Obama ‘Army’ Begins 2010 Budget Push

From a highly approving Washington Post:

Obama Enlists Campaign Army In Budget Fight

By Chris Cillizza
Monday, March 16, 2009; A01

President Obama will kick off an all-out grass-roots effort today urging Congress to pass his $3.55 trillion budget, activating the extensive campaign apparatus he built during his successful 2008 candidacy for the first time since taking office.

The campaign, which will be run under the aegis of the Democratic National Committee, will rely heavily on the 13 million-strong e-mail list put together during the campaign and now under the control of Organizing for America (OFA), a group overseen by the DNC

David Plouffe, who was Obama’s campaign manager and is now an adviser to OFA, called this effort the “first major engagement” of the group in the legislative process and said in a statement that it will call on supporters “to help the President win the debate between those who marched in lockstep with the failed Bush economic policies and now have no new ideas versus the Obama agenda which will help us manage the short term economic crisis and puts us on the path to long term prosperity.”

Plouffe, who passed up a formal role in the White House but remains a conduit to the army of Obama volunteers, sent an e-mail to the OFA mailing list over the weekend signaling the ramping up of the campaign for the president’s budget. “In the next few weeks we’ll be asking you to do some of the same things we asked of you during the campaign — talking directly to people in your communities about the President’s ideas for long-term prosperity,” he wrote.

That push begins today with an e-mail asking volunteers to go door to door Saturday to urge their neighbors to sign a pledge in support of Obama’s budget plan.

A new online tool, to be unveiled this week on the DNC/OFA Web site, will help constituents find their congressional representatives’ contact information so they can call the lawmakers’ offices to voice approval of the proposal. A midweek follow-up message to the mailing list will ask volunteers to call the Hill — the first time the OFA e-mail database has been used to urge direct contact with Congress in support of legislation.

“Members are going to be surrounded by this, and this is going to carry on for the next several weeks on this budget fight,” said one source familiar with the strategy.

Several people closely involved in this campaign’s planning made it clear that they believe this is the moment Democrats have been waiting for since Obama’s election — the deployment of the volunteer army that helped catapult a freshman senator to the presidency.

When Obama announced the formation of Organizing for America via YouTube in January, he said the group “will build on the movement you started during the campaign” and added: “That’s why I am asking people like you who fought for change during the campaign to continue fighting for change in your communities.”

Obama’s closest aides have been plotting for months when to make the move. Bringing Organizing for America under the umbrella of the DNC and installing a group of Obama loyalists — including Virginia Gov. Timothy M. Kaine as chairman and Jen O’Malley Dillon, a highly regarded campaign operative, as executive director — were aimed at re-creating the disciplined organization of the campaign.

“This is exactly the scenario OFA was moved into the DNC for, to take on the toughest tasks, the most transformational moments,” said one party source. “Remember, everything Obama wants to accomplish from a substantive perspective requires him to pass this budget as a down payment and to draw lines in the sand.” …

The Organizing for America team has held several dry runs to test the efficacy of their volunteer apparatus, including a call for supporters to hold “economic recovery house meetings” last month to highlight challenges presented by the recession. The house parties were designed to coincide with the congressional debate over Obama’s $787 billion stimulus package, which passed with near-unanimous Democratic support and just three Republican votes.

That OFA push had mixed results. Although the Obama team touted the 30,000 responses the e-mail drew from the volunteer community and the more than 3,000 house parties thrown in support of the stimulus package, a report in McClatchy Newspapers indicated that several events were sparsely attended

This is a follow on report on the Obama Over America “Pledge Project” we first reported on yesterday.

Even the Washington Post can’t make it sound like anything other than a truly un-American concept.

There is certainly nothing “grassroots” about it.

Any more than MoveOn.org is a “grassroots movement.”

I hope one of the little commie bastards comes calling on Saturday, I have scared the crap out of a liberal in some time now.

  2. curvyred says:

Looks like the link is no longer worker.

As I said yesterday, this is rather scary.

Is this a precursor to the National Civillian Security Force?

*I think my tinfoil hat needs adjusted*

  3. Rusty Shackleford says:

Well, I guess they wont’ be considered “lobbyists” in the traditional sense. “Thugs”, “Goons”, “Enforcers”, etc., seems more appropriate. Honestly, what does an insecure, uncertain and inept “leader” do? They surround themselves with hoods who have their own agenda and who enforce the will of the “leadership”.

Straight of of “Mobster Tech 101”. Chicago Style.

Each and every day….I see what he means by “sweeping changes” to our government.

I am very depressed about all of it.

    1) His first act was to cost us all a lot of money
    2) Next he plans to cost us our freedom

If I really spoke my mind, Mr Gilbert would ban me for life from this site.

  4. proreason says:

    I love it.

    It will backfire.

Nobody but the zombie Obamabots will do it, and when they come “calling”, as Right of the People says, everybody else is going to see exactly how creepy this bowel movement is.

The Moron’s +/- in Rasmussen is down to +4 today, and that is AFTER a major Wall Street rally last week.

Rusty, hang on, things are changing already.

Aside from the past 55 days being a disaster – Bambi’s team doesn’t see the difference between campaigning and governing. The former was successful due to shaky web-based donations, untransparent donors and ACORN – which occurs behind the scenes.

This “army” of grammar challanged dopes will come off as a bunch of grammar challanged dopes and thugs because it is out there for all to see, akin to the other “agenda’s” Bambi is pressing.

Rasmussen polls, Obama flippers (Cramer, now Baldwin!!!) and the average Joe let me know exactly what I knew 5 months ago…

  5. David says:

I had a 3 year old in my Sunday school class chanting “yes we can.” Put me for a loop because I know his parents are right thinking conservatives. The humor of it all, I found out later, is that he was singing the “Bob the Builder” theme song. I think this says a lot to the level of intellectual involvement of Obama’s entire “G-roots” movement.

    • catie says:

Yeah, it’s hard to take a President seriously who took his campaign slogan from “Bob the Builder” isn’t it? If I was artistic (which I’m not) I would make a shirt that has Bob the Builder with Obambi’s face on it saying “Yes, we can!”.

  6. K1r0ft says:

I’ve go an earful for this cult if they ever show up at my door. This is seriously scary stuff. We’ve got to get that damn teleprompter! (now there’s a comic book idea)

  7. artboyusa says:

The President sprinkled another heaping spoonful of stem cells over his cornflakes and began to munch away happily. “Wanna try shum?” he asked White House Chief of Staff and Head Doorman Rahm “Racoon” Emanuel.

    “Um, no thanks Mr President”.

“Fulla protein” urged the jug eared politico.

“I already had some protein this morning, sir” said Rahm.

“Yeah; I bet you did” said the president. “That’s what I wanted to talk to you about”.

“Look Rahm; as you know my administration is about changing attitudes and mindsets and dragging this dumbass country into a brighter tomorrow where we can take our positive message of hope and change and shove it down their stupid, ignorant throats until they fucking choke on it…”

    “Yessir!” enthused Rahm.

“But despite my 70% approval ratings, we still have to be careful, Racoon. We still have to make sure we always present a positive, happy face to the world” said the president, doodling skulls and daggers dripping blood onto a thick sheaf of papers headed “Naughty and Nice Pledge Takers/Refusers List: Updated Daily”.

    “Certainly, sir”.

“And I’m just wondering if that happy face has room on it for someone like you who is, um, such a screaming homo”.

“WHAT???!!!” ejaculated Rahm. “I don’t believe this! Oh my god!”

“Now look, Racoon; we go back a long ways and I’ve never held it against you that you’re the tail gunning, rump riding, pillow biting bum boy faggot that you so definitely are” soothed the president. “I never said a word about your eyeshadow or your mincing, prancing, bitching behaviour and I told everyone that your collection of Barbies and Judy Garland records were only colorful eccentricities”.

“But I’m not gay!” protested Rahm. “I’m straight – I like girls! Honest!”

“Yeah, sure.” tutted the president. “As straight as a pool party at Rock Hudson’s house. Listen, Racoon; I’m trying to help you out here, you little fairy. I think its time you got married”.

“But I am married. You’ve met her!”

“Met him, you mean – and very convincing he is, but I’m not here to judge you, you pathetic sodomite. I’m just saying that we need the black vote and we need the Hispanic vote and I wouldn’t mind some of those evangelicals either and, sorry, but queens don’t go down well – if you’ll excuse the expression – with any of those communities. So you need to butch it up pronto if you want to stay on with our progressive, forward looking and open minded team”.

    “BUT I’M NOT GAY!”

“So sad” the president sighed. “So very sad; a classic case of denial. Look, you can’t stay in the closet forever, Rahm. It’s just not healthy. Its best that you learn to accept that you are what you are”.

“But I am what I am!”

“So is Popeye the Sailor Man, and we all know what goes on below decks during those long sea voyages” said the Great Helmsman. “And I notice you said ‘butt’ twice just now. That’s a very interesting choice of word, don’t you think?”

“Huh? But I said ‘but, not ‘butt’”.

“See? You just did it again: ‘butt’, ‘butt’, butt’, that’s all you people think about. You’re obsessed with it, aren’t you?”

“Ah ha! There you go again. Look, the marriage would only be for show. It needn’t keep you away from your real, you know, proclivities – you’d just need to be a little more discreet, that’s all”.

“But – I mean, on the contrary, I’m NOT GAY – I swear to you! This is like a nightmare from which I can’t wake up!”

“Now you know how the country feels. Look, I’ve already spoken to Hillary and after her divorce comes through she’s more than willing…”

“HILLARY??? Oh no! Oh no! Now I really wish I was gay!”

“See? You’re already starting to come to terms with it. Good for you…”

    • pharaohjoe says:

Dude, you’re killing me. “As straight as a pool party at Rock Hudson’s house.” I’m stealing that.

  8. wardmama4 says:

Unlike The One’s ™ campaign – this time the ‘volunteers’ know that 1) they will be solicited for money, 2) be forced to pay for any/all items they need or use for this ‘volunteer’ effort and 3) will probably have their information sold to many, many DNC approved organizations.

It speaks volumes that The One ™ has to go such lengths to get a budget passed – makes one wonder exactly what The One ™ and Pelosi have hidden inside of it.

    • canary says:

Wardmama4, they have to have a city permit to ask for any donations or sale anything. You call the police. If you have a “make my day law” it’s safe to the army communists in your invite them in and discuss the matter with them. Have camera might be good protection. Or you could would put on muslim attire, mask your face, and ask them for the money Obama promised you. Or when they hand you the clip board to sign, you could puke on it.

    • curvyred says:

I actually plan to video record any interaction with them. Assuming, there is one.

I wasn’t contacted during the elections – so maybe I will get lucky and they will bypass my neighborhood again.

Perhaps that flapping of the arms was some form of it. The cult of personality truly has a hypnotic effect on the idealistic youths.

  17. VMAN says:

Well I guess now is the time to talk to our neighbors. Talk to the ones on either side and across the street. Find out where they stand with the teleprompter in chief. If they’re on the fence try to show them what a real American should believe. If they’re Obomabots draw a line in the sand and tell them not to cross it. It’s time to make these people know that we are serious and they had better be afraid, very afraid. As to the real Americans tell them to contact other neighbors and so on. This creep has to be stopped.

Does Rush know about their Billboard Campaign. They are asking for donations.

Also, since they constantly want you to login, if you click on the security lower right hand page,
then click on a small US map, in upper right hand corner, and ‘
then put your zip code and find out what’s going in your neighborhood, without loggin in.

Their groups, and dates, house parties, and their posts. And not doing to welll here. Course maybe they are pretending to be poor. I guess it’s legal for the American Democrat Party to have members and donations from all over the world. I imagine they have every Democrats address. They got records of how many homes they knock on and stuff like that. Talked to Congressman aid (that office is always full of aids that don’t seem to do anything) , two Senator’s aids, and they never heard of this, but seemed to be interested. Called DC and local offices and e-mailed.

I’m sorry, maybe I’m ignoring the fact that behind every mundane bill from Obama, there are hidden aspects of radical screeching socialism, but you could never get me that excited about a budget. What screams, ‘I want to faint!’ at a rally like…the federal budget!
Of course I realize by reading the introductory chapters of the president’s budget that the point of this bill is less “funding” and “appropriations” as it is social justice and wealth redistribution, but I wonder if his dumb little obamabots can wrap their heads around that?

  21. Professor_Repulso says:

“If instant world government…[does] not provide the answers, what hope for progress is there? … In short, the ‘house of world order’ will have to be built from the bottom up rather than the top down. It will look like a great ‘booming, buzzing confusion,’ to use William James’ famous description of reality, but an end run around national sovereignty, eroding it piece by piece, will accomplish much more than the old fashioned frontal assault….”

    Barack O’Burnout….

With a Democrat House / Senate / White House, you would think the cajoling, campaigning, brownshirting, and discussing would be OVER! But no, liberalism is in perpetual crisis and attack mode making this the MOST ANNOYING PRESIDENCY IN HISTORY.

The vote is over, and grassroot parties, and getting-out-the-message, and going door-to-door nonsense will amount to nothing. All it will do is annoy the hell out of Americans who can’t do anything else but wait for the next election when their vote will count again.

  25. Rusty Shackleford says:

Well, after thinking about it some more and watching the video again, one thing seems to now stand out to me.

    1) They are all black. And, along with that, the movements and “rythm” of the whole mess seems strikingly tribal in its presentation. To me this is intentional and touches on something that has crossed my mind over the years repeatedly. That being
    2) Blacks, dissatisified with their “station” in the grand scheme of things, that is, Western culture, economics and customs, perhpas see a skewed version of THEIR Utopia which is no less unattainable than that of the typical left wing liberal, but much more versed in an “African” content with tribal leadership and lots of hip-hop movement.

This is the consistent undercurrent of blacks in this nation where, as opposed to blacks in other Western nations that seem to assimilate into them without much difficulty, our home-grown version is somehow still seeking an anti-identity to US culture. It has been that way for years but has more recently become invasive and outright obnoxious with the arrival of rap entertainers with violent references and the ongoing spate of “athletes behaving badly”.

It has been my contention all along, as it has with others, that blacks in the US are not and never did, strive for equality in the community sense, but instead want to have all the marbles, the money, the power. To me, that’s simply what I call “tribal mentality”.

This latest presentation of “black unity” for lack of a better term, illustrates it perfectly and actually reminded me of a video of what soldiers in Ruwanda act like. At least on the rudimentary, basic front of it.

I dunno, perhaps I’m out in left field in the rain on this but no matter how hard I try, I have never met a black person who wasn’t angry and, once that aspect is uncovered, desirous of some sort of way to have the power to “push people out”….those people being anyone who’s not black. That includes Hispanics/Latinos, foreigners, Asians and especially whites.

This whole little “grass roots” (interesting choice of terms, aka “jungle”) movement seems to indicate that before too long, the tribal wars and land and power grabs of the African continent and the constant instability of that region may soon hit here. Not to say “the sky is falling” but at the same time, it bears considerable watching in that it could quickly ignite into something beyond ugly.

Oblabby has already said he wanted a “national security force” that is NOT the military, NOT the police but is equally powerful and funded AS those two entities. In other words, he could not utilze the military and the police in their current form as they are hampered by rules/regulations put in place by (white) people (incorrect but that’s how I’m sure he sees it) and thus, hampered with too much protocol that would take too long to un-do. SO, rather than try to usurp those entities, start from scratch, as has been mentioned and start with the young and get them indoctrinated into the mantra of socialism and “equality” as they see it.

This is how, in a free, democratic society, freedom can, and most likely will die unless this group is pushed out of existence by using our very laws and system of government to identify it for what it is. I would be relieved to find the organizers of this group to be brought before a national hearing to explain just exactly what they are, what they do, and where their money comes from.

Since hate groups in the US are not technically illegal, this is especially dangerous because we have hamstrung ourselves with political correctness and it’s very likely that any attempts to disban this group will be met with cries of racsim and unfair bias.

The time to irradicate it is now. Not a year from now.

“creation of a crisis where martial law will be imposed…”

I wouldn’t put it past The Moron’s handlers, particularly now that the first 50 days have revealed the utter incompetance of the obamistration.

With middle of the road commentators now questioning the chaos, the handlers have to be getting worried.

I’ve been predicting a war because historically that is a common tactic of demagogue dictators, but martial law makes more sense since any war could go nuclear…..and after all, the handlers want something left to rule over like kings.

It would appear that o-blah-blah is expertly quarterbacking a game plan he was groomed and trained for. This American Thinker piece surely outlines what seems to be going on …

MR—-The American Thinker piece is spot-on…

“It would appear that o-blah-blah is expertly quarterbacking a game plan he was groomed and trained for”

I don’t believe for a second that The Moron is quarterbacking this coup d’etat.

He can’t even find his way to the bathroom on his own.

Take away his teleprompter and he is a blabbering idiot.

The whole thing is a strategy long-ago thought out and implemented. He was picked to be the demagogue. And now that he got the prize, his rank incompetance is so apparent even the slavey’s can see it.

The American Thinker article adds some interesting aspects to the strategy.

In my view, the strategy has been 1. capture the media. 2. capture the schools 3. create the demagogue 4. implement socialism. And the goal was and is to solidify a new ruling class by destroying free markets which are the main threat to the wealthy elite who run the show, masquerading as radicals (note: there are certainly real radicals involved as well, but I doubt they are in command).

Am Thinker points out that creating political chaos by using Alinsky’s brain-fart to use system against itself has also been a key element of the strategy. It makes sense, since virtually every action of the lunatic left actually destroys the lives of the people they purport to help. Essentially, minorities are now exploited worse than they ever have been, and with their full dim-witted cooperation. They shouldn’t be blamed, they should be pitied.

    • TwilightZoned says:

Rusty, you are not alone in your thinking. Sometimes something needs to be said out loud for people to realize there are many who think alike-to the point of being a majority. Your thoughts may very well be in the majority.

Just FYI what these boys are doing, a few of them after apparently hitting the buffet table pretty hard, is called stepping. I know there is at least one movie based on this sort of performance (called Stomp the Yard). It has been popular in black fraternities and sororities for a number of years.

It still isn’t any less creepy that they made up this poorly done performance in honor of Obama. I might expect to see a church youth group put up something similar. The only thing they would really need to change is to substitute the name “Obama” with “Jesus Christ”.

    • Rusty Shackleford says:

Yes it is Stomping (and some refer to it as Stepping)- plenty of college fraternities partake in it.

Generally, it is a very exciting show to watch – when done by young college students.

Not so much when done with out of shape middle school children who should be learning writing, mathmatics and science not the political agenda of their teacher – even more offensive is our tax dollars paid for “this education:”

I would like to point out Spike Lee’s School Daze to get a sense of how he incorporates it into the “sillyness” of black fraternities, among other things.
