I am not aware of anyone who I trust to be President. I think the system we currently have in place is adequate to keep total fruitcakes out of office, with a few notable exceptions.

I want the cabinet to be chosen by aptitude and knowledge, not by religion, political belief, or any other factor. I don’t have the resources to determine who the best candidates are, so I can’t judge them for myself.

For SecDef, I would choose from among retired flag officers, same for the Military branch secretaries. SecState I would find by using a corporate headhunter to skim the best executives. For the rest, I would find the foremost expert in the field, and ask him for his recommendations. The ideal person in each case should be able to describe advantages, disadvantages, and alternatives to every course of action.
