Obama Has To Overcome Jobs ‘Optimism’

From the Politico:

Obama’s new hurdle: Jobs report optimism

President Barack Obama has a new challenge with the jobs report due out Friday: rising expectations.

Several months of improving numbers filtered through an election-year prism have bolstered Obama’s standing — but also have fueled anticipation that the employment outlook will continue to improve.

If new jobs aren’t added at the same rate, Obama’s political opponents will attack him for not doing enough to sustain the economy. If they go up, he’ll almost certainly be slammed for the economy not improving enough. And if they tick down — or the unemployment rate rises — expect searing attacks about a president leading the country into a double-dip recession

The only thing that’s sure is that all the GOP presidential candidates and Republicans on the Hill already have their statements cued up and ready to go, just waiting to pop in the final wording to match whatever number Friday morning brings

For the past two months, job growth trounced the modest projections of Wall Street economists as payrolls increased by 243,000 in January and 203,000 in December. The unemployment rate went from 8.7 percent to 8.3 percent..

That is a staggering .4%!

All of that has helped push up Obama’s poll numbers, despite the many Americans who are still stuck with depressed incomes and home values from a recession that technically ended in the summer of 2009.

Oh, so now the recession only "technically ended" in June of 2009.

Adding to the pressure on Obama off of the report, economists have been optimistic, upping their hiring estimates to 210,000 for February…

Recent jobs reports have helped Obama justify his decisions to bailout the auto industry, pass the $787 billion stimulus program, and extend the payroll tax cut and unemployment benefits through the end of this year

Yes sir, driving down unemployment by a whopping .4% was worth however man trillions of taxpayer dollars he has spent.

For many, the gauge of success tends to be the monthly Labor Department employment report… Obama opponents are already crouched in position to attack.

Republican presidential frontrunner Mitt Romney devoted part of his Super Tuesday speech to the administration’s botched prediction that the 2009 stimulus would keep unemployment below 8 percent.

“This president has failed you,” Romney told supporters. “President Obama said he would create jobs. For 36 months, unemployment has been above 8 percent.” …

In fact, unemployment has never been below 8.3 percent since Obama’s first month in office.

But what we have here is the real explanation of why the unemployment rate has stayed the same. It was vitally important to Obama’s re-election campaign.

All the UE numbers currently issued by das kapital are BS anyway. They are not anything close to reality.

Real unemployment means any/all citizens who CAN work who are NOT working. Not some gerrymandered bastardization of the statistics or “seasonal adjustment” numbers.

Remember, intellectuals who really want to have a socialist government are running things, including the Department of Labor office. And they lie and they lie and they lie. All to cover el presidentes butt.

    A. None, but the houseplant and brick have a purpose!
