Obama: Healthcare Criticism Outlandish

From his love-blind fans at Reuters:

Healthcare critics make outlandish claims: Obama

By Matt Spetalnick

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Barack Obama accused his critics on Saturday of resorting to "outlandish rumors" and "misleading information" aimed at derailing his efforts to overhaul the $2.5 trillion U.S. healthcare system…

"As we draw close to finalizing — and passing — real health insurance reform, the defenders of the status quo and political point-scorers in Washington are growing fiercer in their opposition," Obama said, without naming names, in his weekly radio and Internet address.

"Some have been using misleading information to defeat what they know is the best chance of reform we have ever had," Obama said, adding it was critical for Americans to have all the facts as they meet their lawmakers in home districts.

Obama adviser David Axelrod has coached Democrats in the Senate, where the party has a majority, on how to deal with angry opponents of the healthcare proposals during the month long recess.

Obama’s aides and fellow Democrats have charged that protests staged at some "town hall"-style meetings held by congressional Democrats have been orchestrated by Republican – and industry-backed groups and conservative talk-show hosts, and are calling for a more civil dialogue

"Let me explain what reform will mean for you. And let me start by dispelling the outlandish rumors that reform will promote euthanasia, cut Medicaid or bring about a government takeover of health care. That’s simply not true," Obama said in his Saturday address.

"There are those who … are trying to exploit differences or concerns for political gain," he added

Notice how Mr. Obama does not cite exact what criticism of his plan is so outlandish? He never specifically states where the opposition is in error.

Obama’s aides and fellow Democrats have charged that protests staged at some "town hall"-style meetings held by congressional Democrats have been orchestrated by Republican – and industry-backed groups and conservative talk-show hosts, and are calling for a more civil dialogue.

Remember how the Democrats were always calling for more civil dialogue when they were out of power – like when discussing the Iraq War?

"Let me explain what reform will mean for you. And let me start by dispelling the outlandish rumors that reform will promote euthanasia, cut Medicaid or bring about a government takeover of health care. That’s simply not true," Obama said in his Saturday address.

Outlandish?

With the help of the Republicans in Congress, let’s look at what’s in the 1,018-page, "America’s Affordable Health Choices Act” (a pdf file).

Does the bill promote euthanasia?

Page 425 – Section 1233 makes end-of-life care consultations eligible for Medicare reimbursement.

Page 501 – Section 1401 establishes a new Center for Comparative Effectiveness Research; the bill includes no provisions preventing the government-run health plan from using such research to deny access to life-saving treatments on cost grounds, similar to Britain’s National Health Service, which denies patient treatments costing more than £35,000

Does it cut Medicare?

Page 331 – Section 1161 cuts more than $150 billion from Medicare Advantage plans, potentially jeopardizing millions of seniors’ existing coverage.

Will it bring about a government takeover of health care?

Page 19 – Section 102(c) prohibits the sale of private individual health insurance policies, beginning in 2013, forcing individuals to purchase coverage through the federal government

Page 167 – Section 401 imposes a 2.5 percent tax on all individuals who do not purchase "bureaucrat-approved" health insurance-the tax would apply on individuals with incomes under $250,000, thus breaking a central promise of then-Senator Obama’s presidential campaign

Note too how Mr. Obama’s media lackeys unquestioningly report his smears without even the slightest suggestion that they are the precise opposite of the truth.

"There are those who … are trying to exploit differences or concerns for political gain," he added…

So sayeth an unknown political hack who only gained prominence by being loudly against the war in Iraq.

Which he called a Rovian diversion.

The only thing I see outlandish here is Obama’s refusal to divulge the full details of his health care bill.

Clicked on the link and I have to say LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOOOOVVVEE IT!!!. Like Rush always say something to the effect “exposing absurdity by being absurd”. I recomend the site highly.

    • VMAN says:

One more thing if the left was as honest about their agenda as “The Cube” portrays it we wouldn’t have to worry about anything.

…..”There are those who … are trying to exploit differences or concerns for political gain,” he added…’

That’s what he gets for practicing his speeches in front of the mirror. It’s all so confusing for him, especially when he realizes the quote above decribes him to a “T”.

Still, I wouldn’t mind having a beer with him so I could personally tell him what a despicable, lying SOB I believe him to be.

    (Shhhhh. Don’t anybody report me.)

    • Colonel1961 says:

JMG: Just a little bit more of the left’s projection. Their accusals are merely their own actions. Hypocrisy in excelsis.

As has been noted: the community organizer is befuddled that organizing can go both ways. I say: bring it on.

    • Rusty Shackleford says:

Don’t look now but he just called all conservatives “stupid”.

  3. 12 Gauge Rage says:

JMG, You don’t need a beer to tell the POTUS what you think of him. Remember the old Klingon proverb: Drink not with thine enemy. However, given the right crowd, everyone might want to buy you a round for telling the man to his face what you really think of him.

    • TwilightZoned says:

Count me in on buying a round.

    • JohnMG says:

Well, I’ve been telling it to anybody that will listen, and even more that don’t want to hear it, hoping word will make it back to him, but there’d be no substitute for delivering the message in person. I’d even bring the beer just for that privelege.

Here is a Independant doctor that dared to question a Democratic politician about healthcare – watch as the politician becomes unglued:

    http://www.11alive.com/video/default.aspx?aid=110764

Starting at about 1:30 he loses his um composure, rants about people should have called his office and scheduled a “meeting”

Meanwhile the doctor in the follow-up interview with the tv station states he has called the Congressman on several occassions to talk about the issue, but to no avail so he decided to show up at the meeting to talk about it (you have to wait a few seconds before the video screen truncates then push play):

Talk about a nasty, ranting and raving negro!

    • jobeth says:

Curvy…I couldn’t get the second video to work. There seems to be none on that page.

The first one was priceless. As I watch it I couldn’t help thinking, would you talk to your bosses like that? naw…you’d get fired.

I also noted that when he was making the point on how many constiuents he had in his district, the crowd all chimed in that it was them too! (assume they were the anti HC bill folks)

When he said something pro HC bill that a few liked they applauded…kind of weak wasn’t it. How many do you think backed him…10? maybe 15? The room looked pretty full and when he said something the rest of the crown took exception too, they were threatened by the underlings that the meeting would end.

As to the meeting in the latter part of the month…wanna bet it gets canceled? I can see a bad case of sniffles for the dear rep!

    • canary says:

To accuse constituents of hijacking a meeting. This angry, threatening finger pointing and jabbing, growing among the Democrats, is demeaning. Obama is turning into a terrible role model

      The Audacity of Hope
pg 211) In other words, Alan Keyes was an ideal opponent; all I had to do was keep my mouth shut and start planning my swearing in ceremony. And yet, as the campaign progressed, I found him getting under my skin in a way that few people have. When our paths crossed during the campaign, I often had to suppress the rather uncharitable urge to either TAUNT HIM or WRING HIS NECK.
Once, when we bumped into each other at an Indian Independence Day parade, I POKED HIM IN THE CHEST while making a point, a bit of alpha-male behavior…
      — Barack Obama

Canary, once again reminded of bully Obamba Jr. getting pleasure from torturing that chicken and shoving the little girl,
feels the canary eagle alpha-bird behavior, taking off, soaring high above..grab those pointy horns with sharp claws, and clamp down on that pointing finger.
Don’t do it Canary! There will be no more cootie shots!
ka-Splat! splat. eww right on his giant head. Great aim canary.

No harm, Obama was telling his empathy at recent town-hall meeting, although he has a doctor and ambulance follow him everwhere he goes, it might not always be that way. Just a kleenix needed to get the bird poop off his head.

  5. jobeth says:

All the dimocraps keep saying they haven’t read the HC bill. Its 1018 pages LONG they say.

After taking a good look at it, what I see is a document that is at least double spaced, with about 25 printed lines to a page and each line taking up only about 50% of the space on that line.

Squeeze it down to the average size page I can’t see that thing being more than 200 to 300 pages long. Bet they don’t let a 300 page novel throw them.

Please explain why these so called public servants can’t be expected to do the job we hired them for and read the damn thing?

Now that they have an entire month at home, that removes any and all excuses for not reading the thing. Not that they would break rank and actually disagree with the “ONE” anyway.

Seems they are only thinking of how to stay relevant enough to secure all those juicy committee posts.

Well, if most of Americans are where I believe we are…they don’t have to worry about that for more than about a year now….Come November 2010….we have some pink slips for the lot of you….Even and especially any of the cowardly Republicans who can’t garner up enough gonads to do the right thing!

  6. canary says:

Obama: I won’t forget my mother wondering in her last days if her insurance would claim it was a pre-existing condition…..
doesn’t tell the end of story, but we know she got care, but not from her son who wasn’t there.

Obama recent statement: my grandmother was dying from a terminal illness, and broke her hip 6 months before she died. We had to decide if it was worth fixing since she only had 6 monthes to live.
again doesn’t tell the end of story. Something tells me she laid in pain in a bed for 6 monthes, after all he loved his reverand more than his “typical white grandmother”

Obama cares, all go to illegals, terrorists, and dictators who don’t give up their seat, and black panthers who terrorize voters, and union mafia type scum that beat up voters and block doors.

    • proreason says:

The Moron had access to unlimitted resources when his grandmother broke her hip, and he chose to let her live in pain for the rest of her life?

If it was anyone else, I wouldn’t believe it.

But after all, she was just a typical white person…..and who knows what her ancestors might have done to the ancestors of Obama’s 6.25% black lineage.

    • jobeth says:

“Obama: I won’t forget my mother wondering …”

      Open memo to Obalmy
Yeah…And my husband and I won’t forget my father – in – law laying there starving to death (NHS refused him nourshment) because he had the audacity (you seem to like that word) to live to be 85 and have a TREATABLE stroke after the Brit Health service refused to treat him for TIAs!!!! Inconsiderate old guy took six weeks to die from starvation! That’s murder in my eyes!

At least your mother knew she would be treated regardless of her health insurance status.

Everything was denied to Dad. Period

And you expect us to support that same plan here? IDIOT

  7. proreason says:

Having endured this Moron for 200+ years days, I can now reveal something about his childhood with 100% accuracy, even though I did not know him.

He never learned how to color inside the lines.

  8. Rusty Shackleford says:

Very succinct piece in American Thinker that gets to the point.

    http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2009/08/obama_and_public_debate.html

“While Candidate Obama sounds like a truly committed servant of the people, President Obama sounds, well, like something else entirely. Strange.”
