and run the counrty as well.

  7. BillK says:

    Obama leaks? A firing offense.

Leaking security secrets to the New York Times? No problem!

    ” .. making decisions ..” .. ” .. making decisions ..” – what an idiot!

So what’s the decisions you’ve made o-blah-blah? Since August they’ve been lookin’ for a decision, you dolt!

    My God in heaven ….

  9. canary says:

An excuse for Obama to set a precedence of a new General CZAR detail of some thug with no military, or someone defective like Kerry.

  10. Tater Salad says:

On the flip-side of this statement by Obama then is failure to give the American people his “Transparency” requirement a “firing offense” also?????

  11. proreason says:

The cabal has certainly found the transition from the con game to governing to be more difficult than they imagined.

For years, they were free to lie, distort, malign, obfuscate, spin, accuse and double-talk with impunity. They are geniusses at it, or at least, geniuses at leveraging the assets their communists predecessors put in place for them; control of the media and control of the education system.

But now, despite the Herculean efforts of the msm, they simily cannot avoid governing, which means they have to DO things, not just talk about doing things. The arrogance of the Moron after being carried around on a velvet pillow for 20 years doesn’t help. The confidence of the politburo handlers after the successful first step of the take-over is beginning to crack.

It has proven impossible to come up with a mirror large enough to hide their actions from the public.

And that is proving to be catastrophic. Catastrophic for the country, but also catastrophic for the con.

The main reason for the “dithering” is because they now have begun to recognize that they will not be able to hide the consequences of this decision, and they know that simply MAKING a decision will impact other pieces of the Coup Plan.

This is why I think the danger is at it’s peak right now.

    They are already desperate.

And there is no limit to what they are capable of doing.
