Prescriptions skyrocketed during Clinton, though Obama wrote Bush is at fault for raising health costs, especially prescriptions in 2003, when in reality, prescriptions lowered during Bush, do to capitalism of Walmart Pharmacy who started the 4 dollar precription plan, and other pharmacies started lowering their prices. A Walmart worker is telling me, along with haircut shops, and such, they are planning to have doctor offices in Walmarts. Shop while you wait, shop the pharmacy when the doctor gives the prescription, Someone told me Walmarts still gives full printouts with their prescriptions.
It was Clinton that started the paper mess that burned out doctor’s and nurses, the mass production factory line of caring for patients that may save, but worse health care. The doctors and nurses spend so much time putting things in computers less, watching the patient. The computerizing monitering patients, particularily ICU, beeps, has caused a new problem called ICU dementia or as the VA call’s it ICU psychosis. I also read of regulation of capping medical proffessional’s pay. The shortage of people going into the medical field is already horrendous, so capping their pay, will take the incentitive away from the cost and long study to become a doctor.
Of course Obama might start a new federal medical facility where LPN’s get their license in 6 weeks and perform certain things doctor’s are required to do.
Course it was mighty white of Michello to take 65,000 for no show work, from a hospital. That money could have saved lives!
Also, most insurance companies have already started doing more preventive care.

Anecdotally, when my wife was born, her aunt was due to give birth to one of her cousins a few days later. She and her mother stayed in the hospital for five more days waiting on the cousin to be delivered – and then stayed two more days due to all the visitors! And the bill was only $50.00 +/- in 1962. Paid in cash. This would be about $500.00 in today’s dollars via CPI escalation. However, the cost of having a child in a hospital today is closer to $10,000.00 – a factor of twenty over CPI increases!

I agree with you Colonel, and support high deductable insurance. $10K sounds about right. I don’t think that would have as dramatic an impact as no health insurance at all, but at least it would get us out of the mode of “an MRI for my scraped knuckle?….hey, why not 2 to be safe?”.

I expect the price for routine physicals, doctor’s calls for the sniffles, mammograms, Xray’s, and all other routine medical procedures would come down very quickly. (btw, I think doc in the boxes are slowly making in-roads in the price of minor emergency care anyway.)

I would have to think about it some more, but I might even be able to support some taxpayer funding for deductable assistance for the genuinely needy.

And then there is the other fixable problem. Cap medical mal-practice awards to be at least marginally related to the damage done, and bust scumbag leeches like John Edwards by making them pay the defense’s expenses when the scumbags lose.

Well said, PR. I advocate abolishing all health insurance, or at least any that doesn’t have a $10k deductible, and let people start being healthcare consumers again and we’ll see the return of free-market conditions and far lower costs…

There are so many lost trillions floating around, we need to start tagging them.

I know several doctors locally, they all say the same, the paperwork costs of dealing with the government means they won’t do it. So as I see it, the achillies heel here is who you gonna get for the doctor?

Why not we just take the trillions in savings and forget the government run rationing of health care?

The solution already exists to maake medical costs drop like a rock, and it’s so simple it could be enacted in 1 day, with no cost whatsoever.

All you have to do is look at the two areas of medical practice where costs have gone down dramatically over the last 20 years……..laser eye surgery and plastic surgery.

What is the closely held secret that has allowed costs in those areas to approximate the action in the decline of PC costs?

Yep…………health insurance doesn’t cover them. So doctors and clinics that want to succeed do that evil, old-school U.S. thing…..they compete for customers.

But hey, perish the thought of a free market in THIS country. We are far far beyond that kind of injustice.

It wouldn’t give the TMCC any control over our lives.

Saving trillions by streamlining billing practices? Maybe he has a point. The healthcare system will be free from the ballooning costs associated with the two cent per stamp price increases.

Truth is the two largest potential cost savings are tort reform and sending the illegals packing. Since trial lawyers and illegals are both sacred cows of the Democrat Party, the cost side of the equation will remain intact.

Of course we haven’t even mentioned that these “savings” are not reductions in the amount of money being spent on healthcare. That is still projected to increase. These are simply reduction in the projected amount/rate of the increase in spending. Just like the democrats favorite method of determining how much they are “reducing the deficit”.
